I remember when tonic of all things was absolutely busted. It was just a straight up permanent heal that got refreshed whenever you used your health flask. Hold two tonics with a maxed out health flask and get so many heals that you don’t exactly need to think about when and where to use them.
Stilt Village was a massive barrier, back in the day. I never played this update, but I did see a similar version of it when I started playing in the Brutal update (0.4). In those days, both Stilt Village and the Graveyard were about twice as big in size as they are today, which of course meant fighting way more enemies in areas that were already difficult. On top of that, the 0.4 Stilt Village had Pirate Captains, Cleavers, and the old version of the Weaver Worms (the red ones), which had instantaneous attacks and zero recovery time between attacks. You’d walk up to one, you’d see the wind-up animation for about two frames, and then you’d get hit. Two more frames, hit. Two more frames, hit. And they spawned in packs all throughout the second half of the map, so you’d be chased by 2-4 at a time. If you were able to be the Fog Fjord, you were truly good at Dead Cells.
Stilt Village used to be so different. Like in the video, it was a ton of oddly-shaped small houses, instead of the two giant houses we have today. I'd like to see the old style return in the form of another level, seeing as most biomes try to have a unique general shape. ps: Speaking of new levels, have the devs ever said anything about if there will be a PQ alt level?
I believe challenge rifts were much more common back in the day. If you think about it, you could spend time exploring the biome and find challenge rifts, thus fighting more enemies and be more skilled at combat. Otherwise, you could speedrun through the levels and refine your movement skills to get to the timed doors. You were not actively punished for attempting challenge rifts, that was just another way to get additional loot. I honestly miss the time doors, I was on the speedrun tactic because the items it gave were so powerful. Yeah finding a closed time door was bad and lots of people just realized it was the strongest tactic and they would reset if they didn't get to the time door. But I think that was a cool concept that still exists today, even though it's kinda different and not really explored as much.
The best difference here is the challenge rift. I don’t really like that it is timed, but I like that it is a no hit gauntlet challenge. In general I wish all challenge rifts weren’t simply all platform areas.
I honestly think the original version's presentation is better than the current (specifically with the collector). I also think the weapon upgrades are interesting. It would probably be too overpowered for today, but was an interesting idea back then.
Old school ice bow was broken because of utility +damage%reduction. I remember in og dead cells always hitting the damage reduction cap which I think was like 35%
This may seem like not too big of a deal, but as a french player i notice the game looked a lot more like the old Flash Game from Motion Twin, like this really has a vibe of Horde !
One difference that doesn't get talked about is that the tone used to be darker. There were still plenty of jokes, but they were darker too. It's all still there, but it exists alongside things like mushroom boi and panchaku.
Hey, you finally got to see the OG challenge rift that I told you about. Yeah, those things were impossible. Nobody could ever beat them. Genuinely, I think I only saw it happen a single time ever, because they were _that_ hard.
in my opinion the permanent weapon upgrade should have been a think still but from different npc up to the max of 15% so 3 perma upgrades 5% each and it think each shop shoud have kept 1 amulet
I have to ask, is this game popular? Because the amount of rare trophy’s you can get is insane. Only 0,25% of players defeated “the collector”? It’s even lower for flawless bosses
You spoiled kids these days with your Baseball Bat bonk builds, back in MY day we were walking 30 miles uphill with nothing but a set of Twin Daggers, and no Face Flask/Vengeance or Custom Mode in SIGHT!!
From update 0.0 to Update 35, we sure have come a long way since blue baby zombies
aren't the blue zombies the rats nowadays?
Only legends know dead cells was originally supposed to be a free browser game with different character and gameplay
A free tower defense game called horde zero (there's a special head in update 3.5 if you kill HOTK with a turret)
Or anyone who watched the video on YT about the originality of Dead Cells 🤣🤣
@@unappealingpig8592watching the video makes you a legend. Both are correct
I'm glad we got the game that we have now
last thing we are missing is air juggle combat

I play this versión and was really hard, i remember. Please make a series playing every patch of dead cells.
Love your content and how passionate you are about this game man, I still haven't found a roguelite I like more

Would love a boss guide on boss rush alternative bosses
In my opinion, the old hud looked better with it's gold outline and stuff. Not saying the new one looks bad or anything.
I love videos like this and want them for lots of Early Access games. I remember looking for one for Hades and being surprised there wasn't one

good old days when the enemies in graveyard with the hooks were the most threatening thing you could go up against in a run

Dude the discounts on the shop they should bring it back
Ngl, the item pages were so much better back then
That was so cool and entertaining to watch ! Hopefully more episodes on it
Cool idea for a vid. Im interested for more of this.
Oh man, this makes me wanna look at how dead cells is today cause I actually only know of this version, lol. But there's just way too many games.

who remembers conjunctivious was the last boss of the game and you would get killed if you killed the boss regardless
Crazy i just got it on gamepass and havent played since maybe 2019 and had got a sword that shot down stars and i felt the game was 100 times easier
Will there be a new DLC for Dead Cells ?
Someone should make this changes as a mod
How to get 3bc even though i have beat the 2bc?
This baby was HARD
9:14 I wish they kept that door
How to unlock head selection on mobile?
the head selection came with the clean cut update, which isn't on mobile yet

Lots of players give up before 4BC so I'm not surprised.
Love this idea
