      Not a reach at all at this point. I wish Kendrick could be more direct, but the industry is really weird and Drake isn't the only one that's inappropriate with young girls and /or guys. Look at how long Puffy ran around being a deviant before he offended those CIROC liquor owners and sealed his doom. Before that he was untouchable under Clive Davis. Drake was going to be the new Puffy before Kendrick ruined his party.

    • @t-and-p
      @t-and-p 16 дней назад +7

      I thought he was so low for that. Kendrick's blows were all about Drake's actions, even when they involved someone else (eg he mentioned a daughter, but didn't attack that daughter). The nearest he got to attacking others was the OVO crew, but if you've got a weird case, expect to take shots for it!
      However, what did Whitney do, other than be Kendrick's partner (& a full ride or die partner, at that)? He attacked her character, her integrity, her as a person, and she had done absolutely nothing. Foul.
      Maybe that's why Drake keeps going for "a minorrrrrrs" - they're the same maturity level as him...
      Someone needs to tell him that his hatred of black women is not helping disprove the "coloniser" claim, either - because trying to take control over a culture by attacking their women is right out of the coloniser handbooks from centuries ago.

    THANK YOU!! I’m so glad someone highlighted the fact that Drake has utter disregard and lack of respect for women. Uses them as a means to an end. The fact that his “nuclear” song was an so-called expose of Whitney is all you need to know about the type of man he is and his character. So instead of swinging at the person in front of you, you’re gonna degrade and utterly slander the women who isn’t involved in this feud with no outlet or agency to fight back!? Like what in the bully hell? That’s why when she hit them steps on his head with the little turn around I celebrated for her reclamation of character, for her celebrating with her man (of upstanding character and morals) who didn’t drag Sophie (who would’ve been low hanging fruit, who didn’t slander Adonis but affirmed him, who took the high road at every turn)-while that sorry excuse for a man from start to finish invoked Kendrick’s significant other and tried to destroy her public image and shame her character. Ugh.

    "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery , none but ourselves can free our mind " Bob Marley Redemption song. Drake perception is that he is free and clear . Drake is owned by UMG , OVO desicrated , he is subject to federal laws & ridiculed because of his own actions . A miner = goes to a location and reaps ( anagram) the native resource e.g. gold, coal , talent etc for personal profit. We can visit places but only the confused or actors take on the accent after a fortnight .

    Being from Toronto but not holding the same sentiment as my fellow Canadians, the reason people from Toronto say they don’t want Derozan back is because he claimed Toronto was his home. If we didn’t trade him for Kawhi he wouldn’t have left the city. He had plans to make the raptors his forever team like Kobe and the Lakers. He was even calling himself the king of the 6. And even after the trade he showed his appreciation for Toronto/ Canada as a whole, he was upset with Management and the president of the team. Drake nor the fans were ever his problem. So Toronto feels away about his new found disrespect for the city he once represented so hard. Also to add this feud has turned from a Drake and Kendrick back and forth to region/ country war. It’s almost as if the U.S is giving a huge middle finger to Toronto as a whole because of this one artist. “Not like us” made a huge statement to a lot of Canadians that we would never have a place in the culture no matter how many similarities we share. A lot of “Americans fled to Canada during the Underground Railroad area and still suffered slavery here and with all our shared history we are still considered othered. I am Jamaican born so my tie to Canada is mainly by my residence here, but the irony is Drake didn’t only wear American culture as a costume he also benefited from cosplaying from most of the Caribbean. Just want that to be remembered

    • @ChillingWithMonie
      @ChillingWithMonie  17 дней назад +11

      I respect your point of view. However, it’s odd if you thought he would pick Toronto over his actual home. A place that raised him and shaped him into the man he is today. A place where his children and family still reside to this day. In that moment Toronto probably did feel like a second home to him because that’s all he knew and it would make more sense for any player to want to stay with one team. That’s not shocking. Lol however, it’s still his actual home (Compton) vs a place he adopted for a moment in time. That’s over with and people should move on. He owes Toronto nothing. He did his job and once the job was done, he moved on. Also, it seems the people in Canada are loving Not Like Us. The song is now the MOST streamed rap song in Canada on Spotify in 2024, surpassing Kanye West’s “Carnival”. Does Canada really feel a way? Doesn’t seem like it. Just certain individuals who are butt hurt.

      Mustard said it wasn’t intentional he wore that hat. I also think it’s gang/affiliation culture in LA. There are specific hats that members wear to identify themselves. But I’m curious why he chose that hat lol

    But we are suppose to not believe this man is attracted to teenagers.
    Then theres 'Euohoria' a show that hes a producer on *about teenagers in sexual explicit adult situations*
    His song *"Teenage Fever"* and the tons and tons of videos and pictures and stories of him being inappropriate with teenagers.

    49 years old from New York, and I didn't know who the clown was. I stopped paying attention to the west coast after Tupac died like a lot of my peers who went through that beef and was left sick to their stomachs and hearts.I'm glad this remained where it was supposed to.....on wax

      You’re a bit older than me so it makes sense. Tommy was very big during high school and my transition into college and they’d do his dances in parties. My generation didn’t really feel the effects of Pac and Biggie death so we didn’t really care about the west coast vs East coast thing if you weren’t paying attention for real.

    The wife beater isn’t a reach simply because she wears them regularly. That doesn’t take away the context; and she could’ve worn anything. Most importantly, Kendrick is calculating; at the very least he was aware of the interpretation. After all, he’s meticulous in every other aspect of the song and video. 🤔

      It is a reach. Not every single detail has a double or triple meaning. Y’all thinking too hard. Just like people are saying his jacket said “8/8/2024” for an album release. Whole time the jacket says “s/s 2024” which stands for “spring / summer 2024” the season the jacket was distributed. Lol but if you’d like to think that, by all means, do so. Lol

    Great video..For me it’s the amount of ppl who missed the whole point of who the “US” is 😂😂 let’s be clear.. “US” refers to BLACK AMERICANS who BUILT AMERICA, were FREEDMEN or ENSLAVED ppl HERE in AMERICA who created this culture…. Even BEFORE AMERICA was formally the United States..
    I only point that out bc it’s weird how we aren’t allowed to celebrate ourselves without having to share our cultural expressions or heritage.
    If DRAKE, who HAS American LINEAGE, yet is DISCONNECTED from “US” ain’t US..why would anyone WITH NO NATIVE BLACK American lineage think that THEY aren’t ALSO the THEY? 😂
    As for the Beater… its that the Kids also had on the beater that drove that idea I think. Sorry for the rant… this is the first video of an actual “US” I’ve seen commentary on the video 😂😂❤

      So Blacks in the UK arent US 🤔 What about Africans, Caribbeans, the Latinos/Latinas that grew up with us in LA & NYC, you throwing Eminem out the cookout? 🫣
      Thats like saying only the best rappers come out of NY, bc we started it. Thats crazy talk!
      I heard ppl say, only black ppl should have gone to the Juneteeth concert. 😳 Historically, there were alot of white men who fought for our freedom and came to Texas with the power of the US govt to free the slaves on that day in June.
      You cant gatekeep HipHop! The largest consumer is young white men. And you can't judge the entire fan base off of one confused 🇨🇦 😂.
      Its like a spades tournament, you either with US or you're THEM. If you respect and understand the culture, cool. There's alot of non-black, non-Americans who get it and push HipHop culture forward. Lets not exclude our allies at home or abroad.🫱🏿‍🫲🏼

      Interesting perspective. Thank you for leaving a comment. Looking forward to others point of view on this one. It really is an odd thing when black people are enjoying and embracing themselves and other races get upset because they aren’t apart of it but they also exclude us from their festivities. We really can’t win out here.

      @@iluvdissheet you still chose to miss the point while proving it. When Black Americans want to celebrate themselves, everyone else gets offended and wants to be included. WHY?!? We are not asking to be included in anyone else’s culture. It’s one thing to respect a culture, it’s another to act like you’re entitled to it, which is what you’re doing. How don’t y’all get that?
      If I’m invited to your house, I’m still a guest. I was welcomed but still have to show respect. I can’t try to run your place. But y’all attempt that mess with us every time by getting offended when we claim what’s ours.
      To say we can’t gatekeeper hip hop is disrespectful af. I don’t care what demographic “consumes” it the most currently (you’re honestly talking about money wise which can go down another rabbit hole y’all choose to ignore). If you actually had respect for US and the culture we created, you’d understand what OP said. Thing is y’all don’t respect us and y’all don’t respect what we created. Like you brought up, y’all just consume.
      Again, no one said non Black Americans can’t participate or enjoy the culture. But you’re a fool if you don’t acknowledge our differences and respect those in said culture. If the Japanese made a song about anime stating “they not like us” none of the Black Americans would be offended nor anyone else because it’s obvious af we aren’t. But again, y’all stay doing it to us. It’s really tired now.
      Also: Eminem knows he’s a guest. Paul Wall knows he’s a guest. That’s the difference between them and the rest of y’all. You’d think y’all would look to them as examples on how to move. You don’t hear them saying that mess y’all say or getting offended.

      @@iluvdissheet nope they aren’t US. The same way they have parts of their culture that is FOR THEM. SOMEHOW it’s only OFFENSIVE when BLACK AMERICANS celebrate THEIR culture. They are GUESTS. Just like IM A GUEST at CARNIVAL, Cinco De Mayo, etc. I’m ok with that but somehow it’s so upsetting for other cultures. Like damn we died to be able to express ourselves here in this country.. now we gotta deal with the NEW colonizing behavior from other cultures? Eminem was never at a cookout and u must be young to think so 😭
