Almost 30 years since its release, "Timebomb" still sounds fresh and cool.

Because 99% of modern music is trash by comparison
as a punk from the seventies, this was a real treasure to find when it first came out! i was feeding my baby in the middle of the night while i was watching MuchMusic back in the nineties, and this little treasure came on. my kids heard this on my burb mobile's cassette deck for a few years ;) Rancid forever , baby!

I bought Out Come the Wolves based on seeing this song on tv (film clip) in the mid 90s. Im not really that much into punk, but its one of the best albums Ive ever bought.
I saw them in concert when I was 18 yrs old, in a small crowded venue in Seattle. I'm 45 now. 😂

Ditched school once back in the day and went to my friends house who played in a garage band, I was just getting into the scene and didn’t know who Tim was I just learned about rancid but didn’t know he was the lead singer, anyways i go into his garage to start warming up my vocals and my friend introduced me to this guy Tim Armstrong who was eating a bowl of Froot Loops I had no idea who he was and thought it was odd my friend introduced him by his full name

Yep, and both had that two guitar + bass front line as well. Unless you’ve got exceptional musicians, a trio just never cuts it in my book.
Rancid is way too good to call a Clash tribute band, but their singer/songwriter idolizes Joe Strummer and it comes through in a lot of their music. Their musical arc is similar too: they made their name with some high-quality punk albums in quick succession, and then the music took all kinds of weird turns and incorporated all different genres together.
He even mentions Strummer by name in the opening song on the first album they released after Strummer's death: "I'm dancing now to a whole different drummer, but I'll keep listening to the great Joe Strummer, 'cause through music, you can live forever."
