the castanets sound from Adam is MIND BLOWING !!!! Living in Spain I know you know that sound Samantha !!! A Sea Shanty were songs that were sung by crews on ships in the 16th through 19th century to keep the sailors on a rhythm while doing their repetitive chores while at sea.
This was Adam Chance's idea. He had to convince the other guys to do this and it became their most popular of the quarantine edition songs. They released an extended edition of this song this year that they now perform in the live show.
How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. And Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They do this medley of songs in their live concerts.
Isn't this just the most wonderfully crafted song. So much fun and energy. Sea Shanty's are songs sailors used to sing while they worked. Tim's bass holding up the foundation was crazy and all the solos were the usual Home Free perfection along with their signature beautiful harmonies. Adam went next level with his beat boxing/vocal percussion. The wave sounds and castanets. He's always pushing the boundaries and adding new elements. So impressive that they recorded their parts separately. If someone offered me $100 to sit still through this, I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it. Their team and Darren Rust their producer are phenomenal. The guys are always giving credit to them which is wonderful. Great reaction, again.
This is a great selection of sea shanties and I love the way Adam Rupp brings in the sounds of the wind and the sea. Their quarantine tracks are all so creative. The songs are historical, from the age of sailing ships when sailors needed to work to a rhythm together. Adam Chance pushed the others to produce this and there are some live concert performances of it which are great.
The Home Free Sea Shanty Dance has become a phenomenon on TikTok this year. Austin and Adam Rupp posted on Instagram their attempt to perform the dance.
At first I was like sea shanty? What? Chance (first singer) is a fan of shanties on TikTok so he brought the idea to the boys and they weren’t sure but I’m glad they did this. Adam was doing castanets in the last song and I thought he was mimicking the sound of waves hitting the boat? So cool. I only knew one song. Tim was in the basement the whole time with his low notes. He was actually standing in a boat so he didn’t move much. Hahaha. Austin and Tim went full pirate mode for sure. Loved your reaction Sam. 🥰
Samantha, on board of this old sailing ships, the sailors had to pull the sails up or down, so the invented songs wit a certain rithme. Thus they were able to work simultaniously and had a bit pof fun. As a lot of sailer came from England, Scotland or Irland, naturally they preferred celtic tunes. I hope I could help. Elmar from Germany
As many times as I have watched this video, this is the first time I’ve seen the sailing ship artwork behind Adam! One of those details that keep you coming back. Good reaction, Samantha! Thank you! We (USA) were in a resurgence of COVID early in 2021 so the guys were still recording from home.
Great reaction! I've had the privilege of seeing two of Home Free's shows this summer, & they did the Sea Shanty Medley both times, it's even more amazing when they do it live!! 🎶❤️🎶
Of the three main current a capella groups I am certainly more of a VoicePlay fan. However, this is one of my favorites from Home Free. Tim Foust was cranking out some absolutely silly low notes throughout. An absolute pleasure to listen to.
I think the sound Adam was making, the one you were talking about, was the sound of waves. Which makes it even more awesome. Love watching your videos!
Potpourri is French, meaning "rotten pot" (referring to a stew of mixed meats). It was borrowed into both Spanish and English. In English, it usually means a mix of spices and flower petals that you put in a little cloth bag in your closet to perfume your clothes or else dump into hot water to freshen a room. But it can also mean the same thing you're describing: a mix of songs. When I was a teenager, the local radio station had a program called "Polka Potpourri." Language is interesting.
The Driver Is a great song just like you .Home Free is the Best and Timeless I listen to them ever day it is a great way to start the day. The world LOVES ya. GOD BLESS YOU ans happy 4th of July. In the USA we celebrate it for freedom. For us that served I for 9 years in US army it is a very special day.
This was one of the earlier videos during covid and not long after sea shantys became popular on TicTok and Chance was a fan of those and convinced the rest to do one them selves so that explains the video style.
I was surprised it took you this long to see it. BUT it was worth it, wasn't it? Yeah, it was. LOL. This is a GREAT video that they did. Great Post. And Adams Castanets was an AMAZING addition. I had nevern heard that before, but it fit right into the song. (IMO) Great Post, Samantha.
Always very much enjoy your reactions! Thanks. This video is fun and excellent music - as always. HF is amazingly good. Nice daily reminder Do you have lots of those?
The ones without fancy costumes dressed as seamen. Not everyone is a pirate! I think "shanty" would have the same root word as "chanter" in French, which means "to sing".

Actually he said Austin brought sea shanties popularity to the guys attention and Chance took it from there.

Not real C, not virus, quarantine doesn't mean sick. But BEWARE of the injections. Inform yourselves. Great group.

Yep, just another excuse for Austin and Tim to wear their pirate suits... 🤣
Yes you are correct, Pirates. It was so good

Language is interesting.
They always have so much fun with their videos. Of course they sound amazing.
Sea Shanties are old folk songs. I didn’t know all of them growing up but in elementary school I know we learned What do you do With a Drunken sailor.

You said Sea Shanty correctly. You English is very good!! My Spanish, on the other hand, isn't!!
Did you hear the castanets that Adam, the beatboxer did with his mouth?
