So glad to see you got it running. A huge step forward. I put the MK3 battery cables in all my Rabbits. Bolt the ground to the top starter mounting bolt. So you were able to use the MK1 instrument cluster? That will save me some work and look better than trying to fab the MK3 cluster into a Rabbit. Thanks for all the info. Really inspires me to get some projects out of the way so I can start my Rabbit TDI conversion.
I have mounted a fuel filter in the raintray before, but there isn't much room with the AC box in there.

Yes i kept the mk1 cluster everything works in it as well.
I kinda kept the idea of OE+ and mount as much as the factory would’ve or had done in the mk1 or what the swap came from.
The whole swap isn’t a bad project, just gotta get to it.
I did things that took lots of extra time with the swap just because i like to do everything myself.
I think if someone had everything pre-made beforehand it could be done in a weekend.

@@SmithsEuro I was thinking the MK3 cluster had an immobilizer like the MK4s do. So was trying to figure out how to fit the MK3 cluster in the MK1 dash. It didn't look good. That's one less thing to worry about. Thanks again for the tutorial.

Mk3 stuff does have an alarm box in the wiring. But it is only in the starter wiring.
I reused the mk1 starter wire.
If you used the mk3 wire you simply put a fuse in the alarm plug to bridge the connection and add a failsafe.

Popped right over once you bled the filter and injectors just like it should 👍 Now comes the fun of routing and cleaning up all the harness. I always hate the way the fuse boxes look when they're all hanging in there by the knee bar. Such a rats nest even when you thin out the harness. Well it's a lot worse on other cars but it's still a pet peeve of mine. Nice work getting it going though, now you'll be good to go once you get it all wrapped and laid in how it should be👍✌️

Yea man, i was happy when it went.
Ive been trying to figure what to do with the mk2 coupe wiring.
Might look into a pdm or one of them “painless” fuse box
So i can drop that oe fuse box weight

    hy,
love your content man! Keep up the good work.
I am gathering parts and some small things for TDI swap on my mk1 caddy as well.
I wanted to pull out all mk1 CE1 wiring and put mk3 CE2 wiring and fusebox. But I'm little bit worried if mk1 switches (headlights, fan, interiour light,...) can be soldered to mk3 ones?

You can but to me id leave all the mk1 stuff in to work as it should.
Youd have a ton more wiring and risk of burning up switches/wiring.
Best to only do the engine to the mk1 harness.
If you are missing all the mk1 wiring thats 1 thing, but if its there id stick with it.

Hey buddy how much will you charge me to make me a harness from a 08 Eos 3.2 to my 91 gti if you can??

I don’t have the time to take on something like that right now.
Check a few of the facebook groups for recommendations on a swap harness.
I know there’s 2-3 at least that make them, just don’t remember who
