What difference does that make? Renewable infrastructure prices have been falling, just put a solar / battery install on my house 3 years ago payback was 15 years now its 6 estimated saving of the system 44,000
@SlowhandGreg Because in order for China to manufacture the majority of the worlds EVs, batteries, solar panels, wind farms... not only will take decades, they will need to at the very least treble their coal power station capacity, now, if you take into consideration that there are a total of 2,422 coal power stations globally including China's, we know that roughly 30% of the remaining 1,261 will be gone by 2030, that's 378 power stations less, however we also know that theses will be vastly offset by China's underestimation (as shown in previous years data) of 500 new much larger coal power stations. So an actual increase of 122 power stations and as these are to be mega power stations the output will invariably be much higher, so, how's all this net zero nonsense going to help, when the evidence shows otherwise?
@Ren-pn4bo Great question! Wouldn't have a clue, however we do know that there are currently over 11,000 wind turbines in the UK and this year combined they produced just 3% of all electricity. The leibour government want to build another 2,600 at by 2030 at a cost of £48B which will likely be a lot more than that, which they believe will be sufficient enough to power all EVs, heat pumps... Donnachadh McCarthy is talking absolute bollocks, a wind generator doesn't produce free energy, firstly you have to pay for the wind generator and that goes on to the electricity bill, each one costs several £million, secondly you have to build transmission infrastructure to get the electricity from generator to user, another cost comes in maintenance of the generators and transmission infrastructure which costs around £250,000 a year, why else do you think that they are so heavily subsidised by the tax payer, Miliband has actually increased the subsidy to almost double the previous level otherwise the companies wouldn't bother developing any more wind farms as they are not profitable for them. The whole green energy drive is a massive con on the British people, the other point as to why fossil fuels were so expensive was because despite huge coal reserves and oil and gas reserves we pandered to the eco lobby and stopped exploiting our own sources and were importing coal, oil and gas that was much more expensive to do so, we have 550 years worth of coal in the ground but are crippling this country instead of using it so Miliband and Starmer can play at eco warriors, they are morons.

The next price "shock" will be when Hinkley Point C comes on line. Previous government agreed a strike price of £100 per mega watt. That's double what the contracted price is typically for offshore generated electricity. I believe in Nuclear as part of our energy mix, but it's been deliberately kicked into the long grass for far too long.
Even if I agreed with the approach they're taking to their energy policy (I most definitely don't), I still wouldn't accept a thoroughly inadequate zealot like Milliband to be entrusted with delivering it.
Why has the Labour government taken the price cap off the energy bills? Why are we already paying extra green tax on our energy and seeing our bills go UP all the time. We are paying the highest price for our energy bills in Europe. That is because of government control or lack of.
Net zero on UK's less-than-1% carbon 'emissions'... at what cost? Where are the impact studies? There is NO CLIMATE EMERGENCY. Even the IPC states that. All based on modelling and selective data.
What we all know is that whilst net zero has gathered momentum our bills have gone through the roof - in 2010 my energy bill was about £30 a month - now it £140 - and was over £200 at the worst of it. To fill up our gas tank was about £500 now it is nearly £2000 ..... so where is all this cheap energy they keep talking about ? Don't they realise that expensive energy hurts the poorest and most vulnerable the most -- where is that cost in their rush to get this done ??
I'm a joiner and making new windows for our house. I was told to put trickle vents into every window to allow for air changes or they won't get passed. I said why now and not before? Building control said because houses are insulated to death now and so tight that its causing condensation and mould growth! So this irish guy is advocating for one thing and its causing other problems. I'm not against renewables, but do this in a sensible way, and also do this in a steady timescale rather than a 100m sprint.
That guy doesn't seem to understand that 'renewables' aren’t always generating, and often aren't rhere when it's needed. It's no surprise that reliable generation charges more when it's called upon because it has to make up for the times when it's sitting there waiting to go.
We import and use electricity from the Netherlands produced by coal powered power stations at the same time we are closing down our own coal powered plants. Is this really going green?

We share energy with ireland and they have a coal site. The point is that the energy in batteries is only as green as the whole power grid there is no reason to suppose energy in them comes from a green source.
We're sitting on Millions of Tonnes of Coal and Gas. Literally surrounded by Fish. Plenty of Farming land. ONLY Complete Looonatics could have brought us to this point.
No running costs. Every single turbine requires MAINTENANCE. So expensive is that M that in the USA when a farm starts to wear out in bulk the whole site gets abandoned!!!!!!! Blades wear....at the joints....in the fatigue of thier construction ....and unexpectedly very heavy wear on their surfaces, chipping and thining. Friction on the air and particulate in the air like birds, insects and grit/ sand/dust. For a blade to work it requires an aerofoil section. And the more that section becomes warn it loses laminar flow across it and the ability to turn in the wind productively. So gangs of men are out risking their lives on the end of ropes, abseiling down 80foot blades...filling holes and making patches. In an ordinary power station sealed bearings are accessible and need no serviceing , lubrication is simple and easily applied. Etc. In 15 to 25 years turbines are gone, worn out ,kupputt, defunct. And at the end of life of an enormous blade where does it go????? Covered over by being buried in the group....what an env disaster!!!!!
If private investors are putting 40bn in they must be getting 60bn from us in return otherwise why invest. How much will Milaband be getting via the back door. MPs don't promote anything unless their pockets are getting filled from it!

Renewable Energy has always been uncompetitive. One of the first wind farms at Mersey Docks relied on Government subsidies to be built. It wasn’t possible to build any more because they weren’t competitive after tax payer priming was removed. In any case, unless you live in a sunny climate it can only typically supply 10% of demand. Leave it to the market to make the decisions, if it’s possible to build economically industries will respond. What do Labour politicians and Net Zero zealots know about engineering? Prices are all manipulated to their mad ideas!
The governing class seem over excited about pleasing Greta and, of course, the salaries and expenses to be claimed.
"Up to..." and "Can" are the kinds of words used by marketing people trying to sell a product marginally different from what already exists.
We need MORE carbon.
Considering they want everyone to be driving electric vehicles where is all this electricity supposed to be generated. The man lives on another planet.
That man should be locked up his a traitor
Or sent back to,Ireland rather than monetisation of a false fear. Exactly what ir wrong with being warmer when we’re exiting an ice age! Let’s forget the maunder minima for the moment too.
Need to say which man? Hope you refer to Macarthy! - on the left,
So why are you slapping us with a green energy tax on our bill
Anything based on modelling is utter total bollocks. If you believe Siliband then here is an handcart.
Why is it always across agricultural land?
Surely, he was hypnotised by teletubbies ?.
Look up "strike price" with regard to renewable energy prices and see how badly we're being screwed.😠
Also, no one talks about resources required to MAKE turbines, or how long they last (15-20 yrs max).
"Free electricity". Bollox.
I hate this man and the delusional crap he spreads.🤬
The next price "shock" will be when Hinkley Point C comes on line. Previous government agreed a strike price of £100 per mega watt. That's double what the contracted price is typically for offshore generated electricity. I believe in Nuclear as part of our energy mix, but it's been deliberately kicked into the long grass for far too long.
Even if I agreed with the approach they're taking to their energy policy (I most definitely don't), I still wouldn't accept a thoroughly inadequate zealot like Milliband to be entrusted with delivering it.
@TalkTV : Porsche has invented a new fuel that has zero emissions and can be put in all ICE cars. Please do a video on this!
The models are rigged by paid stooges
What we all know is that whilst net zero has gathered momentum our bills have gone through the roof - in 2010 my energy bill was about £30 a month - now it £140 - and was over £200 at the worst of it. To fill up our gas tank was about £500 now it is nearly £2000 ..... so where is all this cheap energy they keep talking about ? Don't they realise that expensive energy hurts the poorest and most vulnerable the most -- where is that cost in their rush to get this done ??
Why are Labour ministers all like robots.
It will lower bills .....WHEN ED ????????? A load of old codswollop
McCarthy talks complete balls
Nice attempt to appear human never has anybody worn a yellow jacket and seemed so unbelievable.
Milliband should not be in this job..its a job for adults only
Lunacy & Utter BS, Net Zero Insanity.
He's not called Mad Milliband for nothing 😂
Absolute total and utter madness! Mr Ed has a vested interest in all this net zero nonsense
We import and use electricity from the Netherlands produced by coal powered power stations at the same time we are closing down our own coal powered plants. Is this really going green?
If it is so important to secure our energy why dont we reverse the governments policy of not drilling for oil, gas, fracking etc.
Ed Milliband got £34,000 pound of tax payers money to refurbish his office even though there was nothig wrong with it when asked what he done with it his answer was I dont know he was asked did you get a new chair he laughed and said lets talk about the green energy i am doing bla bla ..So where has that money gone ?
The cheaper this renewable energy gets the more our industry disappears and the poorer we get. Please explain.
Building battery sites that are powered from the grid and so from coal gas nuclear sources and then calling it green.
There is no coal in the uk energy system.
Everybody please go on National Grid Live ,see what we are using in energy , 2030 not a chance
That guy is a looney NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE. FFS WAKE UP.
'Completely and utterly insane' method of generating long term electricity-just like Millipratt, completely and utterly insane.
Oh not independant modelling modled by the independant company he's a director of it stinks
Renewables only provided around 7% of our energy needs this week due to no wind. Over 60% was provided by fossil fuels
If we're following global prices why is our electricity up to 4 times more than other countries..I might have the maths wrong on this but why did the interviewer not ask why our energy costs are so much higher than other countries ? It feels like we're being scammed
We know all about independent modelling , it said 60000 peoplecwould die of covid every day . What a load of crap .
Real debate is how long do we put up with this? Is the time for politeness over?
government was supposed to build another's dame and dragged the water, making sure drainage was clean, we have solar panels, and we have not saved that much, as we don't have enough sun
This man should be certified.
I love Ian. Still giggle about him saying “she looked at me as if I was a bit of dirt and she was Vim.” Just brilliant! 😂😂😂
Plenty of British oil under the North Sea! Only our stupid government won’t let us drill and use it! That would make us a wealthy power self sufficient country again!
it's cheaper when you increase the price of the alternatives.
Just clueless
A madman in charge of a limitless budget, what can go wrong
A stupid idea based on wishful thinking and not facts.
He shouldn’t be allowed out without a minder.
Anyone that believes their bills will be lower needs their head reading😅
Renewable Energy has always been uncompetitive. One of the first wind farms at Mersey Docks relied on Government subsidies to be built. It wasn’t possible to build any more because they weren’t competitive after tax payer priming was removed. In any case, unless you live in a sunny climate it can only typically supply 10% of demand. Leave it to the market to make the decisions, if it’s possible to build economically industries will respond. What do Labour politicians and Net Zero zealots know about engineering? They just have an empty space above their mouths. All they are doing increasing costs and impoverishing our country.
I have to say private investor's want payback this guy is absolutely thick.??
All this energy is broken and splintered on the ground in wales
Utter Madnes..Utter Madness......Question...Over the last few weeks the uk has been blanketed by rain and clouds How have the solar panels performed
So net zero by 2030.. is this also going to be pushed back 10 years like everything else gets pushed back ?
