I love my Smart Wings, which I have connected via Homey. They are on a daily schedule to open / close and the wife loves them too.

I have the indoor matter smart wings shades. They’re awesome. Will get these once I finish the backyard.

I use the Apple notes app to store pictures of all my QR codes. Especially useful for light switches where the QR code gets covered up by the switch plate. You can then open the note on one device, like an iPad, and scan the QR code with another device like your phone if you need to re-add a device to your system. Low tech but it works.

Definitely a great way to save codes. You could also use apps like HomePass or Controller for HomeKit, which is what I do, but Notes app works great too!

This video did help. My back porch is very similar to your brother’s so I will be purchasing and installing some as well.

I know you went with the 1% and that direct sunlight is really difficult to have anything other than complete blockage, but I was still surprised at how much sunlight came it. The samples seem critical for not just the color but seeing how much light makes it through the shades.
And… blasphemy! How can a brother of the biggest Apple HomeKit RUclips channel use Google Home!? He must be a younger brother… 😀

Yes, ordering samples is very important. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to purchase shades. It's been nice to experience both 1% and 5% in person. I was surprised at how well you can still see out from the inside with the 1%. And even with my 5% shades, they make all the difference in the world when that direct sunlight is beaming through the porch. I use them almost every day to provide some much needed shade.
And yes, younger brother 😂. He actually has HomeKit also, but he and his family use Google Home the most since they have a bunch of Nest cameras.
