It just hit me that you can kind of hear the same tune as The Hounds in this, just with different instruments. Considering that The Hounds is about how Wily used fear and lies to take over a city that's already going to hell, and this may well be the beginning of the end for his rule (a very long end, and possibly one for the city as a whole, but and end nonetheless), that's fucking brilliant.
This song is so visual, you can see Joe and the Robot driving neck to neck, before finally standing off, you can see Joe try to fight this machine, see him ready to go down fighting, and him defeating it with the help of light.
Damn. I always imagined him walking down a road and realizing he's being watched and stopping then calling out the robot and after a long fight he kills the robot with it's own weapon and meets dr light
Okay, okay. It didn't happen over night, but the protomen are now my favorite band. And by a mile. Had to give it a few listens, but I can't stop loving these guys. amazing. Act 3 please.

Personally, it was something of the inverse for me. I saw Protoman as a manifestation of Light's ego, desire for peace and rage at Wily. As such, I figured Protoman was the young Light. Then when he dies, Megaman is built in a fit of sorrow, fear and self-sacrifice, the same sacrifice world Joe was raised in. If Joe was Protoman, I wouldn't particularly fit with 'The Stand (Man or Machine)', because that song really emphasizes how Protoman doesn't believe in humanity, while Mega/Joe still does.
@@johnwegrzynek9342 Yes, they have released 3 singles this far that sopposedly will be in the album. This City Made Us, Hold Back the Night and The Fight (their latest)

Ehh... Sounds cool except Protoman and Megaman are the only robots with free will and actual personalities. The assassin was part of the first line of robots who are just mindless workers.
Yeah, but it's also implied the Sniper's been around for YEARS, and it clearly needs to be able to learn to some extent to be as long-lived as it is considering it was able to subdue an entire city alone no matter who it singled out. It's also stated to have preferences in its weaponry, and that the main reason it failed is because it wanted to make things personal and use its knife to kill Joe, which let him use its own blaster to break the grapple.
I imagine that Protoman has more than a bit of Joe in him, to be completely fair. I read somewhere that the Sniper Joes were named so by Dr. Wily after (spoiler) the real Joe died, just so Wily could laugh at Dr. Light's mortified face. And then Dr. Light took that Joe's designs and built Protoman with them, which is confirmed in Protomen canon (though it's the inverse in Megaman canon). So, in a way, Protoman can be interpreted as Joe.
Amazing how they can take something like the plot of Megaman and turn into into a rock opera that makes you feel more emotions and paints a picture better than movies you’ll see in theatres.
Wow. In most videos, you get people bitching that they don't want to hear intellectuals analyze songs and their philosophic meaning. Your comment is refreshing, thank you. The Protomen are a group that has made a series of songs as a spinoff storyline involving Dr. Light and Dr. Wily. All within a rock-opera of sorts. Acts 1 and 2 are done, Act 3 is coming soon-ish.
Dr. Wily was merely a tool. The true evil here is the primordial entity known only as The Barber, who has existed since the dawn of mankind and wants nothing more than for man to turn against his beard and take a razor to his chin. Every time a man shaves, The Barber wins. Dr. Light knew what he was doing. It's why he, as the only man with a beard, was the only one in the city who wasn't under Wily's control... @steakwithsalt I actually think the Joe character and the Light character sound different. I don't want to start this whole big thing, but i believe the singer does a good job of showing the difference between two characters. either way, I love this band and can't wait for the next cd.
They ignorantly dismissed it because of what they thought it sounded like, rather than considering it for what it is. It's also out of context on its own, as it's part of a much larger rock opera.
Whoa whoa whoa. Wait. If the robot was saying the words Joe spoke at the end of the song, it can mean two things: one, it was mocking him for thinking those things, or an even more frightening thing: it was evolving, becoming like Joe, thinking like him, recognizing him as a worthy foe, and incorporating his likeness into itself: it had become a "Sniper Joe."
People like to complain that the humans at the end of Act I wouldn't have stood a chance against Wily's robots, or that attacking them would be silly. They oughta take lessons from Joe.
I just linked this to someone. They said it was "shit cheesy 80's hair metal"? What.The.Fuck. I don't believe this..... Grrr.... This is one of the best songs on the album, and it's supposed to sound 80's. In a good way

Anyone else notice that if the woman on the album cover stood up straight she'd be like 7 feet tall?
She'd certainly be taller than Light. I guess it's the heels
@steakwithsalt I actually think the Joe character and the Light character sound different. I don't want to start this whole big thing, but i believe the singer does a good job of showing the difference between two characters. either way, I love this band and can't wait for the next cd.
I find it way easier to work/study listening to the Protomen. Hell, I'm doing it right now. Power through the code.
Whose shadow is that on top of the building to the right?
+Comical Probably the robot that killed Emily.
+PatsPCs Joe's already there on his motorcycle, though. Plus the shadow is a pretty imposing figure; I'd say it's most likely the robot as well.
probably Wily's assassin, considering its standing over a monitor projecting Wily's face
This sounds like it just came out of an 80's movie.
So 80s bruh
so was mega man
lol
They ignorantly dismissed it because of what they thought it sounded like, rather than considering it for what it is. It's also out of context on its own, as it's part of a much larger rock opera.
This song is f@#king amazing!
Algobump!
The only use of talkbox better than California Love
People like to complain that the humans at the end of Act I wouldn't have stood a chance against Wily's robots, or that attacking them would be silly. They oughta take lessons from Joe.
I just linked this to someone. They said it was "shit cheesy 80's hair metal"? What.The.Fuck. I don't believe this..... Grrr.... This is one of the best songs on the album, and it's supposed to sound 80's. In a good way
Can't buy directly from the website? That sucks bro. Love these guys, maybe when and if they get bigger they'll head overseas? Never know.
@TheDominicmacabre That's right, I forgot about that! Awesome moment. Anyway I actually agree with you that Joe and Light sound different, but a friend of mine still didn't even realize Joe existed.
This song rocks. The ultimate cry of independence.
The link for the lyrics is dead
Just like this city
in the end of the song with the robot saying shes been dead for years now, i wonder if it is still a little hung up over emily, or does it realize that the city is dead
goo ga da doo ga da doo!!!! Love it!
Pencil drumming is what gets me.
@PNhooligan
I came when I heard this part. Then read along the lyrics. Then came again harder.
I love how people just are listening to this only because of Video Game High School, Actually it saddens me, because they are just now hearing it. AND SHUT UP ABOUT VGHS ALREADY.
Don't be bitter about HOW they discovered this. Be glad they found it somehow in the first place. Traffic for their music has to start somewhere.
GreenTengu97
Really I just hate that there just saying stuff like "Video Game High School!" and only that.
GamersBlogX Ok
GreenTengu97 I found this on some random playlist
I found the protomen through the megas
@steakwithsalt And, light was the one to cut the machine's throat, an take the cranium casing to be a helmet for joe. Just saying. He kinda did take vengance.
It's still a fucking pain sifting through here for some actual comments instead of fucking drones.
I came here from VGHS episode four
Joe is a badass and Lights only friend.
