I'm trying to get away from anything associated with plastics, including elastics, so I use hair ties only when I have to (work, sports, formal). This pencil technique is excellent for casual situations. I've found that if you wrap your hair around the pencil more than once, it holds way better. I now have a collection of hair pins, but I'll use anything! So many video's for guys with long hair showing that typical "man bun" that totally sucks. Thanks again! Alternatives are always a good thing!
