Thank you for these tips!
We try to make good music and hope that some people like it. We also hope that you all succeed in your dreams :)
Amazing tips. Submit Hub is exceptional in many different ways. Liked the twitter tip.
Imagine him just like "a fan will engage with you in socails media, a fan will listen to your music, a fan will buy your merch. AND SPEAKING OF MERCH WE HAVE A NEW HOODIE WITH 12 DIFFERENT NEW DESI-"
Love what your doing on this channel... The insights appear to be really useful. I will be putting out a couple of EP's this year and I will definitely implement some of the strategies that you put forward. Cheers!
Having good music is obviously good advice. This year I'm really concentrating on trying to get good at writing songs. My goal is 365, in 365 days....I'm hoping that does it.
I have a couple videos on my page that can help you with that.....
You gotta treat writing like a river- just let the pen, pencil, keyboard or whatever write itself. If you ever need songwriting help, I can brainstorm song lyrics for you and support the best I can :)
Hey bro check out ma new song u will like it I swear I heard one of yo song it’s 🔥 here is the link for my new song ruclips.net/video/as3r56k5pik/видео.html
Great video and very informative. The big misconception about promoting music on social media that no one ever talks about is that just because you post something amazing doesn’t mean the social platform is going to actually show it to anyone. I wish all of us indie artists the best of luck throwing darts in a darkened room at a target that doesn’t actually exist.
This is channel is golden for tips for musicians!
I’m so happy I saw this video. As someone who’s been trying to get my music out there, its tough to have constant feedback that can help improve. Thank you so much for this video man
Great video! Thanks for the insight!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
YES THIS THE GREAT IDEA
You will be successful. Don't quit.
I saw some videos of your channel today and had to subscribe. Would be a good idea to give some more explanation of "have good music". As this is something that creates emotions on the listener's side that can't be planned, for me it means, first of all, to have learned the basics of music production, have a good mixing and mastering, especially for the streaming platforms, and second to be yourself during the creation process, and don't follow expectations by others. In the end I try to find fans who resonate with what is part of myself in the songs. In social media the artist is the most interesting part, so self-staging would be a good idea.
You have to literally drag the feedback out out people. Only one of my friends/people I know is willing to actually talk about what they hear and what they like/don't like. :P
Also about the gigging... how would you go about music that isn't so... dancy? I don't see that being very successful at gigs with atmospheric things.
Great question! I thought the same thing until I was in a metal band. That's about the furthest from dance you can get, right? People still showed up. Our tactic was to just hop on shows where there was at least one band with a bigger following than ours. They didn't even have to sound like us, we just had to imagine if their fans would resonate with our music or not to determine if we wanted to be on the show or not.
A metal band called Code Orange Kids did a tour with a rap artist named Ghostemane just because their vibe was similar. You can do the same!
I hope this helps!
That's ok, just because you have dancy music doesn't mean people will jump around. Find a small band who have dancy bopping music and go to one of their gigs. People just stand there and stare at the stage, then afterwards say how incredible it was. It takes a special talent to be able to perform and get a crowd moving all together in a room as an emerging artist. If your music is atmospheric then your audience will be too and that's fine. Don't put too much focus on the things you don't have but focus on what you do have :)
@@Burstimo Thanks for the advice. This is gold right there! :)
You're welcome! @@thedamnchicken
I know I'm replying to an old message, but look at Sunn O))). People love their live shows because it's an experience, you're selling an experience so just focus on how you can make it something amazing, beyond simple face-value "dancing".
Awesome..thank you for the help🤘
I'm a 100% DYI and I'm learning how to sing, how to write my lyrics, how to edit my videos, how -to everything by myself. I'm an accountant that has been bored for so long and as I really like HipHop very much and with this situation of Covid isolation at home, it is time to really go DIY on whatever project you may have in mind. This channel is my guide. Thanks.
this a very helpful channel for upcoming music artist! keep it up!
Yes! You keep it up also. Don't get discouraged. Keep making music.
Thanks for all of these informative videos. It really motivates me to post more!
Good info
Tip 1 have good music
Tip 2 makes social media content
Generic advice 🙃
What it actually said:
Tip 1 *How to get feedback from your friends to see if your music is actually good.
Tip 2 *Make social media content that's interesting on its own and not just an add for your new song.
@@wtflol6969 yeeeah that's just as generic.
feedback from friends will help you make better music but it'll barely help actually get fresh ears to listen.
making social media content won't help very much unless you have a big budget to spend on ads.
Seems like it....
Thanks for the great content. Out of this one I learnt: be interesting - don't just promote "but our song" posts on Insta. We have to have more fun with social media in our rehearsals.
we actually do live streams from our rehearsals - have had great results from that.
@@Spiegelbild nice one!
Couldn't agree more :)
we are one step before Tip No1 we believe....
good networking ideas/strategy...you are right that a new artist cannot start as a famous artist...not the same condition
Maintaining a social media account sounds like a nightmare. Think things are doable without needing to entertain on a daily basis with memes and such? It would be nice if artists could just be artists and not have to struggle with daily content.
It is nightmare and that bullshit takes your energy / time you could just use on making music. At the same time 20 years ago 90% of us wouldn't even have had a real shot to release music and have it heard like that. Guess we need to appreciate present times for what they are.
Great channel, nice also to see a uk perspective for a change with this type of video! I was wondering which of these methods you would say is more effective for non-popular music (i.e. not pop/rock/dance/rap etc.)? I don't really know of any other groups that sound similar so difficult to know how to pitch something that isn't easy to categorise, it has elements of classical, folk and many other things - a fusion.
I'd say these methods are still effective, there are always more open minded people out there willing to listen to fusions. it would just be more difficult to find the right blogs but its still possible if you send many submissions to different sites that cover one of the genres you make.
I make experimental electronic with goth influences, so I'm in the same case of "not really fitting in"
@@rinkaku6489 yes it's funny because it's a positive thing in one way, a lot of people struggle to stand out from the crowd with so much competition so it's good to have something different. Then again the industry is all based on pigeonholes, which you can understand to an extent because most people want to know what they are getting or have some point of reference. The trouble is how to market something which can't easily be described in terms of genre - that doesn't matter if people have already heard it and liked it, they don't care what genre it is, but to get new fans they have to take a bit of a 'leap of faith' I suppose
This is actually the best video I've ever watched about the artist life
Thanks for making this video. I am a dance music artist and a DJ and wanted to start my own weekly podcast to hopefully start sharing on streaming platforms and possibly actual radio stations. Just curious if you've covered this before on your channel or know a channel talking about this topic? Would be a good one. I've subscribed. New follower. Thanks.
Yes, we've done a full youtube video and podcast discussing artist's podcasting!
Once again. Best advice yet. This is the guy.
Thank you!
Ad tip 1) Does it mean, that even though I submit my song to the Spotify editors e.g. 14 days before release, my track won't get even heard by them if it doesn't perform well with the people first (after actual release)?
You guys gonna get biiiig, thank God I saw you now before every SoundCloud rapper in the world hahshs
Should we actually create a logo and have merchandise made while we are trying to build a fan base ? I mean if someone wears our hat or shirt others will see it and talk about it and look us up - I get that. But if the fan base is say less than 200 and really not engaged isn’t it a bit unnecessary to fork out the dough to have merch made when it could possibly just end up a dusty box in the garage ?
Every time I see your videos, I get hope... 2020 will be my year :))
I really like your channel. I am able to use your tips and transfer them to video production business!
Thank you
I got my 1000 fans on insta and it feels so good 🥰
Well, you just got your 1001 fan. Loved the track!
@@milesapple7691 Thank you!!
@@LilaJ. how many you got now
YSK Az3l about 5000 😊
So cool! How’d you do it?
I'm tempted to see what the bigger names are doing on instagram since i don't see how it can be used for music promo... I guess for bands I could see it being used for taking pictures of their performances, but not sure about solo artists, especially ones that don't look like freakin models... lol
Don't aim to be like the bigger artists as they're not creating content with target audiences in mind but instead with their existing audience in mind.
You want to create content which grows your audience!
Interesting - thnx for sharing 😚😚😚
Should you build online following first then use analytics to play gigs in the area they listen?
Yes!
I love your content, thank you !
but I have to say that submit hub is not the best option, at least for songwriters
I never knew increasing your fan base could be easier , my friend who is a song writer really needed to get known. we met this guy @hackbeign on IG we took a try. well right now my friends streams grew from 500+ to about 125k in just 2weeks on the songs she has written that has been recorded and well she has had quite some songs bought too. you can give him a try @hackbeign on IG. thank me later and refer him too if he does nice to you.
also about following and unfollowing . a stronger variation of this you don't even have to follow them . dm their profile to your self and keep a list of all the accounts you like and want to interact with . if you interact with these profiles say once or twice a week the people will notice you and appreciate you providing value to their posts
( make sure to leave engaging comments to get them to reply they will remember you more if you get them to remembering having an actual interaction with you )
@@abyssent although this may work it is slightly like following and unfollowing where you are using people for engagement instead of having actual relationships. If you enjoy engaging with them and have built a relationship then why not follow?
Motivated again 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey i am a rapper from India and this video is very helpfull :) Thank you for the great information
this video is gold
great video! Thanks for the insight of the video!
Awesome tips as usual. Thanks!
Hello! I'm about to set the released date of my next song and my distributor is Distrokid. Is there any difference between choosing a time zone of the release of the song to get on new music friday? Do Spotify playlists upgrade in a particular time zone? Does the time zone matter?
i think theres actually an effect that happens subconsciously if you listen to a song mannny times if u leave a song on and listen on repeat sometimes youll start to realize things about the song and understanding it more on an emotional level in terms of the feelings and emotion of the song and you can either like the song more or figure out you didnt like it as much as you thought you did but this actually helps connect w the song a lot more when you can feel how the artist is feeling making the song
Definitely!
Dexterious pertinence exactly!
Great stuff! Yep will definitely use strawpoll!! Thanks for the info 👍
You're welcome 🙏
Great video, I loved it it really helped me with my music.
I Also liked and subcribed
The power of music videos if very unspoken. You don't need a big budget, just some knowledge and creativity. There are channels that show you how to do budget filming that looks like a big budget. Those would be easier to run through ads if you make it interesting enough like a Billie Eilish or Oliver Tree video (again, not just because they're big budgets, there are way to have low budget films that are interesting, lil dicky made an entire video on no budget and made a song about it)
Is my music good? Besides maybe lack or production value like is there potential?
I'll love to see a video of how I can grow my RUclips
Done!
Where can I buy that shirt
1000 Fans? I don’t even have 1000 views yet on SoundCloud
Keep grinding my g
Tip number 3 is pure gold, definitely going to try this!!!
It would be dope to have honest friends.
Great info. Thanks💪💯
thank you!
You're welcome 🙏
That's the point. Do I have good music? Am I worth it? I guess I have low self-esteem. My family don't care
Just signed up for submit hub. Will report back here when I'm rich and famous.
Hahaha nice one 👌
Nylophone how has it been for you? I tried it but it doesn't look promising at all unless I'm doing something wrong
I need to contact the music artist managers to tell them that we can advertise the artists' music, on the timebuck platform via the tiktok channel, at a very low cost.
LOVE THIS
Many thanks man.
Thanks for the video! Helpful stuff that we're going to use in the future.

How do you play gigs when ppl don’t know the music? Most venues want you to sell tickets to play.
Start really small
You're awesome man
I tried battleme app, got 3.4k plays and 235 followers😪, still cant get enough fame, in my town 500+ ppl know im a rapper, have way less fans😭, just thought as a meme cuz i make rap, battleme user is adre
I really like it
Nice video bro👌
Thank you!
I'm trying to grow as a rapper lol
Ndndn Congratulations
Ndndn pick a new genre. Everyone rappin now days
Josh Parkers move around, your opinion is useless. Everyone is a critic now days.
My problem is dms 😂 I don’t trust opening my dms 😂 because people say they love my music & then most the time men then start getting sexual & asking for a date or marriage 😂 .. if I’m professional & decline... they start putting my content on porn sights or fake profiles saying in doing nude live streams... etc... 😂 so I now stay away from dms but say I interact via comments always instead 🙈 it’s hard though as it’s a way to interact & gain fans but reality is ... people on social media are dangerous 🤦🏽♀️& id rather keep my boundaries & keep professional
can we just appreciate how burstimo had 1966 followers when this video was made

@@Burstimo Thanks, do you maybe know the name as well? Or a way for me to find it?
Step 1: Make all future social interactions super-awkward after running the anonymous poll, which proved without a shadow of a doubt that your music is perceived by all your friends as truly awful.
Hahaha tip # 1 FIRE
Submithub feels like smoke and mirrors...
Keep grinding!
@@learnsomethingawesome9560 No, it's the truth, I submitted two of my best songs to them, and not only there are so few blogs and people that support autotune, but there are also even fewer in hip hop genre. And this is a little fishy since hard autotune users like Travis Scott make a lot of money out of that and have many fans that like that kind of music. If you doubt my quality of music check me out on SoundCloud @northboidanny.
