unfortunately that is not something we do. we have guys send shocks in from canada all the time to get done but we wont just give out our valve stacks as those have been years in R&D. im sorry but you are more than welcome to send them in and Bruce will take care of them
I got kicked off my sled on c4 right by camp 4 last night. Have all the hygear springs in for my weight but no rebound to accommodate it. Called southside this am and they were super helpful. They sold me used xcr shocks valved for my weight and said they will ship today. Very happy with customer service from them and the information on your vids.
that is what i like to hear! They are a great group of guys! You will be a much happier camper with the shocks done properly! Keep me posted on how you like them.
How many clickers are on the velocities? Also do you like the velocities better than the old clickers. Also why not offer the XCR shocks on this sled and the Assault
Hi Jesse. Thanks for the great videos. Have a question going to respring and revalve my 21 Matryx launch edition. Planned on going polaris heavy duty rear torsion springs then Hy Gear dual rate on the other 3. Was wondering why you Bruce chose to go with Polaris single rate springs on ski shocks. Thinking it's for a more positive feel/feedback when corner. I go 260lbs and ride aggressive so I'm looking for best bang for the buck.
hey! if your 260 I would recommend going with the trap springs that came out this year along with a revalve for sure. I have never run the dual rate ski springs. I would like to try them this year I just never tried them which is why I dont have any info and run the single rate (which does work well)
Another great video. Thanks for putting these out. I can vouch for how much of a difference valved shocks make. Had them done on my pro-s and the difference was night and day. Crazy how good that thing works on the trail. I’ll definitely be looking into getting my ‘23 XCR shocks done. It’d be nice if you did a video on Bruce’s set up on his XCR.
@@JESSEJAMES322 Yep, rewatched a bunch of those last night. Looks like HD torsion springs (I have a ‘23 so it should have those) with a revalve is the ticket. Mine still seems a little rigid in the small chatter so I backed off the low speed a couple clicks and will see what it does this weekend.
kind of had a theory that the reason the stock VR1 was not as good in the corners was due to the needle valves in the front shocks. I feel like it allows the outside shock to dive a little causing a slight tippy unsettled feel. Night and day between my wife's VR1 and my XCR. Did you eliminate the needle valves or just stiffen them up?
100 Pound front springs. The VR1's come with 80 pound springs and they're lucky to even hold the sled up statically. yes we valve the fronst too but springs make a huge difference
Planning to have my shocks rebuilt and revalved in the off season over the summer on my boost. Would it pay to go up to the 100lb front spring’s already in their stock form? If so do you keep the 1/2” preload on them as per your previous videos? Thanks
Hi Jess, I have 23 xcr650 I have not been able to ride it for we don't have very much snow at all in northern Michigan I do have a trip planned for the u p riding, but should I even consider revolving my shocks, I do ride hard but not as hardcore is you guys do, is it worth the cost for my riding style for what sled I have already mind you there is no place around where I'm at to do this I would most like to send it to you guys to have this done maybe not this winter but maybe over the summer and what would be the average cost to revalve all of my shocks, sorry for the lengthy question and and Hope understand what I'm asking😁 and oh yeah does doing all this to the sled void warranties out.
hey so I would ride It first and see how you like It. if there are things you dont like we can try to tune them Into your liking but if we cant do that then a revalve is in your future. right now its $95 per shock for a revalve. this does not void warranty!
We did a ton of testing on the assault last year. Need a lot of revalving. If you look at my videos from this past season you will see a lot of discussion about the assaults!
a stock set of XCR shocks? These are getting then those. Stock XCR's shocks also need help. we went throiugh that last year with my 22 XCR (23's are the same spec minus springs in the rear)
I’ve said it before I’ll say it again why Polaris put a boost in anything but the XCR is ridiculous. VR1 has Smaller cheaper shocks, smaller springs a 2.86 pitch track with less lugs on the get that added power to hookup. At this point we all know the 9r is going to be in the next XCR which is preferable but would have been cool to have both options.
now i do agree to an extent, the XCR suspension still needs work also. That stock valving is just as bad as the valving in these. I would like this have 2.52 pitch track but as far as suspension if it was XCR trim it needs help also. Plus side on an XCR is it comes with HD springs and 100 pound front springs so the starting pointy is better!
I agree with you guys but I think it’s a simple answer. As far as aggressive riders you are correct. Most riders don’t want a stiffer riding sled. Most people suck. Think about how many clowns are in this sport and just have to have that big power for ego and will never use it until they’re on the biggest of straight runs or smooth lake. It’s a shame but that’s what it is.
Exactly. My buddy bought the boost assault and on the trails that thing is a big useless turd. I can eat lunch while I wait at the intersection with my 850 XCR. Having big power on the top end doesn’t mean anything if you can’t turn it. Will he blow by me on a lake. Sure. But that isn’t where the thrill comes in it’s going into corners fast and controlled not having a sled push so hard you have to slow down to 20-25 mph to turn it.
@@jethrobodine011 they make a boost Assault? I didn’t know. What track length? As nice as they are I still think a full trail rig out turns them anyway
So your telling me the suspension on my 20k snowmobile is no good and I have to do this? Is this a solution to a problem that doesn't exist for most people? Are you setting this sled up for a specific purpose? What problems are we trying to solve? Is everyone having these problems? Is this a must do upgrade? And why would Polaris get it so wrong and set them up this way? I can't believe the engineers at Polaris are this far off from how "Bruce" would set it up. How can there be that big of a difference in opinion? I'm sorry but this video left out a ton of things that should be explained.
Just like I said on your last comment they are building sleds for the masses. unfortuantely in the past they have tried to valve sleds stiffer and have stiffer springs and 99% of the peopel complain they are too rigid. so now we get them and they are on the softer side so people are happy. everyone thinks they are a aggresive rider until they get on a sled set up for an aggresive rider and then they hate it. so what we do is personalize everyones sled for their wants and needs
@@JESSEJAMES322 This video makes is sound like we all have to do this because the stock suspension will not work at all. If there was information in another video that I was supposed to see I didn't. Lots of missing information here. We don't watch all your video's so maybe that's the confusion.
for me no It doesnt work. for most people yes itll be fine. but again we are all about building your suspension to fit your needs. that is what we do. so this us again showing that we can do anything you want to your suspension. keep watching videos and we try and improve and test all different set ups for all different riders and weights and style
@@JESSEJAMES322 I rode race motorcycles and am very familiar with suspension set up. Its very specific to the application, rider, and how hard they ride. They see a video like this and then take their machine in to get the suspension done not having any idea what problem their trying to overcome. All they know is someone told them their suspension sucks so off they go and waste money on it. I think it very important to explain the difference between a guy who races and the average guy who just trail rides. Do a blindfold test with average riders and see if they can tell the difference between the two machines, I bet most cant?
So Polaris is essentially selling us sleds that don't perform correctly? If the difference is that great then we're getting bogus expensive shock packages that suck the way it sounds. Not sure what to make of that. Doesn't make me happy for the 20k I spent! That I do know! Making them for a wide range of riders doesn't hold up either if they're that bad.
there is many ways to look at this. do we think they should be doing a better job of getting these sleds in the ballpark? yes absolutely. But years past when they release sleds with proper valving then 90% of the people say theyre too stiff so thats why we get these watered down shocks
@@JESSEJAMES322 Agreed. People have an overinflated image of how they actually ride. “The best” isn’t the same thing as proper performance for what you actually do. I just think Polaris should market much more emphatic on what does what.
Part of the problem is that the shocks aren’t coming in to spec in the first place. Having shocks with low oil and charged at 100psi or less when they’re supposed to be 200psi is a problem. Most people don’t even know what they have to baseline from so you have to rebuild them just to know what you have then go from there.
