    So glad your reviews are back to normal! I watch all content you put out on all your channels. I much prefer when y’all have a team to sit down and talk about the food compared to just one person.Great review and thanks for the all the entertainment you have provided me the last 6 years, since I found y’all.

    I went on my first trip to WDW this September, and we were staying at Riverside. I remember a very long time ago when it was said that it was not a good restaurant, but we ate there and I have to say it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The food was so good. If I could have, I would have eaten all night. All the meats were so tender and so flavorful, the mac and cheese was one of the better mac and cheeses I've had, and even the vegetables were great. This is coming from someone who loves barbecue. I think Boatwrights is pretty high up. And then, after dinner you have to go into the River Roost bar and watch Yehaa Bob. I will definitely be making it a point to return to this restaurant on my next trip to Walt Disney World, and really Port Orleans Riverside as a whole. They really knocked it out of the park.
    Also, I believe your server, Justin, is a friend of one of the friends I was with on my trip. He's a great guy, very eager to please, and I look forward to seeing him again

    Difference with land base and sea based French Onion soup is simple. THE STOCK.
    I make stock a lot. Sea base/or hotel/food court/ or camping. It's canned stock.
    At a good restaurant that's being conscious about ingredients, they'll make their own 'bone stock' from trimming bits of steaks, using the end bones they cut down from big slab of ribs, basically save it all in a 'bone bag' (including veggie trimming, onion skins, carrot bit that didn't make the grade, onions and herb) simmer that SLOWLY overnight. Skim and defat. On a cruise they don't have that luxury. While I hate to mention the 'secret' It's MSG in the home made broth. Try it with a can of beef broth. And take a spoon, taste it, and sprinkle on ACCENT flavor enhancer...and the flavors just pop. Just a bit...don't go wild.

    Hubby and I visited back in May for my birthday and had a fun visit with YeeHa Bob. The restaurant has decent food, it feels very open at least where we sat almost too open because of all the people moving down that hallway. Your audio is the check to my point. If you need a Disney night out, go to Boatwright's just before 6. Walk all around the resort see the southern sights and then go get your table at river roost and have a ball! The snacks and the cocktails are as fun as YeeHa Bob's entertainment!

    The Mash Potatoes being served without gravy or butter is complying with Vegan, Picky Eater, etc...It simplifies the menu and kitchen hassle with a quick Vegetarian option. Be aware and ask for a side condiment of butter, or meat gravy.

    Glad to hear the soup is good. Regarding French Onion Soup on DCL. I cook often. I also have to improvise at times. The unpleasant (dishwater) flavor that you describe with French onion soup may be from using certain brands of processed cheese to dress the soup instead of aged cheese or processed cheese of another brand.

    Panda, true Louisiana red beans & rice shouldn’t be dry. I’ve never seen a serving of red beans and rice that’s ever looked like what was on your plate. If that was served here in Louisiana, the restaurant would go out of business. Red beans and rice and supposed to be thick, creamy and flavorful and take time to make right.

    Southern style cornbread isn't supposed to be sweet. Definitely important to say that cornbread is sweet or savory. I generally ask for sauces on the side. FYI, Louisiana style food does NOT have to be hot/spicy. Flavorful - yes indeed. If you go to New Orleans, the food is NOT designed to set your mouth on fire. My father-in-law used to salt everything too. When you say "sweet butter" are you meaning it has sugar in it? Kids' chicken tenders - hilarious. Creme Brulee has no business getting chocolate put in it. I've never heard of southern cheesecake - really cute that Panda said it was like NY cheesecake - that's totally southern. I would have thought a New Orleans style place would have offered a bread pudding - maybe they should ditch that creme brulee thing and make a bread pudding.

    • @RLucas3000
      @RLucas3000 Год назад

      Crème Brûlée is French which I do associate with New Orleans, but I have no objection adding bread pudding as a fourth dessert. By the way, I have a list of odd pairings that are delicious together, and corn bread and vanilla ice cream is one of them. (Mashed Potatoes and Grits are another pair, as are Munchos and Egg Salad).
