All of this advice is spot on. All of it. The "casino" has their edge. They have come to understand that the game is not about winning/losing, but about probabilities on the whole. They KNOW that at the end of the day they have an approximately 4.5% edge, net, over gamblers that come in to play the games. So......figure out what your edge is and play that edge, whether it be pattern recognition, price action, fundamentals, technicals, patience, etc. Don't ever extend yourself on any play, no matter how great it looks. The one sure thing that I know is that I DON'T know what is going to happen in the future and how other traders will react. Any thing can happen. Also, I have reversed one of the ways I trade. I used to not like placing stops. Now, I do if I'm not right on top of things. If you get stopped out, you can always have a new opportunity to get back in. Losses are just the cost of doing business. Just make your losses small. There is no way getting around that. The trick is, is to win more than you lose. Rayner is a wise and extremely helpful/honest teacher. Thank you!

Thanks for the advice!! About the consistent set of actions, your saying if I trade pullbacks and then when the market ranges, I should wait for it to start trending again instead of buying/selling the highs and lows of a range?
you may trade pullbacks, and you may trade ranges by trading at its support and resistance. .

@Rayner Teo Yes I do. Like other new traders, I was too busy looking for the "holy grail" of trading. Actually, I found it. I had accepted the fact that the grail is not an indicator, but me training myself to be my best friend, and not my own worst enemy. Right now, I'm a "break even" trader. With more time and work on myself, I will no doubt graduate to becoming a consistently profitable trader. It WILL happen, as I have ZERO plans of quitting!

I think that being able to consistently manage your risk/trades with a 3:1 R/R is most people's edge, not many people are able to do that consistently

Tradingview has a replay feature. I just trade it using an excel spreadsheet rn. Thinkorswim has a full blown backtest feature where you can papertrade using their software.

I think the biggest problem many traders have is they look at candlestick like traffic signs. If they see one thing they do this.
They expect it to be automatic.
What candlestick really does is give you a quick image. But you still need to understand what is happening and more important why it is happening.
That's why I like this channel.
You teach the market & candlestick is the tool.
If you understand the market you don't need to memorize "certain signs" you are reading what the market is doing.

Its the difference between a business and a game, when its just a game and its all "for fun" trading is easy, but when you try to make a business out of it and live off it, thats a whole nother story, especially if you arent well capitalized in the 100s of Ks where you can take the investing approach and earn enough to live.. I've been doing short term ( holding positions up to 3 months) trading for about 10 months. Profit of $3500. I have also invested in about 35 stocks during the same period about 80k which is up 23k of unrealized gains. All using fundamentals. I just starting learning all about technical analysis. Perhaps I should stick to what I've been doing as it almost seems like I might not get similar results trading by technicals.
One question guys, is it possible that stop loss is not allways working, if price falls very fast?
