I'm suddenly hungry for spaghetti. Thanks, this will be a great help with my AHU into the MK1 GTI project. I'll probably use a manual glow plug button, triggering a ford starter relay in the engine bay. To clean up the wiring harness some more.

I think you could extend the mk3 glow plug relay stuff into the car to hide it.
Or just reuse the mk1 stuff since its used to be in there

@@SmithsEuro Sounds like you are cleaning up the engine bay and I'm cleaning up under the dash. Ha 2 different goals.

Best tool I found for cutting open these old harnesses was a seam ripper(sewing tool). Makes a world of difference and you don’t risk cutting into a wire with a razor blade

Seam ripper x2! Push the "ball end" into the wire area so you don't nick the wires. Ones with a metal ball are begter as you'll wear though the little plastic one.

Yup those CE1 cars are a little more work but when you get the harness done and thinned out like that it's soooo much better! CE2 is night and day better, and very simple. Definitely a sticky gross mess not only from the old ass tape but a diesel bay is never clean LOL. Some useful info for anyone doing this swap. Thanks for sharing this bro👍👍🙂

I've watched all your videos on this truck and it gets me excited to swap my 81 rabbit pickup. I keep getting worried about the woke process because the donor I found is a 99' alh "problem child"

Just put it in, nothing to worry about.
Any issues come deal with them as you go.
Nothing like being able to be on the highway keeping up with traffic in one of these lol
