  • Caleb was born in Nebraska and raised by his mother and four brothers in Columbus. They grew up in poverty and were homeschooled. Baseball was a way of life during their upbringing.
In 1993, the family moved to the Pacific Northwest and started a coffee stand, which eventually expanded into a store. At 14, Caleb was working the stand by himself to help make ends meet, and they all lived in the back room, with his mother staying in the office.
At 23, Caleb connected with his girlfriend, Connie, who was 20 years older. They eventually married and lived in a van. They were married for six years, but Connie struggled with severe alcoholism and eventually passed away from cirrhosis of the liver, which drastically changed Caleb's trajectory.
For eight years, Caleb lived on the streets of Seattle. The only reason he received housing was because, during a sweep, he crashed into a tree while moving his things on his bicycle and was severely injured.
For the last few months, Caleb has been housed and is slowly acclimating. He wants to get back to work and live a different life. This is part of his story.
