    Hi Alive great video for Stage 1 remap. On stage 1 remaps please can you do the additional video asap you mentioned you would do showing/describing the differences between ECU/EMU units and software of TD5 10p versus 15p plus what the physical differences are with the two engines? As one of our best tuners of defenders showing this information/expertise reinforces why defender owners first port of call for upgrades should be Alive - a thought springs to mind- when the going get tough the Alive defenders get going! - I am an Alive Customer just about to venture back out again on the greenlanes of the UK with a smoother more powerful Alive tuned TD5 10p defender - keep up the great work guys and thank you

      Thanks for your comment Lawrence!
      We do indeed plan to make a video, explaining the differences between the two engines and showing what to look for.
      Coming soon… 👍

      @@alivetuningltd Thanks, I'll drop a mail soon. Snag for me is I'm across the pond in South Africa, so finding folks with finer knowledge on the Td5 are few and far between. But I'll check out the site and start with a mail.

    Interesting video with great results. What do you think causes that slight blip in the power curves? Would you feel that driving it?

    Do you guys do basic garage work? I'm trying to get my Disco 2 running again, but there's a persistent oil leak that I just cant find. Definitely toward the front of the block, not on the left side, I've had the manifold off to change the FPR. Looks like it's on the right side near the front.
    What would a couple of hours be, with you? Thanks.

      Hi Jim and thanks for your question.
      We eat, sleep and breathe Td5 here at Alive and if there’s a problem, we’ll find it!
      It’s not always straightforward and can sometimes take some time to diagnose, but in your case, I’d expect we’ll work out what’s going on pretty quickly!
      Please give us a call on 01507 309109 to discuss your issues and maybe we can give you what you need over the phone? 👍

    Would love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons of a M57 vs Td5. They are basically contemporaries in many ways, but there are many people now considering ditching their Td5 for the M57.
    Thoughts?

      @alivetuningltd  10 месяцев назад +6

      The M57 is a superior engine to the Td5, in many ways. Smoothness, reliability, power potential and efficiency to name but a few.
      The Td5 is still a good engine, with an awesome exhaust note and surprising power potential, but it's technology is a generation behind the M57, with Td5 using a PD type injection system and the M57 being the more modern common rail injection system, which is a significant difference.
      We've contemplated having a common rail Td5 cylinder head made, and then run the engine using either VAG, or Mercedes management. A great plan, that we're in no doubt we could execute brilliantly, but primarily its just not at all viable!
      We've pushed the Td5 engine to its limits, and that was a prohibitively expensive excercise, BUT it's still very much a Td5! Although fitted in the L322, the M57 isn't (strictly speaking) a Land Rover engine and for the LR purists, its not a 'good' option.
      M57 has Insurance implications with it being a non-standard engine, and the argument of it being potentially too powerful for the chassis to handle safely, are the only two cons we can think of.
