One of the most beautiful performances I've ever heard of a deceivingly difficult piece, for both soloist and choir. Bravo, young choral scholar. Thank you.
Very good, and I'll probably be using him as a model for when I do it at the forthcoming 9-lessons-&-carols service at Waltham Abbey in a couple of months time. I've done it once before at an Epiphany service, I think in 2008, and it went pretty well. The only thing to watch out for was the entry at the end where it briefly goes syncopated.
No soloist can compare to when Gerald Finley sang this on the TV special "Carols for Christmas" with Aled Jones that featured art from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
First of all he probably is a professional, since he's singing in as a soloist in a professional choir. Also, he is actually very good. This is REAL singing - not like present day aled jones. His technique is solid. His sound is rich. The ENd.
Hey, he sang pretty damn well by my standards. He did stare directly into the camera the entire time, though. That couldn't have helped with his nerves.
Oh guys, come on, the guy is trying his best here. He's no professional. Cut him some slack man. I didnt think he was great. but he's good and solid. Dear fellow, you're good. Did well. take heart and enjoy. Nice voice
the Cantor is good but still not quite there. The voice is not so pure. He also could have looked a little neater... he looks rather untidy and scruffy for some reason. The tempo of the song felt just a tad but too fast, but I loved it still. Great performance.
Not as good as the fat guy from 2006. Totally running out of steam at the last note, but hey he sings better than me, so good on him for trying. He looks terrified at the end: 2.23 - 2.30 lol

Beautiful, my favourite version
2:00 - end made me tear up
He is a professional, believe me. This is not an easy solo to sing for
several reasons.
Nope he wasn't when this was recorded. He was a student.
Ashley Riches - a star in the making. Fabulous.
Absolutely! Just look at his website to see what he's done since: www.ashleyriches.com/

Nope, he was a student when this was recorded. Also it's an academic chapel choir, not a professional choir.
This is just heaven.
More beautiful it is not possible...
love the costumes
They are not costumes. They are called cassocks and surplices.

Good ... but too fast!

Not nearly as good looking as the guy in 2006...
