But if you don't exist, then you could never have gone back to shoot your grandfather, therefore meaning he isn't dead. But if he DOES live, so do you, and you therefore kill him, meaning he's dead again...
This is why I prefer the "many worlds" version of time travel. By going back in time to kill your grandfather, you instead create a new timeline wherein you cannot come to exist, while leaving the timeline wherein you _do_ exist effectively untouched, therefore overcoming the paradox.

This is a really cool video and you bring up some really good points, but I'm not entirely sure if this is a time paradox thing. For one that human with the weird controller might not be playing splatoon, for all we know the humans in the splatoon universe made a game that's not splatoon but still uses the super weird control setup, actually in a world of humans that are super fixated on war and military development it might not even be culturally appropriate to create a game about waging "turf wars" And on the part of splatune it could also be that it's just a compilation of battle tracks, after all in their universe all the songs that would be on that record wouldn't just be from a video game, it would be made by a real life popular band. Did the corporation stop getting old transmissions for some reason and have to come up with one of their own? Was it a mistranslation of an actual theme? Or did the human transmission predict Callie and Marie?

I agree with you on the time paradox idea. There is enough evidence to create a theory, but I'm not sure if it's really enough to go any further. I feel that the odds that one of the writers specifically wanted the art to made the way it was, or a random artist just making a funny reference because why not (or that there actually are time travellers) are at about equal odds. A good theory, but not really enough to have anything left after the headache. As someone who used to spend a lot of time theorizing about Sonic the Hedgehog lore, I can say time paradoxes are an extremely common plot device that sometimes have an equal chance of being an imporntaint chunk of lore as being just a random plot device that had little intent. I have to disagree with you when you say the equipment the human soldier at 4:17 has is technologically advanced in fact It looks pretty retro. The gun first off looks like either a Steyer AUG with a M1 Thompson barrel or a M14 with an AUG scope and Thompson barrel. The uniform looks like its from the 1960s/1980s. The camo pattern looks like a form of camo the JGSDF used In the 50s and the Same goes for the helmet. I don't know why the soldier was wearing headphones on the outside of his helmet though.My personal theory is that humanity waged war so much that they had to reapropiate old technology because it would cost less to modify already existing equipment than to create new tech. Anyways that's the only thing i have to say, everything else was awesome.

Well technically the great flood doesn't have to happen in 2015 with this. Really we could say it could have happened in any year after that up until the day Nintendo shuts Splatoon 1 down, that would be our timeframe (which would allow for Splatoon 2 and likely 3 to also exist perhaps) as even now there are still people playing Splatoon 1. Heck, we could extend it indefinitely past that if that person was playing the singleplayer or battle dojo instead of the online multiplayer (and the fact he has that Wii Remote and pro controller setup heavily implies he WAS playing Battle Dojo, so he very well could have been playing Splatoon 1 in basically any year after 2015, don't know why someone would be playing Splatoon 1's Battle Dojo like 50 or more years in the future but hey, it's possible).
This isn't a bad theory, but two things make it fall through, kinda. One, the most clear, is the Splatunes. In Canon, the Level Themes are all made by in-universe bands, such as the Hero Mode themes being made by the Squid Sisters / Off The Hook / Deep Cut, depending on the game, on the fly. (Plus DJ Octavio's banger Remix of Calamari Inkantation, that shit was being cooked while he was kicking a Bear's ass.) The Second is that the Wii U's incredibly stoopid Pro Controller set up could very well have been used for another shooter in Splatoon's timeline. In fact, in this timeline could very well house the Original Concept for Splatoon, that being the Rabbit Game. Like I said, not a bad theory, but it is flawed. And, y'know, there's no precedence for Time Travel in Splatoon.

There’s most likely a tube attached to their internal ink sac and this would attach to their ink tank and when they go into the ink to refill it goes through the sac to your ink tank

At the beginning you didn't explain what makes killing your grandfather paradoxical. If you went in time to kill him you wouldn't exist and if you didn't exist you wouldn't have been able to go back in time to kill your grandfather so therefore you would exist again. Well eight looks back at the camera at the end of OE and smiles, and I personally can’t think of a reason they would do that other than if they knew a camera or some other form of video capturing media was there and knew that someone was watching it. This would (in theory) prove that eight knew that they would be sent to the deep sea metro and get out at the very least, which could technically mean that fate (in the splatoon universe) is set from the moment one’s existence starts. Whether or not the average person knows that their fate is sealed from the start at birth is up in the air, but for sake of example I’m going to say it isn’t. This would mean that eight had to find out about their fate in one way or another, which could mean either eight is a physic who can see into the future or means that eight found some form of the octo expansion at one point in their life. This would mean splatoon 2 and OE would exist in the splatoon universe and probably means that splatoon three will also exist in universe.

The gun first off looks like either a Steyer AUG with a M1 Thompson barrel or a M14 with an AUG scope and Thompson barrel. The uniform looks like its from the 1960s/1980s. The camo pattern looks like a form of camo the JGSDF used In the 50s and the Same goes for the helmet. I don't know why the soldier was wearing headphones on the outside of his helmet though.My personal theory is that humanity waged war so much that they had to reapropiate old technology because it would cost less to modify already existing equipment than to create new tech. Anyways that's the only thing i have to say, everything else was awesome.

I think that in this universe Nintendo made a game that used the same motion control trick of splatoon or made a game similar to splatoon and splatunes and octunes can simply be the "now that's what I call music" of the splatoon world

Well technically the great flood doesn't have to happen in 2015 with this. Really we could say it could have happened in any year after that up until the day Nintendo shuts Splatoon 1 down, that would be our timeframe (which would allow for Splatoon 2 and likely 3 to also exist perhaps) as even now there are still people playing Splatoon 1. Heck, we could extend it indefinitely past that if that person was playing the singleplayer or battle dojo instead of the online multiplayer (and the fact he has that Wii Remote and pro controller setup heavily implies he WAS playing Battle Dojo, so he very well could have been playing Splatoon 1 in basically any year after 2015, don't know why someone would be playing Splatoon 1's Battle Dojo like 50 or more years in the future but hey, it's possible).
I just thought the guy was revisiting Splatoon one when the earth flooded but all the other Splatoon games were already out.

This isn't a bad theory, but two things make it fall through, kinda.
One, the most clear, is the Splatunes. In Canon, the Level Themes are all made by in-universe bands, such as the Hero Mode themes being made by the Squid Sisters / Off The Hook / Deep Cut, depending on the game, on the fly.
(Plus DJ Octavio's banger Remix of Calamari Inkantation, that shit was being cooked while he was kicking a Bear's ass.)
The Second is that the Wii U's incredibly stoopid Pro Controller set up could very well have been used for another shooter in Splatoon's timeline. In fact, in this timeline could very well house the Original Concept for Splatoon, that being the Rabbit Game.
Like I said, not a bad theory, but it is flawed.
And, y'know, there's no precedence for Time Travel in Splatoon.

In Splatoon the Inklings/Octolings have ink sacs right? Well how do they get the ink into their ink tank? And from there into their ink tank and weapons/sub/weapons?
Pretty sure that they refill their own ink sacs with their pores or something. Don’t quote me on that though. Doesn’t explain how it gets in a tank though.
There’s most likely a tube attached to their internal ink sac and this would attach to their ink tank and when they go into the ink to refill it goes through the sac to your ink tank
I say that Nintendo re-released the wii U as the “wii Z” as one of those classic things at the time of WW5. As to whether Splatoon exists in splatoon, I don’t really think so.
This gets more confusing now that splatoon 3 is out. You can get nintendo Switch Games for your lockers, which implies that the Wii U isn't the last console and means that at least splatoon 2 exists.

At the beginning you didn't explain what makes killing your grandfather paradoxical. If you went in time to kill him you wouldn't exist and if you didn't exist you wouldn't have been able to go back in time to kill your grandfather so therefore you would exist again. There are theories on how paradoxes can be avoided like the multiverse but that's... a lot.

Well eight looks back at the camera at the end of OE and smiles, and I personally can’t think of a reason they would do that other than if they knew a camera or some other form of video capturing media was there and knew that someone was watching it. This would (in theory) prove that eight knew that they would be sent to the deep sea metro and get out at the very least, which could technically mean that fate (in the splatoon universe) is set from the moment one’s existence starts. Whether or not the average person knows that their fate is sealed from the start at birth is up in the air, but for sake of example I’m going to say it isn’t. This would mean that eight had to find out about their fate in one way or another, which could mean either eight is a physic who can see into the future or means that eight found some form of the octo expansion at one point in their life. This would mean splatoon 2 and OE would exist in the splatoon universe and probably means that splatoon three will also exist in universe.
