I saw Down in 2008 and Rex was great onstage. Hell the whole band was absolutely fantastic. He will always be a legend in my eyes. But yeah, alcohol can fuck you up.

To go as hard is that band did for as long as they did it's amazing the dude still is alive. Both Pantera and Down went a 1000% on anything and everything they did. Down II was recorded in 28 days with all of the members completely out of their minds on everything and anything you can think of.
The issue is the SMOKE in the lungs , not the properties of the plant.
In Rex's book, he stated that he "can't even touch that chronic shit anymore." And now he's using it medically. Good for him, I guess. His decision to release a solo album and do his own thing and get away from metal is probably really good for him, he just seems really out of it in this interview.
The first time I smoked weed, was at a PANTERA concert. Fort Worth, Texas, my home. I was 12 years old. It was the New Years eve bash, I had a fucken blast!!!! Thank you REX, For all the great times. We all love you here in FORT WORTH, TEXAS
