@@ceryseira - Right on. I was 17 when I started college, which meant my mother had to legally sign for the loans. Even though it would automatically be transferred to me upon graduation, I had no idea what taking out a loan would entail; I knew nothing about the available payment plans or accruing interest. Still, I'm glad I "only" gathered $25k in loan debt from a private school, as opposed to these poor kids now with six figures of hopelessness following them for their entire lives.
Kids simply don't know what their actions now will do ten years in the future; no one really does. It doesn't help that schools don't really teach fiscal responsibility or critical thinking anymore. Tattoos are no different. What's edgy or popular now will be massive embarrassment later on (tramp stamps, anyone?).

I find 25 to be ridiculous for a tattoo age. Even 21 for tattoos and a drinking age is just idiotic to me. You can literally get married and go to war and drive a car all before the age of 18 In the U.S.A. (with parental consent). Three things that can literally effect your life, for the rest of your life, way more than a tattoo, and in some cases end your life in a few moments (war, abusive spouses, a single slippery road car accident, etc.) We literally have people who can carry a gun and go to war who can't toast champagne at their own wedding. I find it ridiculous to think they wouldn't be able to get their child's name or a personal image to remind them of their family tattooed on their body before they ship out overseas.

Not to sound harsh, but I mean some of these artists might even still be taking "stupid tattoos" if they were not in the field themselves. It is not the age, it varies on experience and the person- like one of them kinda said. I mean when you get in to the field of work you will most likely be working for 20-40+ years, yea of course it might seem that you "no longer change and you are trapped" but it is not the case imo. Like doctors for example, I know a plenty, my family knows plenty. Most of them are experts in their own field- just like these artists are in theirs. But doctors(in general) don't know jackshit about nuclear engineering for e.g. but tattoo artists (in general) don't seem to know biology and human developement that much.

i think the last guy really had the absolute best way of thinking about it. i’m also of the opinion that dumb tattoos can be waited on but there’s some that you just want commemorated. for example, there’s a tradition in my family that women in the family are represented by hummingbirds, hummingbirds always fly to our windows after women die in our family, and i would love to have that tattooed on me. and i know it’s something i’ll still appreciate when i’m older. i think the tattoos just depend on the circumstance and situation for younger people.

It's mentioned more in other videos that new tattoo artists will take anyone that walks in the shop, and that's what we need to protect 13 or 16y/o kids from. I'm 16 and I'm looking at getting a tattoo. I read this book last year that through some snowballing effect has completely changed my life. This book means so much to me and has opened up a gateway for me to understand that I wasn't okay and needed help. This book and the people I met through it has been helping me get through some serious serious family shit. I'm talking to multiple family members who are heavily tattooed and even a couple of their buddies who are tattoo artists. I'm not planning on anything big, something on the smaller side that I can look at and know that something as simple as a book a picked up because I was bored can help me so heavily. I completely understand why people won't do anything so permanent on somebody so young and I respect that, but I'm going to do this right and I don't want to have to wait for something I know will be meaningful to me for a really long time.

They all have a special meaning and i don't think this meaning will just go away when you are 30. there was a reason to get the tattoo in first place. I got a pair of butterflies to symbolize hope and new beginnings (which is also symbollicaly linked with my mental health yk), I got an album cover of lil peep tatted (a dove with the words "CryBaby") and an album cover of another artist which is simply a black rose. Maybe in a couple of years I won't listen to those artists much anymore but in the end the tattoos still look good and it reminds me of some special times. I think getting tattoos from 16 on is a great thing. And I'll definitely get more tattoos by the end of the year. So I fully agree with you

He worked for 3 mounths to get half of the money, and I got him the other half, but I was sure that he is going to a good shop, and will get some quality work on him. Now his 23 and is still happy with his first tattoo. But I guess that having a sh*t tone of tattoos myself was part of the reason why I got him into doing it in that fashion.

I spent months finding the perfect design and my parents made sure it was a good artist and a good shop. So glad that some parents are involved in that decision to make sure you don’t get something you’ll regret. 🖤

@@karinatraore8235 so because you made poor decisions in life, you think the government should intervene and stop everyone at that age from getting a tattoo? How many 18 year olds drive recklessly? Maybe we should raise the legal driving age to 25 as well.

I got my first 3 tattoos at 19. They're all covered now. They're absolutely right, as those tattoos were all covered by my sleeves. The random tattoo ideas get in the way when wanting to get bigger pieces.

Yeah, glad they, slash you ,mentioned that. I was going to get one around 18 but decided to wait 5 years. Id easily still rock the design now but my god would it have fucked up my entire sleeve from its size and placement

me at 16 and 17: *getting memorial tattoos for my grandmothers*
tattoo artists: you can't make good choices until you're 25
me: welp if this is what I regret at 95, then I'll be happy with my life

This! At 18 I got a piece to represent memories with my grandpa that passed three years before. There’s basically no way I’ll hate this tattoo when I’m old and wrinkly. My next one I’ll probably be about 19-20 when I get it and it’ll be a memorial piece for my grandma.

I mean sure, but you don't have pictures? If you had pics then why wouldn't you wait til 18?

You won’t be able to read the tattoos at 95. They’ll just look like mold
