Bought one of these to put on my SKS in a scout position, using a railed upper handguard with a rail extension so the scope will sit directly over the factory rear iron sight. I bought it before seeing THIS review, but I've yet to see a single bad review on it. It should be here tomorrow.
Great video and review! I agree 100% with this. Combat or law enforcement users should stick with Aimpoint but this Vortex is absolutely awesome for plinking and range shooting.
@TheJsil Here is what Vortex says about it being Parallax Free: Allows for rapid shooting with both eyes open, without concern for parallax shooting error. Parallax free beyond 50 yards; less than one-inch error closer than 50 yards. I'll do a test on it when I can and see how well it stays on target.
@gibbyair2 I haven't recorded specific reviews of how well it stays on target but I can say for me it seems to do very well. Once I sight it in I haven't had to sight it back in unless I remove it from the weapon. With the 2x doubler at 100 yards you should be able to get pretty good groups on a man sized target. I haven't really used the doubler however to speak much about it.
@SOLOK1LLA YES! The warranty makes it that much better. Its just a really good deal compared to the much more expensive eotechs and Aim Points. This is exactly what they state on the vortex site: •Unlimited Lifetime Warranty •Fully transferable •No warranty card to fill out •No receipt needed to hang on to If you ever have a problem, no matter the cause, we promise to take care of you.
You shouldn't see any reflection bud, I got one a few weeks ago and it's been great. Now like rockbluff I don't like where the light switch is, I'm in LE and been using my EOTech for a few years and it works great been on swat but I wanted to try something new and sense it's on my dime I had to get something good but affordable but if it doesn't hold up on I'm my job I'll def pass it on to everyone. If it fells me I can fall back on my open sights until I put my EOTech back on. Good thing about
@Sacreppin916 I don't know that the dot itself shrinks so much as the "glow" around the dot on the brighter setting shrinks when toning it down. Although I have no experience with the ml3 I have no doubt it is a much better product but the StrikeFire is much more affordable for those of us with a strict budget.
@379peterbilt530 Not in the StrikeFire. The SPARC is a 2 moa red dot however. I don't have any experience with that optic but I'm sure you can find lots of vids on youtube about the SPARC.
I agree that Vortex's warranty is great, but I'm very unhappy that I've had to use it 2 times in just one year! The first unit I bought started flickering on and off with recoil to the point that it would flicker even when I dry fired. The second one lasted about 500 rounds and then developed a bright halo on the outside of the lens, so had to be replaced again. Great warranty, but I'm not impressed with the durability of this scope.
@shamrock68ak For me, I haven't had any problems with the dot being too dim. Even on bright sunny days. But, I guess this could be a problem for some depending on your eye sight. I haven't had any experience with the bushnell or primary arms red dots but I hear really good things about leatherwood scopes.
@mattn5160 Sorry to hear you've had to return it a couple of times. What rifle do you have it mounted on? Its been working great for me after years of use.
The Vortex is authorized for use by several police departments, including SWAT teams. The story, "I wouldn't trust my life..." is the operative squid phrase, for people that don't know what they're talking about. They're just parroting what someone else told them. Don't fall for it. I've spent enough time around real grunts (I'm ex-Navy and my kid is active duty) and I've seen them sporting ALL kinds of optics, other than Aimpoint, EOtech, Trijicon... I've seen Burris, Bushnell... Vortex...
thanks for the review. looking to either purchase the Strikefire or the SPARC. could you please comment or add a video showing a parallax test of the Strikefire? my problem with my cheap ($50) red dot is that the scope makes you "center" the red dot, whereas aimpoints and eoctechs are basically parallax free
I just got one of these from gander mountain and when I'm looking throw it I can see a reflection of my eye and face on the lower half of the lens. I was thinking of taking it back. Is that normal or is there something wrong with it?

Its been a great sight. I think you'll really appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
@MrMonkeyman2424 Yes, it supports night vision but you have to have a night vision scope.

i just orderd mine today seems to b a really great deal
Thanks for a good review.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!!
@mgschutze yes, it does. Makes it just like a scope at that point.
@TheJsil Also, says the same thing in regards to the SPARC on the Vortex website.

I used the lower mount on the AK. The scope mount for my AK already sets the optic up high enough. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Its a higher mount which co-witnesses well with my iron sites
Thank you for watching and your support!
I'm not familiar with the itac defense cp1 so I couldn't comment on which one is better. thanks for watching!
when you tone down the brightness i thought the dot shrunk? i know thats how my brothers comp ml3 aimpoint works but then again this isnt an aimpoint

@shootload1911 Much appreciated! Thanks for watching.
would removing the battery remedy the power button issue?
@andr3w0312 To be honest I never tried it with the original mount. When I first got it I put it on the AK-47 and didn't have irons.

How well does this red dot co-witness with the mount it came with?
Larue has mounting options but they are pricey
ya but check out their warranty they say they will take it back and send u a new one no matter what happens no matter where u buy it

So it supports night vision? Or is that sold somewhere else?
Can you have a choice of 2moa or 4moa?
would the strike fire be better than itac defense cp1?
Not bad at all
@jallen198788 Works great on my AR :)
i think i was the 12000 view. sweet! lol
