    I visited the Palace on the Isle (and the surrounding Lazienki Park) in the summer of 2021. Warsaw as a whole was a wonderful surprise, exceeding my expectations, and the Palace was the highlight of my trip to this beautiful city. This video was a great reminder of my visit to one of my favorite places I've visited in Europe. Like Mr. Salomon implores: Go.

    What a wonderful tale. Thank you for including Łazienki in your lectures. If you come to Warsaw you will see that now the palace and the park are not on the outskirts, but quite close to the Old Town and the city centre, opposite government buildings.

    Wonderful and very detailed. One thing: Stanislaw August cannot be credited with the constitution of 1791; he was against it during most of the parliamentary debates and only jumped on the bandwagon at the very last stage. Otherwise: amazing! 👏👏

    Thank you for sharing Lazienki with us and your discussion of Poniatowski. It is definitely on my itinerary when we return to Warsaw next time. Lazienki and Frick have so many parallels. At least the Romanovs didn't spend any time at the Frick. Or did they?

    So glad that this 18th century jewel largely survives. As an aside; is it just me or does the bed seem unusually small. I've noticed that in some palaces the beds seem rather small even allowing for differences in stature.

    • @baskina
      @baskina 4 года назад +1

      I've read recently, that the reason for beds being rather small ( in our view) is the fact, that people slept in upright position. Lying down meant to be on the dead bed.

    Xavier clearly knows his stuff, and the idea for this series is excellent, but I'm too much of a proletarian to appreciate these royal extravagances, even if they are open to the public now.

    Good presentation. Just one small mistake: maris Theresia was Archduchess of Austria, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, etc etc. - daughter of the HR Emperor Charles VI., her husband Francis Stephan got elected as HR German emperor Francis I. and she was the mother of the HR German Emperor Joseph II. - she wasn't "Empress of Austria"
