John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Washington & other founding fathers would turn in their graves after Trump and his cultists shit on the Constitution on Jan. 6 2021
Arguably it wasn't a rebellion of Americans against British, but of people who up till then had regarded themselves as British, and insisted that they were standing up for their rights as Britons. But in so doing, they became Americans.
When I was in high school, eons ago, we had to write a paper about which character in history we'd most want to spend the day with and why, and I chose Abigail Adams. She was a fascinating woman and ahead of her time with her ideas. A perfect match for John.
a colonial fiddler tune transitioning into an epic march featuring an entire orchestra and then goes back to its humble origin. what other piece can recapitulate the fate of John Adams, indeed, the history of these States United?
I love my country - America. While these great men of God helped create her, I am stuck living in a time when un-Godly men are destroying her - Soros, Sanders, McConnell, Ryan, along with Pelosi, The Clintons, and the Liberals. With Trump, I am undecided. I listen to this theme song, watch this series, and listen to 40 Hour Week by Alabama and I want to cry.
Deren Bong a friend of mine complained about Trump to me. His complaint was that Trump keeps talking to leaders who are a bunch of dictators. My question was, "Would you rather Trump ignore dictators? That has worked out so well in the past." Trump has not been disappointing. He has been surprising in a good way. I pray for our country and our world every day.
Had this on in the living room, left dishes in the sink once this started up. Prime example of Less is More. This intro is impactful in its subtlety. The drums tempo speeds up, the Join-Or-Die flag fully displayed and then the Union Jack of Britain bleeds into the frame like a villain's profile. (The series wasn't a snore either). 👍
There is something almost poetic about that rusty ditty at the beginning that leads into the triumphant crescendo before quieting down to the country dirge at the end. From farmers and humble tradesmen, the leaders of America were elevated to their power...only to relinquish it to said farmers and humble tradesmen at the end.

I love this and I am British. Brings fire to my heart. I love the period of the American Revolution within History and it is my most studied War as much as WW1 and WW2. As a British man, even though it was fought against my own Countrymen the ideas behind the Independence speaks to me and something which I am sad it had to happen through war and bloodshed but something I agree with as I am by far not a Royalist at all. I have always been a Democratic Republic fan over any type of Monarch rule, even a Constitutional one. It is these ideals of the American Revolution which made me want Brexit in 2016 as it is strikingly similar in some weird ways for other reasons! I had wanted it since 2006 when I was 16. This is one of favourite TV Shows and I am a big fan of John Adams
I’m American but my ancestors were in England during the revolution. Didn’t come to America till 1830’s. So it’s crazy for me to think my ancestors were “the enemy”. I grew up in the cradle of the American Revolution, Philadelphia.
Makes total sense. The American Revolution was really the English Enlightenment at its purest and most intense. If you notice, the American Founders rarely talked about being "American" (that idea came later) but are always arguing about what it means to be "English" and that their "English rights" as "Englishmen" are being violated. The American Revolution really was about Englishmen being as English as possible.
Welllll, as one sassy brassy governor of Texas, Ann Richards, once said of George HW Bush, poh loyalists, they were born with polished silver and pewter spoons in their mouths. Give the Bushes time, but boy oh boy, do we need Ann's special gift of humor nowadays. Imagine what a howlin' good laugh fest she and Hillary would have with this present bunch in power. Lawdy! Even Adams would chortle and his son crack a good sardonic Yankee quip that'd rip the living skin off the lowlifes occupying the office today. Lawdy! Hell, Ann would up the spoon to a set of golf irons.
I actually felt my mind elevated by watching this drama. Its up there with "Wolf Hall" for sheer excellence of writing, design, acting and music. Thanks from UK.
Best intro to the best mini series ever produced. So proud to be from Massachusetts when I watch these Boston badasses take on the Loyalist regime. We need this kind of revolution now.
Frederico Pinto the British soldiers were justified in shooting at the crowd in the Boston massacre Don’t get me wrong the British exploited us and we made the right choice in declaring independence
What gets me every time is the Appeal to Heaven Flag. Showed that despite the odds facing the revolutionaries, they remained in good faith and struggled through. Fighting their way through mud and blood, until finally the stars and stripes were hoisted above 13 states, not just united through a document, but through blood and struggle. May the efforts of the first patriots never become forgotten to the sands of time.
It's a quote from the 17th century English philosopher John Locke, refuting the theory of the divine right of kings - if the people are given no right of appeal on earth, they have a right to appeal to heaven for justice.
Convenient that you seemed to forget the most important part of the Appeal to Heaven part. Believing in God. The American revolutionary founders were God-fearing people imbued by the Holy Spirit. Something our godless society has destroyed.
@@rebeccamooney2272 And my heart just breaks for Trump too. He's such a good and wonderful man who's only "crime" was loving America too much. He gave up everything - his lavish lifestyle and way of life - in order to take on the monumental task of bringing us back from the brink. And he succeeded for a while. We were doing great! But he just had too many traitors and Deep Staters in his midst. Things are so different once you're actually in office. I think the Swamp was deeper than even he thought. And now, just to make an "example" of him, the House impeached him again, making him the first president in American history to be impeached twice. It makes me sick. All he wanted was to help. And he got shit on and betrayed so many times. He never had any friends while President, outside of his base. Now, he'll forever be friendless. Even if by some miracle he does get back in, they'll just impeach him again. And he wouldn't be able to get anything done, due to everything being illegally Dem-controlled.
This opening gives me chills. The tune's so simple, the imagery so stark, but it sets such a tone for this series and, in a way, our country as a whole. Of course, there's the famous 'Don't Tread On Me' that New Hampshire still flies today (or as my friends in NH call it, the 'unofficial official state flag'), followed soon by 'Appeal to Heaven'- that comes out of Massachusetts and their strong Puritan faith, for the flag was in use 100 years before the revolution, and taken up as the form of a rallying cry- sort of a, 'despite war, we must strive for peace' type of thing. I could go on and on about just the intro alone, never mind the series and book. Must stop and just enjoy the music.
You hit the nail on the head Will. I wonder if America was always doomed to fail, a country that allowed anyone of any race or religion to rise up on merit, not by birth right. I wonder if the founding fathers could envision Muslims gaining control within government?
Sucio Spanish Bailarines I know right? I hate how people are triggered about god and religion and also triggered about people with to much power, not only is it a balance it humbles people and, for one.
I remember watching this in school. And by golly the opening music intro stuck with me for so long. Even years later, it still gives me goosebumps~! It's the best!
That's awesome! Nathanael Greene was such an amazing General (one of the most/the most of Washington's most trusted. It's awesome you're able to know that part of your family's history.
really sore knee as an American, I appreciate your response. It takes a lot to overcome the pride one inevitably has for their nation and to truly give credit where it is due, even hundreds of years after the events went down.
Great series, Great soundtrack, I get the goosebumps everytime I watch it! I'm a huge fan of the American Revolution from Italy. Keep America Great Patriots!!
Always loved this! Especially stirs the heart for an American vet. Tremendous respect for those who came before us. And Adams sure wasn't the slouch we'd always been told he was in school. 2nd place is no big deal when you're a founding father, IMHO.
As an American whose ancestor was a British officer that joined the American army & lived in the 13 colonies in the American Revolutionary War; these opening credits make me proud of the Liberty that we have in America 🇺🇸 He knew that there was a better way of life in a nation where the people are not ruled by a Royal Monarchial family, but instead is able to decide for themselves who is to represent them as a Republic.
It's May 29, 2024 and I am revisiting this for the first time in years. It still gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. May God bless, protect and guide this country in these difficult times. Too many have sacrificed much to give us the freedoms we have today. Our Founding Fathers knew the risks, but they proceeded anyway. God bless them and all who fought for freedoms we enjoy and those who have served in every generation since.
I'm watching this for the first time (my parents let me borrow the DVDs). Just watched episode two. I am HOOKED. My dad told me as he handed me the DVD to NEVER skip the intro. Some of the best advice he ever gave me. It makes me wanna be like Mel Gibson and run through the field with the American flag, destroying all aspects of tyranny I can find - which is RAMPANT right now.

This is the most inspirational song I have ever heard! When you listen to the song and think of what the Founding Fathers did, it makes you inspired to do great things just like them. Thank you Founding Fathers for making us independent because I don’t know what our world would be like today if Great Britain still had control over our country. I am so thankful of everything everyone has done to make America what it is today! This song make me want to do something great!
Seeing a lot of comments here talking about how the founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw us today. Frankly I think many would be proud for one particular reason. When we tell someone from another nation who we are, we don’t call ourselves Virginian, or Carolinian, or Pennsylvanian, we call ourselves American.
Alex White our founding fathers were not perfect beings. They made some mistakes and did not for see certain possibilities. For that I do not blame them, after all they are only human.
@@alexwhite2377 I grew up around guns, I have hunted since I was a child, I hold a CCW license and also own several guns myself. I also consistently vote for democrats. Do you know why? DrRisen - only a select few but even so that is a violation of their rights even tho it maybe for their own good it is still a violation of their rights. And banning ARs? Also protected by the second amendment... I got republican as do many of the friends! I believe you should too!
I love this music, it makes me patriotic, because when they wrote the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776, and it make me proud for our country, for freedom.
I find this the most inspirational song ever made. It makes me so pumped. Makes me feel like a true American ready to go fight. It makes me want to save are country! Love this song best song ever. Those people who disliked are dam British loyalists. They don't understand true American spirit and hope just from music.
The American spirit of the raw, innate, pure and fierce war cry for LIBERTY shall inspire many generations to come by and many nations across the planet. The spirit shall never die. The spirit of FREEDOM!!
Antifa scum is where all the dislikes come from. They want to destroy everything that has to do with the US of America and eradicate every record of it’s existence…well at least their leadership does. The rest of them are just useful idiots.
I'm English and this music wakes my repressed republican tendencies. Let us not fall into intellectual darkness again, let there be another age of enlightenment! LIBERTY!
And the English have a great great deal of "repressed republican tendencies". 1. Abolish your Monarchy 2. Reform the cluby and stuffy Parliament and elect other parties to that body. 3. Abolish all remaining vestiges of class oppression by opening all of your educational institutes to any person. Abolish Peers and all other titles and their privileges . 4. Rebuild the medieval commons in all your towns and villages. 5. Tax the rich. 5. Abolish Private Banking and tear-down their gaudy skyscrapers in London. That will do for start.
I kind of imagine them in the afterlife, facepalming and head desking themselves, moaning "Why aren't you idiots rebelling?! We gave you the legal means to do it! We wrote it for you, right freaking THERE in the Constitution! Ugh!"
+MuddleThrough4yrs ...Thank You ! You nailed it. The Constitution was written to protect the citizens from exactly what has been going on. However, some of the undermining of the USA has been in the works for approx. 100 years....They've been taking baby steps and slowly accelerating it to the blatant acts of high treason we see now...For me, the current situation is appalling beyond description.
Unfortunately no one appeals to heaven anymore. Our country mocks God and trashes the principals that the country was founded on. Is it any wonder why we find our country in a steady decline?
DarthCipient I don't disagree with you there, there's a lot of fundamental nincompoops who calls themselves "religious", but I think there's also a lot of "atheist fundamentals" present today. What we need is an open discussion, without bashing each others views.

@@rebeccamooney2272 This is why I want Revolution. That is our constitutional DUTY.
I remember watching this back in middle school. The memories..
Just finished John Adams for the first time
I'm not crying you are 😥
Most beautiful intro I've ever seen, gives me goosebumps every time!
I never tire of listening to this...just brilliant
Must stop and just enjoy the music.
watching this in my 10th grade history class and gotta admit this is a really great show
we're watching it in 7th grade lol
+Killua Zoldyck me too my bro
Killua zoldyck watching it in 11th
Im in college taking history and were watching it
Nat Roberts same
Great beginning so America don't forget where you are from!
Why would anyone forget the 13 colonies?
+Mrbrain bob We already have
I’ve heard of this show a few times but never seen the intro lol. I’m thinking about watching it now.
An amazing series. An amazing time. Sacrifice we cannot begin to understand today.
Such an amazing series. I truly miss the days when everyone, no matter our race, creed, religion, or sex, was staunchly *American*
That time only existed when everyone in politics was of the same race, creed, religion, and sex though
You hit the nail on the head Will. I wonder if America was always doomed to fail, a country that allowed anyone of any race or religion to rise up on merit, not by birth right. I wonder if the founding fathers could envision Muslims gaining control within government?
did you forget about slavery?
Those days have never existed. Sorry, but if you truly took "everyone" into account, you'd never have said this.
Appeal to HeavenSuch an epic lineRecognizing and honoring the Supremacy of God has lifted this nation to greatness
rick jackeson plus Trump's reference "in God we trust" on his state of the union speech is priceless
My 6th Great grandfather was In the revolutionary war. He served under Greene in 1781. He was in the army from 1778-1781
That's awesome! Nathanael Greene was such an amazing General (one of the most/the most of Washington's most trusted. It's awesome you're able to know that part of your family's history.

@@markphillips6205 Wtf?
100 percent pure respect for Chris’ 6th great grand father.
Even that general got mentioned in the series. Salute to our vet.

God save the queen!

really sore knee as an American, I appreciate your response. It takes a lot to overcome the pride one inevitably has for their nation and to truly give credit where it is due, even hundreds of years after the events went down.
@really sore knee fuck you god save the monarchy
GOD SAVE OUR AMERICAN STATES! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
Great series, Great soundtrack, I get the goosebumps everytime I watch it! I'm a huge fan of the American Revolution from Italy. Keep America Great Patriots!!
Thank you for your support! We Love Italy and heard that the People are winning over there! ❤❤❤
HBO would never make a show like this today... Thank God I got to see it when it was released. It was the most amazing miniseries I've seen!!!
Why wouldn't they?
Lack of diversity. Everyone in the show is white… Also, the founding fathers were slave owners.
@@zuzumontague there are black people in this show
@@sweetpeach3649 Yes, but they didn’t play any main characters whatsoever. Therefore there wasn’t any representation.
@@zuzumontague So... your argument is that you want them to make shows where there are no speaking african american roles... or...?
Always loved this! Especially stirs the heart for an American vet. Tremendous respect for those who came before us.
And Adams sure wasn't the slouch we'd always been told he was in school. 2nd place is no big deal when you're a founding father, IMHO.
Especially stirs the heart for an American vet' - it's composed by a Brit. (:D
lol, that's very ironic
I love how the Washington Nationals use this in their intro video.
Don't tread on me!
Loved the series; and I am crazy about this theme! Right up there with "game of thrones"
Oh my God this music.

I just love this music!!! So amazing and wonderful to listen to.
Don't ever let them take your freedom.
Great film, learned a lot about Adams life that I did not know before. Entertaining throughout will watch again
Never fails to cover me with chills.
One of the best, most patriotic themes and intro you’ll ever see or hear
I watched this mini series. I loved it. I love the intro.

I can't hear your whining over the epicness of the music. ;)
I love this. It brings tears to my eyes.
My history teacher showed my class this and the opening was the best part
God Bless America!
I swear every time I hear that, I could walk through a brick wall!
Greatest success story in the history of nation building
One of the best TV show intros of all time. Can't stop listening to it.
DrRisen - in the exact words “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” this right has been infringed big time
Alex White our founding fathers were not perfect beings. They made some mistakes and did not for see certain possibilities. For that I do not blame them, after all they are only human.
DrRisen - I’m not blaming our founding fathers! I blame the Government today specifically democrats for infringing in my rights!
@@alexwhite2377 I grew up around guns, I have hunted since I was a child, I hold a CCW license and also own several guns myself. I also consistently vote for democrats. Do you know why? Because being around guns all my life has taught me a very important lesson. Some people should never, ever, have access to them.
DrRisen - only a select few but even so that is a violation of their rights even tho it maybe for their own good it is still a violation of their rights. And banning ARs? Also protected by the second amendment... I got republican as do many of the friends! I believe you should too!
Powerful opening.
I love this music, it makes me patriotic, because when they wrote the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776, and it make me proud for our country, for freedom.
Hello fellow railfan!
Who else is jamming this on July 4th!
APPEAL TO HEAVEN
I find this the most inspirational song ever made. It makes me so pumped. Makes me feel like a true American ready to go fight. It makes me want to save are country! Love this song best song ever. Those people who disliked are dam British loyalists. They don't understand true American spirit and hope just from music.
The American spirit of the raw, innate, pure and fierce war cry for LIBERTY shall inspire many generations to come by and many nations across the planet. The spirit shall never die. The spirit of FREEDOM!!
Fricken brave heart refrence at the end right ;D
+Will Morgan I'm shitting myself about Brexit. Our executives have too much power as it is with our weak arse judicial 'Supreme Court'.
+Will Morgan At first, I thought you were being serious. Then I kept reading.
I hope you're still not sore about that revolution business :D
you were soooo close.. and then you went all retarded and leftist.
These men would be rolling in their graves if they could see what this country has come to.
I kind of imagine them in the afterlife, facepalming and head desking themselves, moaning "Why aren't you idiots rebelling?! We gave you the legal means to do it! We wrote it for you, right freaking THERE in the Constitution! Ugh!"
+Jorel032777 Like an old house barely standing up Amerrica needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.
And now we have criminals and communists running for president
Trumps's gonna make it great again.
Watching this show in my 8th grade American history class and everyone loves the show i highly recommend checking it out

The Americans appealed to heaven. The Americans defeated the greatest empire known to man. That is what it takes to rise so fucking high.
Unfortunately no one appeals to heaven anymore. Our country mocks God and trashes the principals that the country was founded on. Is it any wonder why we find our country in a steady decline?
+cbj54 I am a Swede myself but your words are pure wisdom, sir! Because the same is happening here.
+cbj54 Quite the opposite. America is in decline because there are too many fucking religious fundamentalists within it.
DarthCipient
I don't disagree with you there, there's a lot of fundamental nincompoops who calls themselves "religious", but I think there's also a lot of "atheist fundamentals" present today. What we need is an open discussion, without bashing each others views.
False the roman empire was the greatest and most blessed
