Hi Man, sorry to bother you but would you have a wiring diagram for the column switches (indicator / wipers) for a Mk 1 Golf. haven't managed to find one on Google yet. TIA

Theres many variations due to fuseboxes
Best thing to do is just buy a bentley manual off ebay.
A physical copy will help you leaps and bounds above a schematic on your phone.
Just make sure you order correct year and diesel specific or gas specific

The MK1 glow plug relay is smaller than the MK3 and snaps onto the fuse box. What you pointed to on the front of the raintray was the place the old MK1 glow plug fuse was mounted. Did you check to see if the wipers will smack your ecu in that place above the AC airbox? Lots of room off to the d-side of the raintray for the ECU, I think that's where the MK1 gas ECUs go.

We are LHD here, wipers are in the d-side/left side here. So no issues on that front.
Got lucky that the old glow plug mount holes were able to mount the mk3 one.
