    I understand that there's a pandemic going on, and it's dangerous for everyone to be outside, but man it must be freaking great to go to Disney today. Smaller crowds (smaller in general) and shorter lines it must be amazing to just go into a ride without having to wait for 2hrs for what's basically a 5minute thrill. lol

      A cast member spotted a small crack on the supports, and if they kept it a A mode (which means it moves), it would worsen and would probably fall down down and break the attraction so they put it in B mode (which means not moving) so they can keep guest safe.

    I remember going on this for the first time when I was 10. A couple years before this, I was talking to this kid at school and I had never been to Disney World before and he was telling me what it was like. He said something about a ride where you go through Mount Everest super fast and see a yeti and go backwards. At the time I thought he was making it up to sound cool and I was just like “yeah right”. But then when we went to Animal Kingdom a few years later, while we were in line for Everest I realized WAIT HOLY CRUD THIS IS THE BIG SCARY RIDE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, IT’S REAL AND I’M ABOUT TO BE ON IT. I tried warning my family because they didn’t know, but they were convinced that I was either believing something a kid made up or confusing this ride for a different one. I literally tried to climb out of the seat when they put the lap bar down. At the end of the ride all they had to say was “……we didn’t know.” Ok then lol.
    I’ve been on this again since then and I love it now so it all turned out fine:)

      Everyone has to wear mask when visiting Walt Disney World. No exception. Disney won't allow you to enter the park without proper mask. It's strictly enforced. There are a lot of social distancing markers located throughout the parks and queue of every ride. Every person we encountered was standing 6 ft apart. There are tons hand sanitizer dispensing machines located throughout the park including before getting on the ride and exiting the ride. We were all wearing masks and keeping our distance.

      @@MMcCoy-yh4ho the concrete base of the yeti cracked less than a year after the coaster was build. He is no longer able to move like intended and instead he is still and they flash the lights to represent a movement. Due to the construction of the mountain and the way the coaster was build with one thing on top of the next they have not been able to fix the concrete base. They would have to remove a huge portion from the mountain and the track from that section. Google a video of him from the first year. He would move and swip at the coaster car as it went by. It was really amazing animatronics.

    • @tny1757
      @tny1757 4 года назад +4

      @@MMcCoy-yh4ho The Yeti is fine, it works fine, the foundation beneath him is not. It cracked and if the Yeti was to keep operating as normal, it would cause severe damage. So the problem isn't that the Yeti doesn't work, it's that he works too well.
      So why don't they fix it? Well the ride is designed in 3 parts, the Track, The Mountain, and the Yeti. To get to the Yeti to fix the foundation, they'd need to take the mountain apart. It's a lengthy and expensive fix, but according to Imagineer, Joe Rohde, he will fix the Yeti some day.
      So they shut off the animatronic, put in a Strobe Light and fan, and labeled it B Mode. Most fans call him "Disco Yeti" because of it.
