The opening part of the song with the delay is a masterpiece. The second part with the open harmonics is classic EVH. THEN...there's the song?!? Only in the late 70s. Always appreciated!
oh! oh! oh! Nobody talks about how when he covers a song, his rhythm playing is simple BUT FREAKING AMAZING (as when he plays his own stuff). ESPECIALLY, "You're No Good", "Dancing in the Streets", "Pretty Woman". 😱! I read a long time ago that he took a long time to come up with something to make the songs he covered more "Van Halen". You can definitely hear it! These songs, you'd NEVER think they could ever have the Van Halen feel. He put that "EVH" feel to it, and u never ever doubted it. MISS THAT GUY SO BADLY!!!
A phenomenal short lesson, thanks for the Saturday morning jam! Long live Eddie! Your going to make me want to buy one of those EVH Frankies! Maybe when I can play the whole song! Be well
Love, LOve, LOVE the KISS shirt bro! Another AWESOME lesson man! Thanks for keeping it real and keeping it simple... Hey! REAL SIMPLE! LOL... God bless and take care...
NGD! Gibson LP Standard 50s P90 goldtop. It'll be in the next video. I'm thinking maybe "I'm the Ocean" by Neil Young and Pearl Jam. What do you think? Good P90 song?
This song is one of my favorites. I finally see someone talking about this song! I used to play it and the complete intro with chord taps and that cool one repeat echo This I wanna see you playing. It's not that hard to play, but it sounds amazing. Regards from Rio!
I know in a past video you’ve said you like heavier strings but what do you prefer on your tremolo style guitars like this one? Do you drop to 10s or go right to 9s for that EVH feel
Over the 40 years of playing EVH, I've stopped attempting to "copy" what is not Xeroxable. Eddie himself has said he adds nuance(s) to everything, and most of his material comes from mistakes.
eddies playing was to me based on no open gaps in the music as being the only guitar in the band... much like a piano player has to fluid in the notes chords etc... just my thoughts.. not unlike vitto bratta in white lion..
Do you have a telegram Channel I got contacted by someone off another video of yours saying I won a hollow body guitar I didn't know you were giving away one is that you before I send them any money for shipping
Once you start learning randy rhoads solos and zakk Wylde you realize how easy Hendrix and Eddie really are. Ahead of their time?! Yes. But now they're not what anyone would call "hard". Crazy how much all our playings evolved over just a short amount of time. I see ppl all day on here that just blows my mind and makes me proud of how far we've pushed the guitar. Can't wait to see the tricks we're all learning in the next decade
What's your favorite Eddie Riff?
Hey bro can you able to give one guitar?
“Ain’t talking about love” is sooo good
Ice Cream Man
Sinner’s Swing! Drop Dead Legs!
I have been really grooving on Beautiful Girls lately. The groove under DLR's vocals.......
This entire song is perfect. The intro still gives me chills, 40+ years after first hearing it.
Love the profile pic dude

@@tommac2014 In North America, yes...they've played a few shows in Europe over the last year.
This proves Ed was the king of writing a simple melody that sounds so awesome. It's what separates him from all other players.

Fantastic attention to all the little phrasing details that are so crucially important. Tremendous job, Robert!

Women in Love is, for me, absolutely the ultimate signature Van Halen riff...and song. So soulful and full of life.
Awesome, needed that today. Thanks Robert.
I love these EVH videos. More please! 💜
Awesome song, great job like to learn some more VH solos keep up the good work Robert!🎸
Women in Love, VH II is my favorite VH album, prime Dave, Michael Anthony’s vocals are super tight and of course EVH IS GUITAR GOD
Thanks for the Eddie Van Halen guitar lick lesson!!! He was such an incredible guitar player.
Not what I was expecting... and so true! 🎸

Awesome thanks . Eddie is perfection. Tough question there are so many kick ass riffs. Dream is over or Unchained.
Amazing song esp the beginning riff!!! 🔥🔥🔥

super accurate tone man. Raking just like eddie
Ok, I’m hooked on learning this song
Love this lesson!
The master. One of my all time fave VH tunes
Which Van Halen is better Haggar or DLR?
you should do a lesson on a burzum or darkthrone song
We’ve been told time and time again, you never know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone. RIP Eddie!
Can we talk about how you got that tone? Amp? Settings? FX? PLEASE??
I like to think of this progression as Bmi to A to Ami.

Another great video, thx.
Today its LITTLE DREAMER ,
There are so many underrated riffs on the first 5 albums.
He probably did play it with an upstroke in the studio but changed it live.
My wife is laughing…. “Another EVH video from Robert, eh? Guess nothing getting done around the house today except practice 🤣”
Is your wife married? I wanna marry her!!!! 😂 Mine would NEVER let me have that time!
This is like one of my go-to Eddie riffs if I’m noodling!
Love this!!
Thanks🤘💜🎸🖤
Great lesson and dive into this song!! Anybody have this guitar and if so, what do you think of it?
Fun as always
Robert, I love ya man … but, when you have a crap load of guitars, why on would you do a EVH lesson on a Frankie tuned standard???
Great.. subbed
Wow I swear every single time I think that I heard all of Eddie's riffs there's something new.
How do I get to Les Paul Jr man?
What do the Hs and the Ps represent?

I have always thought Eddie was a better rhythm guitar player than lead player.
definitely not… he is a superb rhythm player, but he’s just the best lead player of all time
Lol 😂
Didn’t say anything bad about his lead playing I just think he’s criminally under appreciated as a Rhythm guitar player.
