If you look at the world cup final, SA was vulnerable to the chip and catch over the defensive line but England didn't exploit it because they wasn't flat enough.
@@WibbleRugby Yes they do block chancers but if your flat they don't know who is going to kick which makes them stop and think. Do it twice and they will drop off. And Faf has a tendency to strays offside as you can see in one of your clips, 9:25. In that final England fail to vary their attack which allowed the opposition to settle. I have the Lions to win 3- 0 Great video btw, cheers
@@JohnSmith-vy4lh thanks mate. I agree England did not vary their strategy enough. But even if we do sit flat, that won't stop their adjusting defenders out wide. They'll often happily give you space in the middle of the field. Line integrity being key there, but the second you go past 2 passes their adjusters shoot up and hurt you. Getting past that is gonna be key.
I have always thougt the SA players are trained to suffocate their opponents, but after seing the roles of some guys including Lukanyo Am, i now know that they are also the most intelligent rugby players there is, with this i will watching a whole different game than most, thank you Sir great work indeed.

Really insightful analysis. Some of the best available. Well done. Have you found any exploitable patterns in PSDT and Faf's defense. It seems to me that they are wildcards with the sole purpose of stopping the move i.e no pattern
Great video but it largely depends on whether the Boks defensive sytem has stagnated or whether it has also evolved. I guess only the tests will show that. Rugby is a very simple game and it starts up front. Can they physically match them for 80 minutes?
Sadly, this was before the South A frican (not a typo, yes South A frican) game. Lions cross kick was continuously snuffed out. They weren't prepared for how physical the SA players were
Scotland (with Toonie running the attack) have been pretty good in the last 18 months at holding their own against a slightly stronger pack. Notably the two matches against France and the win in Twickenham where smart kicking and pragmatic patience let them squeeze out wins.
@@WibbleRugby Yes, it does give us a heads-up what to expect. With Nienaber such a tactician and access to all Townsends counters in the past, it is going to be interesting to see with what the Boks comes up.
Really interesting video as always. My only criticism is the introductions to each section, I think they're unnecessarily long. Other than that some quality work. Thanks
I'll cut them down a little next time. Feel making things a lil snappier maybe the key going forward. Just in general. Genuinely appreciate the feedback bro. Thank you.

"The Americans fight for a free world, the English mostly for honour and glory and medals, the French and Canadians decide too late that they have to participate. I disagree as he was made Tour captain. No way he's made that if Gatland doesn't intend to start him. But AWJ is coming back so he may be removed from that role.
@@WibbleRugby he was fit enough to be on the bench, but Gatland felt that POM and SOB were the flankers best prepared for the game. If he thinks that Price is in better form than Murray then I would not be surprised if Price starts.
@@magnuspeacock5857 well I disagree. But everyone has their opinion. Murray is a proven Lions starter. Knows the Bok defence, was made Captain. And in the case of Warburton, he was shy of match fitness and it made sense he was on the bench to give him some minutes. He got injured in the Babas game and hadn't played since. Yes he is. Gats has gone with form which is unexpected and with AWJ coming back. The leadership of Murray can be missed. Lawes at 6 is to combat the lineout. He's pretty rapid though Lawes. So still feel he'll fill that role.
Yah that's probably their plan, play a lot loose forwards on the far wide channels, kick some average high balls close to touchline in final quarter of the field like the all blacks did in world Cup first game, Aerial skills of Malimpi, De klerk and kolbe will be tested but We can forgive Deklerk😅. I want to know if Rassie and Jacques are cooking up "The Move 2.0", speaking of set piece attacks...
Knowing them, of course they are
There are a lot of moving parts in these counters. If the BIL cant dominate up front, it might not come off ...
