All to meet our targets… It’s like in Europe they shut down several industries and set them up elsewhere in a couple countries in Europe which wasn’t signed up to the Paris accords and other such agreements. Didn’t make anything greener, just produced the waste elsewhere but worse as every industry had to be quickly expanded and ramped up to meet demands.

Coal is not cleaner at all, the reason why we don't have smog in our cities anymore is because we moved away from coal. Gas is actually clean in terms of particulates

Heat pumps are no good in older houses and does not provide hot water!! What about more tidal, hydro and nuclear? Wind and solar are un-reliable. Winters less sun and wind and that is when you need it, Complete madness!! Also if we have so much wind Why are our energy prices so high. Gas and electricity should be cheap and affordable to all.
A lot of interesting information from Charles, why the hell don’t we have someone like this with real expertise in charge of our energy needs instead of a clown like Milliband.
Just looking at what happened in the USA this week. With the storm it's very fool hardy to put so much trust in the renewable energy system. One good storm and it is gone.
Doesn’t even need a good storm. The off shore constantly brakes down due to corrosion and not enough spares or engineers. Never mind they can only run if the wind is just right, not too strong or too light. The panels don’t work very well or for long in these fast approaching darker nights and winter months.
Imagine what this country and it's people would benefit - the massive social and business gains, the societal equanimity that could be attained, a national sense of justice and sanity, if only one Labour front bencher, only one respected member of that party, were to intervene during parliament sitting, and say, "OK, that's enough. Let's stop this punitive, unattainable, vengeful and unrealistic bollocks here and now and ask the people "What do you want us to do for you?"
Charles, what a professional. Knows his figures and the reality of energy here and around the world. Wish he was running energy policy, I think we just want secure energy at a fair price. Best wishes all.
Sack Sillyband and give Charles his job . Get shut of Starmer and Labour and give Nigel and the Reform party the job of running the country properly . We are going downhill fast with these Clowns .
How many solar panels and wind turbines will it take to power the power hungry data centres and AI hubs they want to build? How many of both of these will we need to meet the demand of the, trying to force the nation to use EVs? Given they don’t want to tackle illegal or legal migration which means a rapidly expanding population of people who are consumers, how many of the two will we need to meet the demands of this population growth? Increased population also means increased emissions so the net zero goal posts will move as the population rises. These are the idiots what want to spend £22b on carbon capture facilities when spending £5m planting trees would capture more carbon. Plant them up stream and they support nature, reduce the risk of flood damage & as a result will save money on flood damage.
Obviously we can’t plant trees because where will all the new homes go for our new neighbours or the only farm land etc. they are interested in wind and solar ones.
Fu…ng incompetence from high. Never seen anything like it. For goodness sake someone high up step in and dissolve this government. We cannot continue like this.
I've insulated my house to the maximum, including draft proofing and a new A rated combi boiler. My house is still cold and will not retain the heat, due to UK weather being so cold. This is one of the most concerning issues facing the country and virtually no-one is talking about it. I would be more than astonished if Labour can come up with a coherent plan for energy in the UK.
Are we effing stupid we close down our own gas to buy gas from abroad
All to meet our targets…
It’s like in Europe they shut down several industries and set them up elsewhere in a couple countries in Europe which wasn’t signed up to the Paris accords and other such agreements. Didn’t make anything greener, just produced the waste elsewhere but worse as every industry had to be quickly expanded and ramped up to meet demands.
Charles last point is so perfectly put, in time Britain may be a green haven from top to bottom, but all our needs will be imported, with no jobs at home how will we pay for that?
BBC today, report about councils burning waste, INCLUDING PLASTIC household waste in order to produce our expensive electricity whilst polluting the air that we and our children are breathing in real time. Coal is cleaner as is gas. I am so angry about this!
Coal is not cleaner at all, the reason why we don't have smog in our cities anymore is because we moved away from coal. Gas is actually clean in terms of particulates
Coal power station have scrubbers that take out most of the harmful emissions.
@@brianthirling9260 scrubbers are mostly to remove sulfur dioxide, which causes acid rain. It's very difficult to stop particulates without passing flue gases through a filter, which would be extremely expensive
@@James-tv4pl CO2 scrubbers are available, and can even be retro-fitted to existing sites. Ref. "Design of retrofit flue gas (CO2) scrubber for dependable clean energy" etc.
@@hattmarvey1989 Carbon capture and storage isn't widely used because of the costs of installing and maintaining it. Also, it's more cost-efficient to create new carbon-free energy resources than to create new fossil fuel power stations and fit them with the expensive carbon capture and storage facilities. Carbon capture would only be viable for existing power plants which can't be shut down yet, and even then it's probably better to invest in green energy in the long term
Can anyone answer why in the last 10-20 years, every single aspect of every single governmental policy has been suicidal and detrimental to British citizens & our quality of life?
Putting a Milliband in charge of something as important as a nations energy policy is setting the scene for disaster.
Brilliant analysis
Thank you Sir
Fantastic discussion
Thank you gentlemen
Love Talk TV
The madness of net zero
Thank you
I agree wholeheartedly with this chap , his cold does of honest reality is a welcome change from the corporate numpties I have to deal with across the Uk electricity industry. This is peak mount stupid over the 38 years I have worked at the heart of it all.
I vote for Charles Mcallister for Energy Minister, common sense!
Why cannot we heat our central heating radiators with electric boilers? Answer. The cost would likely be crippling and we do not generate enough electricity.
There is absolutely no way in hell it's Ed's plan he doesn't possess the intellect he's here under instruction
The cheapest option would have just been to continue to make the internal combustion engine more efficient and cleaner. Same with boilers etc.
Milliband should be in prison if the lights go out and his whole team for malfeascance in public office
Who pays for the insulation?
The government doesn't have any money. The subsidies come from us.
What on earth are these clowns doing to this country. A vote of no confidence now.
The only think that will be Zero is my Bank Balance under these clowns
Charles, what a professional. Knows his figures and the reality of energy here and around the world. Wish he was running energy policy, I think we just want secure energy at a fair price. Best wishes all.
Sack Sillyband and give Charles his job . Get shut of Starmer and Labour and give Nigel and the Reform party the job of running the country properly . We are going downhill fast with these Clowns .
He should be in government, great to hear him explaining the crap that milliband talks about
How many solar panels and wind turbines will it take to power the power hungry data centres and AI hubs they want to build?
What a great guest.
I wish someone would give Ed Miliband a physics lesson.
He wouldn’t understand it, sadly.
This young fellow has a far superior understanding of the energy market and should be listened to. Miliband should be replaced ASAP(sacked)
Fu…ng incompetence from high. Never seen anything like it. For goodness sake someone high up step in and dissolve this government. We cannot continue like this.
Having just sold a massive reserve in North sea to Norway and Israel , crazy , no expioration rediculous !
All comes back to the privatisation of the CEGB and the DNOs
Plus the privatisation of British gas 😢
Excellent guest Ian.
Miliband will bring the country to its knees.
What a brilliant guy speaking sense.
"...no one wants to rock the boat..." Well then it's very simple, the boat will sink.🪫
People haven't got the money to better install insulation or heat pumps.
I've insulated my house to the maximum, including draft proofing and a new A rated combi boiler. My house is still cold and will not retain the heat, due to UK weather being so cold. I'm a retired chartered Surveyor and done lots or work insulating houses. I have only saved 20% on my bills and spent over £10k on improvements. 😢
Lets rock the boat people boycot this government Vote Reform in the Council elections, its a start to fight back against this madness
💯👏💯👏
Get rid of Ed,he'll live in luxury while the rest of us freeze.
Vote Reform 🇬🇧
