    thanks for a great review
I have owned a full Arendal 1723 system since they first came to market some 6 years ago now and they still bring a smile to my face
just last week I added 1961 Monitors as wide speakers making it a 9.1.6 system
my only wish is that they would introduce a in-wall 1723 to put behind my PJ screen
    good luck with the channel

Hey, I already own a 1961 1V subwoofer with Q Acoustics 3020i/3090Ci/3010i speakers on the base level and Dali Alteco hooked up to a NAD T758 V3i in a 5.1.2 Top Middle configuration. I'm on the fence about either buying an external 6-channel amp and another set of Altecos to go for a 5.1.4 configuration and stressing my receiver a bit less, or swapping out my center channel for the Arendal 1961 Center (It sometimes feels like the QA center might be a bit too small for my room (3.2m listening distance)). I could get a good deal on the amp and Altecos, so that option would only be slightly more expensive than selling my current center and going for the Arendal.
My concerns are mismatch in the front stage (I have Dirac Live on my receiver though, so that might compensate it adequately) and high load on my receiver (1961 center rated at 4 Ohm).
Which upgrade path would make more sense in your opinion?

    • @htnorthman6234
      @htnorthman6234  2 года назад +1

Hi. Amp is always a good route. Keeping speakers the same is the best for even sound stage. Arendal does the 60 day buy and try. Im actually goin to get the 1723s center just for more range. The center channel actually does a lot of work the more I learn about our hobby. Im also getting a Outlaw 7000x amp. I want my receiver to run cooler! Lol. Go with what feels right to you. Good luck Martin.

Hey, thanks for sharing! This video has helped me to go the Arendal Sound route as well. I’m thinking about choosing the 1723 Towers for L/R and the 1723 Centre. For the rears i’m actually thinking about using the 1961 monitors, would you say that the 1961 monitors would be a good fit for use as rear channels? I dont want to use the Tri-axials Line (surround models) as i want my theater to be as close to Dolby spec as possible. (And Dolby states that all speakers should be "point source")
    Greetings from Denmark!

    • @htnorthman6234
      @htnorthman6234  2 года назад +2

      Hi
The 1961 monitors. They would work good for that. I know the Tri-axial sounds have a switch to turn side speakers on and off also. I guess it would depend if you want to run your speakers full range. You got the 1723S series also. Get extra and compare them. 60 day buy and try. See what you like best. Then return the ones you dont want. Good luck from Wisconsin.😀🍻🍻🍻

To be honest, it was kinda no contest. Long-time 1961 owner here (since they were released); that whole series is highly recommended. IMO they are the best budget speaker series almost no one knows about. Thankfully, that seems to be changing. NOTE: The back of all of the 1961 speakers (except the Towers) are VESA 100 compatible.

Hey mate! Thank you for sharing your opinon with the community. Liked your video. I am considering to upgrade my system with Arendal speakers too as the receive great objective and subjective reviews and I have some questions for you. I will be grad if you have the opportunity to answer these questions.
    1) How big is your room? How far is the distance from the Main speakers to the Main Listening Position?
    2) Did you use the Arendals with a sub or full range?
3)Did you consider the bigger series (1723/ 1723s)?
    4) Did you buy the bookshelves? If yes , how does it sound compared to the monitor?
    Thanks a lot!

      Hi Nikos
      My room is 15x22 ft.
Im at 11 ft from my front stage.
We just did two channel listening at full range. No sub.
I did consider the 1723s series. However a bit more in price. After hearing the 1961 I am sold.
Dont have the bookshelfs. However I will be getting the atmos speakers soon.
The monitors are goin to be my side and back surround speakers. The 1961 towers in front with 1723s for my center. Atmos in ceiling then. Probably 1723 1v sub.
      Hope this helps.

Did you make measurements with REW for example to see what frequency response you had at the listening point ?
I am talking about putting both loudspeakers in the same location and in

@@htnorthman6234 If you do not have measurements of the speakers in your room, it is impossible.
      compare a product objectively.
A clear example, if the Magnat in your room at the main listening point has a different frequency response than the Arendal and vice versa, the result is not objective.
Hence my question about REW measurements.

If you want a speaker by only measurements thats up to you. I chose which one sounded best to me. In the end that is what you need to do. Listen to the speakers. See which ones sound better to you and nobody else. I did my research way before even getting to this point of purchase. Im not selling or making any money with my one video dude. Just an opinion. THX . but have you ever been to an actual professional THX cinema and if so list the cinema the films , film type . as most just buy THX have 0 clue what to expect , since THX designed to go beyond the substandard of cinemas that had poor sound up til 1983 and maybe few was okay ? i seen same film print 70mm in standard Dolby ABC 1 bournemouth and same 70mm again in THX sound system , way , way dB huge difference , 'indiana jones and the last crusade' at CIC Empire Licester Square
and since then wanted JBL professional even the same pro THX sound system .
seen many of same standard and in THX and THX pro spec
but can those speakers THX play 'star trek 6' opening music credits before the explosion and can you set them up using manual EQ 1/3 octave eq . and keep those speakers behind the screen in a baffle wall at middle height of the screen . and do them as x5 using five screen wide, no nothing do with front wide . 70mm todd-ao SDDS 8 five screen , that is what i mean . I'm ex projectionist UCI cinemas and warner bros .
if i was testing those speakers i know what classic Dolby Stereo 70mm to test them with . I can recall how a movie sounded like and felt like in THX 32 years ago and certainly even Sensurround , earthquake '75 aged 8 . scary sub bass .
