I hunted when I could for 15 years then realized (due to the wind) there were times when 'I couldn't hunt' and stayed away from my best locations. Even so, I lost out to the shifting wind on many instances, or too heavy a human scent. We didn't have any cameras back then, and went by studying sign plus sighting tips from the resident farmers. You're planning was top notch.

I think he was near to 325-345 lbs live weight given the 240lb field dressed weight… I might have left him along 2-3 year mire so his genetics could spread more within the local herd, but several other local buck looked pretty good too in the pictures you shared. Congrats on a great buck.

Congrats! love the footage and the story. That property has been good to you the last couple of years. I have a little 10 acre honey hole which has produced for me the last few years. Shot my two biggest bucks last season on it. I have learned a lot watching Deer society videos. I used to hunt every chance I got and now I only go when the conditions are perfect. The big 11 I shot last year field dressed at 190lbs. I can't even imagine walking up on one that dressed out at 245! I only hunted that 10 acres 4 times last year and it paid off big time. Couldn't have done it without the intel of the cameras. Congratulations and keep the vids coming. Good luck out there!

I took a massive 9 pointer here in my home state of Michigan last October, that dressed out at 245 lbs. as well. I had no history with the deer and when i shot him i thought i was taking a 5-6 1/2 year old deer, but when i checked the teeth it just didnt make sense. I sent out the incisors for aging and he was only 3 1/2 years old. A complete freak of nature. I will probably shoot one that big of bodied again. Just a tremendous animal!.....Congrats on an amazing animal! I enjoy everything you guys put out. Good luck this season!

Congratulations! Very nice buck! My dad and I have been weighing deer with a digital scale with and without the guts. For Does and small bucks after field dressed are typically about 30ish pounds more to figure in live weight. For larger bucks that have been field dressed, you can figure upward around 40 lb. (That's not including taking out the heart and lungs) so you would have to figure a little more weight if you took out the heart and lungs.
