I grew up playing this game. I think I was about 13 years old when it came out in 1998. So much nostalgia. Watching your videos makes me want to play it nowadays!
PVP Aside, this list is amazing even for the regular game. I've only see two tier lists on RUclips where people know what they are talking about and this is one of them.
Bard/dancer speed hacks work on all but small maps where they'll be sniped though. Mime works with that and monk's earth slash though monk's revive has no height so good luck. Dragoon jump works under 40CT speed and ignore elevation though I do admit anyone who can't equip a thief cap for speed +2 becomes a liability.
I know you've improved on your commentary since this video. I would be interested to watch a re-do of this, with updates dependent on anything you've learned since this upload.
Definitely in the works once all the Job Focus series are completed. After having played a lot more PvP against other players in different formats I do feel the need to do a new ranking as some Jobs have definitely performed better than others. Thanks for checking out the content and commenting Resistakill!
Love your videos. Stumbled upon them really, but your insight and analysis of the classes is pretty spot on. Can’t wait for more content. Please say this with me though “E-I-DOUGH” 🙏 be well!
Howdy CGA, yes we have a ranking for Unique characters with a focus on PvP for you here: ruclips.net/video/bHLm0I84BAI/видео.html Enjoy, and thanks for stopping by the channel! 👋
agreed, I would love to see FFT take off like esports as well, with some excellent commentators calling out the play by play. Where are the tournament or multiplayer videos on youtube? What i am finding is old, grainy footage.
The goal of the channel is to replace that grainy footage with some modern recording and commentary in a live tournament setting, and I am happy to hear we share the same vision! Hopefully in 2022 I can get three other local players to do a small tournament as a dry run and gauge interest.
Hey...so, I definitely like the idea of this channel, but it leads me to ask, where is the FFT PVP community and do you guys like stream matches/tournaments anything of that nature?
Besides the ffhackticks forum and Tactics League Discord channel, I am unaware of any larger community efforts. That said, I would love to host an actual live tournament with some friends as a proof of concept. Wrangling three homies as volunteers has been a little more difficult than I imagined. 😅 When we do get our act together I will absolutely be recording the matches, streaming is TBD, and definitely edited highlight reels.
That's not a bad way to gauge if your Jump will land before the opponent moves. I am not quite sure of the exact formula, but I can say for certain that the higher your Speed rating the less time you spend 'in the air' and the sooner your Jump will land.
@@TacticsLive Darn. I've been asked several times to cover the multiplayer missions, and the only way has been through a Vita and PSP recording independently. Have you done anything on that, by chance? (I cover Tactics Ogre mostly, but love this too)
I believe J7Jase has featured them on his channel and are worth checking out. 👍 I have not gotten into the co-op multiplayer missions, yet! I would like to do a series where I prepare Ramza for a Rendezvous mission challenge with just him (both players control the same exact Ramza). So, no, I haven't touched Rendezvous yet, but definitely interested!
When I first played the game, I hated the mime. As an adult I LOVE the mime. So many things you can do and BECAUSE they are situational make for a very interesting battle. Mime should be top tier but I can understand why people have trouble using them.
I agree. I've developed some multi-mime strategies that can flat out wipe the map faster than anything else. Heavily depends on who they are mimicking of course... :D
I had fun messing with mimes and dancers. 3 dancers, 2 mimes, results in 9 dances per round essentially. Since they are charge abilities, sometimes they chain and you get 18 activations. If it's the damage dance, sometimes the enemies didn't even get a chance to move before they died
I honestly think that Onion Knight should have ranked far lower. Even if you put in all the time and dedication to building one with the best possible gear for it (all of the Onion gear), it takes literally forever to master all of the other 21 jobs to make Onion do anything. For those who don't know, the ability to deal damage on an Onion Knight comes from mastering all of the other jobs. Say you bring an Onion Knight to battle and you've mastered 6 jobs with it, whereas the opponent's OK has 13 jobs mastered. Your opponent's will likely be able to one shot yours without the same being done in return, not only because it's dead, but also because it not only can't deal as much in return, but also just won't. I'm not sure on the exact calculations, but please just avoid this class, unless you want a total grind fest to master all 22 jobs for this class.
For Bard, you don't use him for healing. You use him for 1 of 4 things: 1. Funneling Magic Attack to a team of mages(Magickal Refrain). The more MA you have, the more damage your mages will deal. Pretty simple. 2. Funneling MP to your team of mages (Seraph Song). If your mages don't run out of MP, they are virtually unstoppable and will nuke everything because they have the mana to do it. 3. Funneling Speed to your team of hyper-mobile Ninjas/Thieves and other classes that move far, fast and numerous times (Rousing Melody). Pretty simple here too. The more actions your team can take, the easier it is for them to kill everything. 4. Making everyone else on the team go before the enemy (Finale). Most effective way to do this? Equip every speed item you can find in the game and use a Time Mage (or the Bard itself with Time Magic) to Haste the Bard. Free wins every time when your enemy can't make moves because your team is just too fast.
Good video but why do you pause during sentences? I'm glad you don't fill in pauses during words with fillers (like, umm, ect) but the pauses are very distracting. All in all the video is informative.
I got you covered in this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/6SoL-i6v3bw/видео.html @TacticsLeague is your meeting place for finding a partner for Rendezvous Co-op or Melee PVP matches. The Tactics League discord is open to all, and the moderator YoshnJa is happy to help newcomers get started and even has a PVP patched version with a lot of balance changes that make the competitive aspect much more enjoyable. Hope to see you there soon! 👋
A handful of us over on the Tactics League discord are playing multiplayer matches online using emulators and cloud VPN service. Check out the links in the description and tutorial videos on the channel. Welcome and hope to see you around for a tactics game!
Good points about the Archer's Ability set. Unfortunately Guns have flat damage and rely on Faith for the magic variants. Archers can scale their damage with PA and gain range with height. With high enough Speed they can produce consistent damage over the course of a battle.
I honestly wish more folks did play, and I think it's a blast! Consider you can make your own PvP roster with your friends and battle it out with your own meta. It really opens up how the game can be played and gets others involved. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for stopping by!
@@cazimim3375 I suppose I could make a guide on how to host a tournament, but I think growing the community would be a good first step. Getting an interesting roster to play with so it would be fun for spectators to watch would be my first priority. Then it's up to gathering participants. Oh, and PSPs to play on ideally!
An eSports focus on such a good game is just going to result in disappointment. That's one of the reasons the RTS genre sucks these days, they're all chasing that eSports dream (that and they're failing to make good content editors).
Thanks for stopping by and watching the content! I agree that the RTS genre in general needs a revival, and that there isn't a lot of focus from content creators to that end. This may be due to the RTS genre being relatively niche compared to FPS, MOBAs, and other games with constant action. Whether this title can be a popular eSports event or not depends on your expectations. Would it draw the viewership of larger, established MOBA's? Probably not. A first-time four-person tournament, however, could be the start of something larger. I don't think it's been done in a more modern setting with livestreaming and game capture being comparatively easier than when the game was new. That gives me hope that engaging a wider audience is possible and would be worth the effort!

Hope it grow as much as it deserves. So does the game and the community.

Greatest FFT content ever imo.
Thank you brother !
Thanks Kevin, I love this game and I'm happy you enjoy the content! 🙏
A silent protector. A watchful guardian. A...Dark Knight!
Haha, is he though? 😂 With 20 kills necessary to unlock, and assuming this is a Batman reference, would Bruce Wayne really be up for the Job?

They have…. GUNS
I don’t really remember but can’t you always hit jump if you use it if their CT or green bar is below 50? I remember always hitting my jump

Unfortunately, no. There is a mobile port if you want to play through the storyline, otherwise the multiplayer features are on the PSP version only. 😢
