these aren't, they're usually one octave in D mixolydian, but with a second thumbhole to play f natural as well :)

well spotted - they share the same type of reed and bore shape, resulting in some similarities in sound. Mine also have scallops on the chanter, inspired by some historical welsh pibgorns and swedish bagpipes.
