I hunted when I could for 15 years then realized (due to the wind) there were times when 'I couldn't hunt' and stayed away from my best locations. Even so, I lost out to the shifting wind on many instances, or too heavy a human scent. We didn't have any cameras back then, and went by studying sign plus sighting tips from the resident farmers. You're planning was top notch.
I think he was near to 325-345 lbs live weight given the 240lb field dressed weight… I might have left him along 2-3 year mire so his genetics could spread more within the local herd, but several other local buck looked pretty good too in the pictures you shared. Congrats on a great buck.
i believe that andre was an offspring of the previous beamer buck. both stood very tall and had a lot of mass. think beamer just had a bit longer to grow out those non typical tines
A couple buck like that were shot here in Northern VT recently, hanging out the back of the bed, one weighed in at 243 and the other weighed in at 248 both were 8 pointers and truly Giants, And both rite here in my home town!
I took a massive 9 pointer here in my home state of Michigan last October, that dressed out at 245 lbs. as well. I had no history with the deer and when i shot him i thought i was taking a 5-6 1/2 year old deer, but when i checked the teeth it just didnt make sense. I sent out the incisors for aging and he was only 3 1/2 years old. A complete freak of nature. I will probably shoot one that big of bodied again. Just a tremendous animal!.....Congrats on an amazing animal! I enjoy everything you guys put out. Good luck this season!
Congrats! love the footage and the story. That property has been good to you the last couple of years. I have a little 10 acre honey hole which has produced for me the last few years. Shot my two biggest bucks last season on it. I have learned a lot watching Deer society videos. I used to hunt every chance I got and now I only go when the conditions are perfect. The big 11 I shot last year field dressed at 190lbs. I can't even imagine walking up on one that dressed out at 245! I only hunted that 10 acres 4 times last year and it paid off big time. Couldn't have done it without the intel of the cameras. Congratulations and keep the vids coming. Good luck out there!
Thanks for the kind words! We are glad you are having success and picking up a strategy or two from our videos. Keep up the good work and good luck this season!
Got a 300+ October 24, 2020 on public land. And coincidentally I was using an extinguisher. It was the grunt sequence, full hour before last shooting light
Wow brother... totally awesome.. he was a giant.. I know that size of deer.. I was blessed once to take one that big.. beauty. Congrats JJ.. Dennis in saskatchewan
I shot a white tail 184 points that weighed 215 lbs dressed no head hide or hooves just body one week later my son shot a white tail that weighed 205 lbs dressed no head hide or hooves just body our deep freeze was full that winter I wish I could send you a picture congratulations on your huge deer he's a beast
@@TheDeerSocietyfor someone that don't have camera footage to review the shot, without an exit hole probably not alot of blood to go on. Congratulations on a beautiful deer!
Hey I’m a 12 year old kid I short my first deer at 10 years old we put a camera out and week got a huge 10-12 point and around 200 lbs he is a big boy! Nice video and when did you shoot your first buck?! Live this channel 🎉😊 nice video already 7k congratulations 🎊
Seemed like he stopped and presented the shot when the wind swirled and he caught a whiff of something unfamiliar. Aye, at least it worked out for you and you got your hands on Andre. Congrats on a sweet buck!
Yes, you are likely correct. My wind shifted big time and was blowing directly at him as he approached. Not ideal.. luckily my scent control strategies/practices held him off just long enough for a shot. PhaZe is my go to. - JJ
Congratulations! Very nice buck! My dad and I have been weighing deer with a digital scale with and without the guts. For Does and small bucks after field dressed are typically about 30ish pounds more to figure in live weight. For larger bucks that have been field dressed, you can figure upward around 40 lb. (That's not including taking out the heart and lungs) so you would have to figure a little more weight if you took out the heart and lungs.
Have seen a number of these big buck videos. How does the arrow NOT pass through? Granted, I have never shot one this size, but all my shots pass through. Is bow tuned real lite???
How do you guys get your Tactacam reveal photos so clear? Mine are very low quality photos and I can’t figure out why. Should I switch to video only? Or possibly move my camera closer?
We set the cameras to Pic+Vid and choose the highest quality selections. Then we save the HQ files from the SD card after we pul them out of the camera.
Is there any maintenance involved with the tub of water besides refilling it if it doesnt rain a lot? I would assume a lot of debris would get in there and algae growth would be a problem. As somebody who needs to add a water source to his feeding area; im very curious.
Yes, they need to be kept clean to some extent. Also, you need to add a stick or structure for critters to get out if they jump in. Otherwise that can be a bad situation in the long term.. haha
The Soil Starter helps balance the PH so plants can take in more nutrients for germination and growth. Then we feed the plants with our two liquid foliar fertilizers. It’s a 3 step system designed for maximum growth.
I wrote a reply and sure enough it was a rage. I just watched it over and over you hit it in the v you might have barely touched the scapula going in. Please quit lying to these guys why do you sponsor guys push a head that has lost more deer than all heads combined. You sponsor guys create more wounded deer and lost dreams than anything in the sport of hunting. Greed is a sin and you know good and well it's a junky head. I am going to look and I bet any video of a deer kill you have a floppy arrow in the wind. This crap is sickening
So you are JJ! I’m sitting here going crazy because you remind me of someone in television! Great story thus far! I don’t hunt but I would love to know how to at least have the knowledge to raise, dispatch and prepare rabbits. Hunting squirrels would be a good thing to know! Killing off pests like coyote and fox . . (Would make nice coats)! Is there anywhere I can go and learn to be a kick butt huntress? ❤
Olmsted county has some brutes. Underrated county. My buddy owns land right outside of Rochester and he’s got a wall of 150 inch or plus bucks. But everyone only talks about Winona County and buffalo.
I shot a giant bick like that years ago. 8.5 year old 300# 150" main frame 8 with 11 scorable points. The back straps were near 4' long and the inner loins were like typical deer back straps. Worse eating deer ive ever had.
PhaZe Field Foam by Illusion Systems. It encapsulates the odor (sweat/dander) after you walk to your stand. Think of it like a direct-to-skin "bath" you can take once you get setup in the tree. Awesome stuff!

What a great shot on that big beautiful buck. Congratulations on that superb buck.
I love it when a plan comes together, and all of your efforts pay off with a BIG buck down! Well done.....

Really great footage as well. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a giant. Thanks for giving me a lot of tips. I shot my first deer with a compound bow last year when I was 12.
Congrats on your first deer! Good luck this season.

Blows me away that at 25-30yds you don’t get a pass through with a mechanical (a.k.a. Flapper). #1 reason why fixed blades are king 👑
