Your videos always make me so happy. I hope you check out her Choke EP and the I Disagree album!! she really embraces the harsher electronic and metal sounds lingering in the background of this album
Ooo new Poppy reactor 🙏🏼 hi! Well done! Looking forward to more of your diving in. I Disagree is indeed heavy, but imho it is the real transitional album from pop music into something very different. Genre-bending at its best! Her EP EAT (NXT Soundtrack) is the "full blown" metal project, and it melts my brain every time. I love all of her albums and EPs from the beginning with Bubblebath. I'm not a pop music person, and I could tell even then how different and interesting she is. I'm so proud of how far she's come, both as an artist, and in her personal life, as much as is made public. 💖
So glad to have ya, thank you for your comment! I'm super excited to get the I Disagree video out hopefully later this week and dive deeper into her stuff, her whole image is enamoring me a ton rn. Much love!
I'm looking forward to your i disagree reaction. Tbh all of her projects are really solid. The changes of dynamics in her songs are something else plus she's got a really good voice.
Yes so dope! Haven't watched yet but love your videos. So excited you got to Poppy. Excited to see you work though her stuff!!!! Choke EP and I Disagree are essentials.
This album isn't for everyone. Bc it's transitional. If you like pop stuff try things that came out before this was released. If you like heavier/darker music try stuff that came out afterwards.
you should have tried listening to her debut album poppy.computer first as am i a girl is sort of a transitional album from her debut (more electropop/j-pop influence) to i disagree (metal/pop rock/industrial). im hoping you'll enjoy those albums more, i must admit as a huge poppy fan, am i a girl is my least fave project from her and the entire album cycle felt underwhelming, most likely due to how eager she was to move on to her next project and really dive in to darker sound influences on her CHOKE EP.
I can definitely see that, and the Poppy stan in the discord put me on game to her whole discog really, I just decided with this one idk it naturally drew me in, I can’t waitttt to hear what she sounds like more focused in. Much love appreciate this 🙏🙌
Cool review, I enjoyed it a lot. 🙂 My favorite tracks are "Play destroy" and "X" - I love the clash of styles; in general and on this songs. As a relatively new BABYMETAL fan I'm used to this now but Poppy and Grimes were the first artists I've listened to doing this with Metal infusion (it's easy to see here that Poppy likes BM btw).
you totally called it, girls in bikinis' big numbers came from tiktok haha shes actualy never even performed it live even though its her "most popular song"
I hate to sound like a cliche fan, but I don’t think you really understood that album. It’s not a pop album. It‘s the ANTI-Pop album. It’s starts catchy and pop wise absolutely perfect and gives almost feminist girl boss vibes, however the album slowly lets this poppy façade crumble, the lyrics are ruthless, coldly capitalistic and the strong adjectives and phrases POPPY uses are typically male (best seen on Chic Chick), the album suggests that such a vocabulary and mentality is not making women independent in any way, in fact by copying those male patterns they are making their own behaviors dependent on them. You said that the songs in the middle of the album get more and more boring, but have you considered that to be the intention? The soulless nature of this kind of pop music gets more and more transparent, that’s why the sounds sound like that. The interludes are also absolutely essential, they finally break the organic and „real“ image that a pop star tries to keep up, which is of course intensified by Time is Up. The last three songs make the pop star‘s mind visible to us. The identity crisis, the realization that boy and girl might be nothing more than shallow brands without an actual connection to reality, being fed up with the perfect life and the urge to abuse one’s power and privilege and destroy everything. And finally the decay of the mind portrayed in X. It is a mess, but that’s what it’s supposed to be. The urges for life and for death are contradicting each other in her mind, making it a paradox. The album does not have a Happy End, destroyed by drugs (ecstasy) and her own confused mind, she finally gives in to the chaos and gives up what’s left of her own identity replacing it with with shallow phrases of nostalgia. Although the ending could also be interpreted as her embracing the chaos and thus becoming it’s master now actively inflicting it upon the world instead of being consumed by it. Either way it’s a complex (though her most linear) album that in my personal opinion you didn’t do justice by your presented thoughts.
If you dont like the starkness of genres of X idk if you’ll like I Disagree. I love the progression between this, I Disagree, and then her most recent Flux. I Disagree is an iconic album though honestly.

I hope you check her "I Disagree" album, best album by poppy in my opinion :D
I have checked! And will be working on the video within the week 🤩
Please please react to her newest (and best) album Flux! It has a completely different vibe as it’s inspired by 90s and 2000s alternative rock.
you totally called it, girls in bikinis' big numbers came from tiktok haha shes actualy never even performed it live even though its her "most popular song"
YESS NOW POPPY! I love her music! Def check out her Choke + Eat EP's and I Disagree (more)!
