Just picked the game up on PS5 last night! Absolutely loving my time with the game so far. Great review Fioth!! The music and atmosphere are top notch!! Combat is fun with a lot of cool weapons & armor to find.. exploring the world is a great vibe.. can't wait to play more of it.
played the game in the May update before this the first time, and i loved it. Now its even more nozzle top, cant wait to see what they added as well. Im actually reminded a bit of Shadow of the Colossus for the times you're not in combat in some of the larger areas.
@@Mohgenstein The game is in a lot better condition now if you like the Dark Souls sort of thing. You do need to put in time, as the only clues in the levels tend to be to follow the red lights you see now and then and work out how to reach them. The look and sound of the game is great and that OST is amazing.

After recently finishing the Elden ring dlc it’s been a great game to move over too next. The world is very unique to explore and the art design is fantastic. The sense of scale and depth of the world is immense. Exploring is great fun too, it can feels like your abusing the traversal mechanics (jumping and climbing to where it doesn’t look like you can go initially as you can pretty much go anywhere all over the environment) only to find some loot hidden away is an obscure corner! Combat and loot has been a lot of fun too and I’m liking the build options and upgrading and modding armour and weapons with gems to add or switch out abilities, buffs etc, lots of choice so far. Playing on series s with a 1tb upgrade so performance is smooth. Had 1 bug so far after 4 hours. After beating the first boss and getting to the upgrade android, pressing attack didn’t work and it made the no stamina noise. Quick reload fixed it. Overall it feels like playing a game from the golden age of 360 gaming. Where there was lots of choice for more arty games I’d say. Fantastic. 😃
Looking forward to trying this again on consoles. Followed this game up until the steam release. Rough start with frame rate, controls, UI. A few months later with a some patches tried it although there were some improvements, still needed work. Console version is the way to go sounds like. I loved the atmosphere and score, armor sets, weapons, enemies, etc are great. $35 seems a fair price
Been waiting for this to release on ps5, found out it released 5 minutes ago. Immediately purchased for $35, and I have to say bravo on the price point. There are so many titles coming this month that I want to play, but I'll have to spend $210 altogether just to experience them. I wish they'd go back to the good old days of $50 games. Sure that's still a bit expensive, but more reasonable, than justifying spending a 3rd of your paycheck to enjoy. So, to the developers I say thank you! This game has had my interest since it's first announcement. I'm so glad they stuck with it, and were able to port over to consoles. I'm currently playing another game, but once I finish it's next up. Good review man, thanks for the info letting me know it runs great on ps5!
I have had this on my PS5 wishlist for what seems like forever now. As long as this been fixed it will be well worth the wait. Gonna downlaod it now so I can start it after work.
It was well-worth the wait. Played the entire game over the span of two streams, got only two crashes after long sessions and very stable performance. The game is in a very good state.

I played and finished the game in February this year. Since the devs keep making major gameplay updates with new mechanics, locations and enemies I'll probably revisit it at some point. To me, this is a walking/exploration simulator with a focus on atmosphere first, gameplay second. I have never seen such a dream-like game world. I'm a huge From Software fan with 1000s of hours in the souls games, but not even they have such an outstanding level-design when it comes to the panorama and the sheer scope of size. I just can't believe a small-budget indie game had a world that puts AAA studios to shame when it comes to vivid imagery, size, OST, sound effects and sheer creativity. At one point I found an out of bounds area by jumping down platforms that had no death marker. I kept jumping down for like an eternity and found a whole city hidden behind walls Attack on Titan style that shouldn't ever be visible to the player, and it was detailed too! I was literally falling down for over an entire minute until I finally reached the bottom area. There have been many popular indie games in the past decade, but Bleak Faith is the first indie game that went full-AAA in ambition and actually got away with it. The devs must have been working 14 hours per day to make this possible. Absolutely crazy.

I can't decide on whether to get this on PC or PS5. I tend to prefer consoles for large RPG type of games, but I've heard the controls for KBM are really good, and I assume it runs smoother on a higher-end PC. Thoughts?
We worked a lot on making the controller 100% viable. It's perfectly usable atm, and I've done the majority of my runs on Controller. I wouldn't say MnK is a draw now, but you can push the fidelity to insane levels if you have a competent rig.
This game is so crunchy and feels somewhat incomplete on PC but that just adds to the feeling of isolation and hell for me. I really enjoy this game even for it's short coming. The atmosphere is really unmatched. It creates such a unique emotional feeling

It is vastly refined compared to when the game came out, that's for sure. It isn't as clean as, let's say, Thymesia, but it does its own thing. That's important in an industry filled with copycats.
Anyone knows if multiplayer is still a thing being planned on this game? I remember trying it on a beta branch but didn't do much since i didn't have the time to play.

Game looks kind of 2-generation ago and janky, but the world is very enticing. I bought Lords of the Fallen on day 1 and loved it despite the technical issues and jank because it had that Souls feel and the world was great. Bleak Faith looks like it might scratch that same itch.
There is gameplay in there, both normal encounters, boss encounters and traversal. I will be streaming it tonight if you wanna watch a ton of it. During Reviews, I avoid exposing too much so I don't spoil it for anyone.

However, this game is barely playable in its current state. I gave it a chance after your review and refunded it after less than 2 hours. Whatever atmosphere and lore is waiting, it's buried beneath impossibly janky controls and unacceptable character movement and animations.
Right now, none of what you are describing is true. The game plays just fine and looks clean AF, especially on PC. I appreciate the vote of confidence, but sincerely cannot imagine where you drew your conclusions from. I finished it four times during the past week, two of which were Live with over a total of 2500 people watching. They all had the best to say.
The game was, perhaps, one of the worst "souls like" games I've ever played. There was no real controller support, moving the joystick less than 1cm would cause your character to rapidly accelerate and be uncontrollable. The menus were completely illegible and made zero sense. Frankly, the game was hot garbage and everyone said it at the time. Saying "the game was received well with exception of some criticism for the mechanics" is basically an outright lie. For just how bad the game was on release, you are WAY too positive and frankly I don't think you're being objective. For a game this bad, to change peoples minds, you'd need to show yourself playing the game from the start up to the first boss and note every single improvement along the way.
Did that twice already, Live, so people can see it. I don't need to change anyone's mind. I know there is a mentality towards negativity in the gaming space and whoever enjoys thinking like that can go ahead and knock themselves out. The game had issues but it's great in its current state. If you don't want to experience it, it's totally fine. I have no state in anyone's entertainment.

It has one of the best OST scores in the last ten years. I have listened to it a fair few times now.

It's surely focused on exploration and pathfinding. The world is a honeycomb. You'll love it if searching around for secrets is your kind of thing.

They are considering it still... it caused a lot of issues, and they went the route of refinement. If you ask me, it was the right choice.
