Yeah only reason I got it is bc of the Japanese aspect. I lived in Japan and would love to move back - I wish it had more objects specific to Japanese culture though.
Honestly, this pack is a must-have for me; CAS and build+buy are top-notch, and I really liked the mountain sports (and that you could have snow sans Seasons!)

Tbh, I actually really like this pack. It's a much better vacation pack than Island Living and is a lot more in depth. It's definitely perfect for my playstyle when I want a vacation and I LOVE the festivals and climbing the mountain!
I have several sims that live in Mt. Komerabi. If you want to play as a really active extreme sports enthusiast, it's an ideal map. Had to make room for a gym and such in town, but big fan of snowy escape.
I still regret buying island living😭I bought it just for mermaids just to find out they basically don't add anything fun to the gameplay. Needless to say, i learned my lesson that day. Snowy escape really is a better vacation pack.
The only reason why I bought this pack was take off shoes feature for realistic gameplay just to find out its bugged and doesnt work most of the time and now its in the BASEGAME 😗👌
It's in the basegame now. Just click on the basegame shoe rack and it works. It can be a bit iffy with what it recognises as outdoors vs indoors, especially with patios, but I don't have issues with it.

If you have a 2 story house, and you have say, an entryway that is 2 stories tall with no floor between, just a roof on it, and no ceiling, it will be considered outside. If your patio has a roof on it, remove the ceiling under it, and it will be considered outside. places like Judith Ward's house, I managed to make all indoors, except her entryway (coincidentally, her entryway totally wasn't my earlier example! haha), and it was because I couldn't figure out how to keep the stairway in the room with no walls around it while still enclosing the entryway under the ceiling. I'm sure it can be done, but not by my dumb@$$! haha

I love Snowy Escape, my biggest problems is the secret activities and places, I still haven't figured them out and I guess since I don't have seasons I feel like sometimes my sims gets too cold or goes home by themselves. Other then that, it's really fun and I also love to play with it more at Christmas time, especially because I don't have seasons which I actually love that I don't, because Sims 4 seasons are annoying.
Oh, but the stories! That's what the sims team always say, the stories you can tell with the pack. I don't know if they can't understand or just can't do it, but they just can't seem to get that we want actual gameplay not for it to just look cool for a "story". Not everyone that plays the game is a youtuber.
I wished there would be more snow details like footprints or different kinds of depths. Also they could have done so much more with the hiking than just following a path in the woods.
For the mountain top, I put down an old school Japanese temple from the gallery that kinda reminded me of the temples and buildings from the Fatal Frame/Project Zero games. 😅
The CaS offering is nice everywhere. Even if you don't go in that world. I agree with your build mode evaluation. When hiking, go in first person view to get the best experience. In first person, things don't get clipped off unless they are VERY close to your Sim. Close like literally touching. If the various life styles, there is one that I despise : Workaholic. If your Sim ever work hard to get a promotion faster more than two days in a row, he WILL get that life style. Once he get it, he'll always want to go back to work after his work day and during his weekends. That make it very disruptive. You do something, and, suddenly, your Sim is at work. Your Sim is sleeping, his energy bar just turned green, and off to work he goes. His hunger bar is red, you have him eat something, and he'll put the food on the table to go to work, maybe to die from starvation as soon as he get back. It's pretty much impossible to get rid of it. The only way to cure your Sim from that life style is to get him to quit his job and not get another one. Keep him jobless for several days until he's cured from his work addiction. I normally disable life styles entirely.
@@JedicatedBeileber Use Shift+Tab to get in and out of first person mode. Then, use Tab to hide the UI elements. Work on desktop and laptop as it just depends on using the keyboard, and all keyboards have the Shift and Tab keys.
I've watched this entire playlist in two days, and after seeing Satch draw on cats/werewolves/horses in CAS i was inspired to make a lounge that in a certain light might look like something completely unintended.
This is definitely one of my favourite worlds. I love to play Asian families and now have the architecture and the settings to engage more. Same with playing in Sulani, I’d cheat it to make worlds residental. Yes it could have been better, as there is always a list of things they “could have added”, but I don’t expect much from sims 4 really to get too disappointed. This pack is a must and I’m glad it exists at least in the form it’s in. At the peak of the mountain I’ve seen really good hints from others as to what to build on top, like springs, cafes or spiritual shrines, etc
I love the Asian representation but strangely a lot of my sims who don't look "Asian" also have names that are more traditionally Asian. Like white skin, red hair and their name is Atsuko Sato, or Dev Advani. It would be jarring in real life too, right? 😂
The very first time I played with a Lifestyle I got one for being a hard worker because she went to work everyday. Eventually she got depressed for working too hard, so I took a day off, then she got a negative moodlet for not going to work. I turned them off forever.
In general pack specific festival notifications are dumb and its annoying you can’t filter them. I get notified about High School events even when I don’t have one teen (or child of any sort) at my home. And I do not care about the events in Henford on Bagley when I am not playing a farmer but there is no way to filter them per household. :( San Myshuno events tend to be the only ones I don’t mind as I could have a geek interested in Geek Con in any household. And the Jokesters and romance festival are pretty universal.
The only thing I don't like about snowy escape is the lifestyles, I send my sim out to work a few times and get the workaholic trait and they start getting frustrated not being at work, I can send them to work for overtime but that doesn't help towards a promotion or pay them. Snowy escape is one of my fav packs that I own and I tend to have my sims start out in the Mt komorebi rather than the normal worlds
The hotpot is glitchy for me. When I try to do a hotpot party, everyone gathers but it rarely actually cooks a hotpot meal, although they still get the moodlet for it. Snowboarding does have more animations, “tricks”, the higher in the skill you get as with most skills and if you reach level 10 you can make a little money off of POV videos. Rewards for reaching the summit are reminiscent moodlets, an accessory, a build item, and social interactions but I will say it’s not as fun if your sim is already lv 10 when going on an excursion, there wasn’t really any challenge and it was too quickly over. You can WooHoo at the top tho, so worth it for me lol. Btw your cat is so cute!!
You forgot to mention the incredibly annoying feature having to lock out all guest if you live there, to avoid Yamachan coming over every single day to bake a fu**ing cake, even if you turn off the visits.
I began playing sims for the simulation... 😊 got to the conclusion that it doesn't make that much fun (had more fun with sims 2) so instead of letting my money rot on my computer... I build 😂

I used to play to play. I learned quickly how boring Sims 4 really is. So I became a builder more than a player. I try to play often, but it always ends the same no matter how much I try to switch it up.
Unpopular opinion but I didn’t like the builds/houses. You can really tell that they were made without consulting Japanese simmers and were weirdly off. The community lots were fine but the homes looked like they only spent two minutes googling what they thought foreigners think Japanese homes look like.
I do actually. I soace it out og course but all my extreme sports sims basically spend a lot of time in Mt Komerabi or live there as do my adventurers.
If it was sims 3 they probably released it along with 2 other different themed world map with it's own unique cas/build items, skills, trait, adventures 😢
I actually really enjoy the Mountain Excursion event. I've played through it multiple times with my Sims. But the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that you can only take 4 Sims with you, and the event is timed (so there isn't much time to rest during he event). But otherwise it's really fun!
I get the out doorsy lifestyle a lot Because I love off the grid game play my sims are outside a lot and my sims have a hard time working at a indoor job and single and lovin
And is a bummer that as with most (pretty much every) DLC for TS4, there isn't as much male type CAS items, and the copious amounts of female content, though is some good stuff with this pack. Yeah, the "target audience" is what it is, but still not much good us guys & those who play with male sims, are left out a bit like we are. Certainly not a "complaint" to be "driven crazy" over, simply wanting more variety. And as with a lot of the DLC's, there's bugger all gameplay wise to do with this one, but what do you expect from EAxis?

the "bow to the shrine" interaction was removed glad there's a modder who brought this back, like IDGAF about other simmers sentiment, especially south korea about the interaction, it's like some simmers could make a stop to any cultural feature that available in the game. they call it as a life simulation? come on.
I adore this pack, so many hidden areas for perfect pictures/build mode is great and cas clothes i used all the tome Kid sims who live there automatically wear uniforms 😊 j became obsessed
It’s the hardest world to play as a bum 😂 cause the only fishing spot is for higher level and you also need to have a climbing skill in order to reach some plants. Especially if you have seasons and start in winter then it’s super hard to survive as homeless 😅
I disagree about the hike being useless. The “insignificant” flower on top is the death flower. Very rare and can be used to give to the grim reaper and revive a dying sim or other reviving things in the game.
Idk if its EA hating men for the lack of CAS, I think it real life men at fault for this and I mean it. Irl, mean have a similar style. And they usually have short hair. Like how many ways there is to style short hair? Mainly men. And even look at red carpets. The Met gala always has a different theme and still most men appear in black tuxedos
This pack literally broke my game. My sim is stuck at the mountain and the game won't load in when I go to click on it. So my save file is just completely destroyed and I can't even play it. 😭
I honestly just bought this one and I absolutely hate it. Its too much of a pain to do the mountain excursion rock climbing social event. I literally can not get through the event with my sims. I love the world its really pretty but I'm disappointed that I can't get through some of the features. I can't get to the ice cave which I really wanted to explore and I even cheated my sim and have it max rock climbing skill and they still couldn't do it without it being incredibly difficult. For me its only useful for the world andbim not sure it was worth the money. I'm glad I grabbed it on sale.
I would bet money they are man haters based on their creations alone. I just bought snowy escape bc it was on sale %60 off . Its the only pack i didn't own of the older packs. And i have to say i like the cas and the build and buy. Great world for my sims to go on vacation. And great world for winter gameplay!
I feel like the build/buy mode is lacking. Its very japandi, which is great for modern japanese builds. But I would also have liked a more traditional line
This is a genuine question because this is only the second video of yours I've watched and in the first two minutes you say something that gives off the impression that you're anti-feminism...are you actually or was the just the phrasing? You're right that CAS is very feminine presenting based, but it's not feminism making it so, it's just the sims team getting stuck in the idea that because more women play the sims that they're predominantly interested in feminine fashion, which isn't the case.
Those are fair ratings, though I probably would’ve given it less for gameplay. I have more interactions with the lifestyles than the skiing etc -technophobe and workaholic sims are particularly annoying. 😂
I really enjoyed the pack for about 5 minutes before getting bored ... it's pretty but boring. I HATE the lifestyles ! If you have a workaholic lifestyle, your sims will spend all weekend totaly stressed out about not being at work 🙄 which is really annoying at the top some careers where you only work 2 or 3 days a week. If you have the outdoor lifestyle, your sim will get super stresses whilst during the 5 minutes it takes them to do homework or a work task they need to do indoors ! I like the idea of lifestyles but they seriously keed to be calibrated better... so like many Sims mecanics from various expansions, I turn it off 🤷♀️
I like how Satch always complains about lack of “traditionally masculine” fashion for men. And here I am putting “female” clothes on my male sims, because I find male sims outfits to be tooo “traditionally masculine” (aside form 1,5 pride shirts) and boring. EA manages to disappoint people of different political views equally. What an achievement 😂
The skiing and snowboarding was broken when I got the pack around when it came out ... I got frustrated never tried again to this day and stop playing with it besides the clothes or build most things which I do really like.

Bow to Shrine option is REMOVED by demand of younger Korean generation simmers due to their personal "trauma" of WWII Japanese Occupation experience. I'll never forgive what Nordoam has done, it's HIS last minute idea trying be the hero. Aside that this game miss the opportunity to put a most entertaining event, The Oiran Dochu. Parade of Floral Courtesan.

And is a bummer that as with most (pretty much every) DLC for TS4, there isn't as much male type CAS items, and the copious amounts of female content, though is some good stuff with this pack. Yeah, the "target audience" is what it is, but still not much good us guys & those who play with male sims, are left out a bit like we are. Certainly not a "complaint" to be "driven crazy" over, simply wanting more variety. And as with a lot of the DLC's, there's bugger all gameplay wise to do with this one, but what do you expect from EAxis?

snowy escape was my first ever pack. fast forward, i own every expansion pack but i still tend to create a game in mt komorebi
the "bow to the shrine" interaction was removed
glad there's a modder who brought this back, like IDGAF about other simmers sentiment, especially south korea about the interaction,
it's like some simmers could make a stop to any cultural feature that available in the game. they call it as a life simulation? come on.
I adore this pack, so many hidden areas for perfect pictures/build mode is great and cas clothes i used all the tome

It’s the hardest world to play as a bum 😂 cause the only fishing spot is for higher level and you also need to have a climbing skill in order to reach some plants. Especially if you have seasons and start in winter then it’s super hard to survive as homeless 😅
I disagree about the hike being useless. The “insignificant” flower on top is the death flower. Very rare and can be used to give to the grim reaper and revive a dying sim or other reviving things in the game.

Idk if its EA hating men for the lack of CAS, I think it real life men at fault for this and I mean it. Irl, mean have a similar style. And they usually have short hair. Like how many ways there is to style short hair? Mainly men. And even look at red carpets. The Met gala always has a different theme and still most men appear in black tuxedos

This pack literally broke my game. My sim is stuck at the mountain and the game won't load in when I go to click on it. So my save file is just completely destroyed and I can't even play it. 😭
I honestly just bought this one and I absolutely hate it. Its too much of a pain to do the mountain excursion rock climbing social event. I literally can not get through the event with my sims. I love the world its really pretty but I'm disappointed that I can't get through some of the features. I can't get to the ice cave which I really wanted to explore and I even cheated my sim and have it max rock climbing skill and they still couldn't do it without it being incredibly difficult. For me its only useful for the world andbim not sure it was worth the money. I'm glad I grabbed it on sale.

I would bet money they are man haters based on their creations alone. I just bought snowy escape bc it was on sale %60 off . Its the only pack i didn't own of the older packs. And i have to say i like the cas and the build and buy. Great world for my sims to go on vacation. And great world for winter gameplay!
I feel like the build/buy mode is lacking. Its very japandi, which is great for modern japanese builds. But I would also have liked a more traditional line

You're right that CAS is very feminine presenting based, but it's not feminism making it so, it's just the sims team getting stuck in the idea that because more women play the sims that they're predominantly interested in feminine fashion, which isn't the case.
I think he is genuinely like that 💀💀💀 also his main female sim just gives me those vibes im sure you know what I mean

Those are fair ratings, though I probably would’ve given it less for gameplay. I have more interactions with the lifestyles than the skiing etc -technophobe and workaholic sims are particularly annoying. 😂

I really enjoyed the pack for about 5 minutes before getting bored ... it's pretty but boring. I HATE the lifestyles ! If you have a workaholic lifestyle, your sims will spend all weekend totaly stressed out about not being at work 🙄 which is really annoying at the top some careers where you only work 2 or 3 days a week. If you have the outdoor lifestyle, your sim will get super stresses whilst during the 5 minutes it takes them to do homework or a work task they need to do indoors ! I like the idea of lifestyles but they seriously keed to be calibrated better... so like many Sims mecanics from various expansions, I turn it off 🤷♀️
I like how Satch always complains about lack of “traditionally masculine” fashion for men.
And here I am putting “female” clothes on my male sims, because I find male sims outfits to be tooo “traditionally masculine” (aside form 1,5 pride shirts) and boring.
EA manages to disappoint people of different political views equally. What an achievement 😂

The skiing and snowboarding was broken when I got the pack around when it came out ... I got frustrated never tried again to this day and stop playing with it besides the clothes or build most things which I do really like.
