    What a plethora of music references from the Beatles, they were so talented. Oh yeah, the drawing and painting where great too. You are so talented and funny to boot. Getting outside will be nice too. You all must have a ton of long winding roads in Montana

    So many puns. 😂 Enjoy your demos quite a lot. What are your favorite soft brushes for watercolor? Squirrel? Hybrid? Synthetic? Do you frequently reach for a good ol' round, pointed long round, flat, filbert, or utilize brushes that are more of a speciality shape? Saunders Waterford is my favorite paper, and slightly above being a tie with Arches. I can't wait to try a sheet of Millford. I, too, rather enjoy peas, (as long as they're not weird, frozen peas. *shudder*)
    Blessings! 🎨

    • @brianashmorestudio
      @brianashmorestudio  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Barbra! Thanks so much! Hmmm... my favorite brushes tend to be rounds and usually sable. However, I've really enjoyed using the Escoda synthetics, like the Versatil, lately. They seem to hold a good amount of paint and have such great point and snap. I am trying to use more flats, lately, too... just to try and keep myself from noodling away at details too much, especially in the beginning stages of a painting. I've never tried Millford but am really enjoying Saunders Waterford (that I just started using, last year). Like you said, not too different than Arches but I find that washes tend to be more crisp around the edges, if that makes any sense. 👍

    • @B1ackDahlia767
      @B1ackDahlia767 5 лет назад

      @@brianashmorestudio thanks for the reply! I have been in love with my Escoda Reserva travel set, as I think I'd mentioned previously due to your review video assisting my decision. Same here, usually rounds and trying to use flats more. I'd say I use my riggers/liners a whole lot as well. I'm actually more of a draftsman & have always completed larger, complex pieces mostly in graphites. With so much obsession concerning control, precision, and detailed, tight lines, (also a professionally trained tattoo artist,) I desperately wanted to loosen up & started to learn watercolor a little less than a year ago! I didn't expect to fall in love with it like this! 🎨😍 I'm having a hard time deciding between obtaining some Saunders Waterford 200 lb., or a few Escoda Ultimo brushes with my last commission. Currently, I love my Silver Brush Black Velvet hybrid squirrels...Tough decisions, aah!! You'd suggest the Versatil over the Perla? (Why are the Perla so much more pricey, do you think? Is it the white toray? I'm not sure I recalled or spelled that correctly.) Which was it again supposedly for oils, Prado? I expect to dive back into oils and acrylic soon. Take care. Keep it up, and best to you!
      Ah, yes, edges, makes sense & I concur. Saunders Waterford can be a little more warpy sometimes, but I love it.

    • @brianashmorestudio
      @brianashmorestudio  5 лет назад +1

      To be honest, I'm not sure why I'd prefer the Versatil over the Perla. They are very similar in handling and paint retention. I think you are right...part of it is the price. I also think that part of it might be psychological. When I first started out, I tried several white synthetic brushes and they were all garbage. They wouldn't hold a point and tended to unload far too much paint when you touched them to the paper. That's part of why the Perla surprised me so much. However, I think there's just a bit of mental bias, with me, towards the Perla because of my past experience with white brushes. I think I just feel better holding a brush that looks like natural sable. Weird, I know. I also hear you about loosening up. Watercolor is so much fun but hard to master in this way. Have you heard of Dan Marshall? He is a great watercolor artist that was an accomplished and respected tattoo artist before switching to painting with watercolor. Take care.
