I have a R&B/neo soul guitar course up on Patreon, 2 hours of material where we go step-by-step from essential chords, techniques, and how to put it all together into baby-making music. www.patreon.com/simonplaysguitar
I just recently found this genre of music and fell in love with it immediately. My band is heavily inspired by J-Rock/Pop, and some of these riffs/solos sound similar to what we've been experimenting with!
That's some absolutely mindblowing guitar playing, or just playing in general. I would just call it music, basically a mish mash of rb, fingerstyle and jazz. I don't know why it's called neo soul, sounds like fingerstyle guitar to me, whether jazz or otherwise. Brings to mind a mix of Joe Pass and Barry White. The mix is good! And some Funkadelic in the mix as well.
@wilma A genre is just a construct used to categorize and label a subset of music. I don't see why 'fingerstyle' can't be used to simultaneously refer to a guitar technique and a musical genre/style.
@@wilma7612 Right, but that doesn't mean that you can't use the term 'fingerstyle' to label and refer to a specific subset of music or guitar playing style.
Hey Simon, I really like your videos and your playing! could you please make a guitar tutorial for the song Yinmn Blue by Chris Mazuera. I found it in your Spotify playlist :)
I don't think she's underrated I judt think she isn't so well known which is something else. She's playing with aome of the biggest names in music right now.

Mustang 1 is a good fender starter. It has great settings for starters and isn't expensive
