Not saying this comment is bad but British should never be put into writing. Again not a bad comment but 'mucking about' should never be put into writing and not voice.

I feel like Robin would be smiling at this, he didnt seem like the kind of guy that took offense easily and Will said he wanted to honor his memory. This is beautiful
Naw, Robin was very against the commercialization of this work. That's why he quit for so long, Disney went back on their promise not to make toys out of this and their promise to mot make the genie the lead in the advertising. It's very possible that the cash grab by making a nearly unoriginal remake and using it for more toys but cutting Robin out so they can technically keep their promise just might be seen as under-handed and slimy.
@@bsabruzzo well to be fair, one of the biggest reasons is because Jeffery Katzenberg- petty asshole- didn't like that he had a role in Fern Gulley and decided to fuck him over. Honestly as much as I love Shrek and a lot of other DreamWorks movies, I wish that man had been run over by a bus
Will Smith honored Robin's memory by being his own version of the character instead of trying to mimic him, so we can have two versions of the Genie to enjoy without needing to compare who did it better.
Yeah you’re right plus he has huge respect for him he gave him a shoutout on Twitter and said that it was a pleasure to take on such a role in which Robin had before him
According to Genie rules, Robin Williams said the dead can't be brought back to life. Given that rule, Will Smith is the best this world could have done. Smith did a very good job but it just will never be the same. It is just like when Mako Ishikawa died. His understudy Greg Baldwin took over the voice of Aku and of iroh and did a very good job. But it will just never be the same.
@@BCHolbrook So you didn't notice that he's the dad on the boat at the beginning of the movie? Or was this your way of saying that you enjoyed it from the very beginning?
You blended the versions so well together Robin is the OG, but Will was a pretty good Genie. He's the Fresh Genie of Agrabah. I'm sure he made Robin proud
this I agree with. I remember seeing that Will Smith was scared to portray his roll. after having seen both I love both equally and feel that he did a great job of being Geine
maybe, but this movie was actually a breaking point between williams and disney, he explicitly told them hed be in the movie but he didnt want to be use for the promos, just briefly credited. and then they followed up and made him the center of the promotions and he got extremely mad at disney
The way I saw that in my head, both genies were having a singing battle at that point. The imaginary video in my head saw both Genies having a friendly competition of one-upsmanship to be a better Genie to Aladdin, and at that part, they were jumping in front of each other to finish the song the strongest. It was basically both of them going "Nuh-uh, I'm a better friend than you," to each other.
Golden Spark I believe the first line was Robin, second Will, then the last was them both together. I listened twice and I’m pretty sure it was them taking turns then being blended together.
this feels like Robin is the elder Genie, more experienced and knows how to really work the system for the benefit of his master and everyone else. He wants what's good for everyone and will guide you towards the more good wishes. While Will is the younger Genie who hasn't quite hit that age of wisdom yet. He is the mischievous Genie that wants to see just how much trouble he can get his master in, and works the system for his own entertainment and to make his master regret such selfish desires
If I had any skill in animation, I would do it, just because I saw a perfect video of both Genies having a friendly competition with each other to win Aladdin's favor.
Here after watching Once Upon a Studio, and just wanted to say that it was so nice to hear Robin Williams as the Genie one last time for a brief moment in the short. Hearing his voice 9 years after he’s passed brought tears to my eyes.
Im just Abit upset they redid something that didn't need to be redone, and will Smith just doesn't have the energy Robin had when he did the role, will is a good actor he just isn't and will never be the genie. Robin was the human equivalent of crack where will is more weed, both have a style, one is just undeniably better
Dr. Jack Bright Will said he didn’t want to mimic robin performance because he said robin did a outstanding job, note: there are 2 Genies in the original story
Absolutely love Will's version, he poured a lot of his music style, respecting Robin's legacy and making great choices between what was supposed to be kept and what was supposed to change.
The ending just plays so well. With Will's repeating "You aint never had a friend, never had a friend" more than Robins orginal it really help sells them tryna compete for Aladdin's wishes or attention if they were to actually duet it.
In an alternate reality, Robin gladly passed the torch to Will and they did this duet together. I can see it clearly in my head as if I am in that reality.
Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I remember watching it all the time growing up. Hearing this duet, I can't stop listening to it. I love both Robin Williams and Will Smith and this just brings a smile to my face~ Genie has always been my absolute favorite Disney character. RIP and thank you Robin Williams and thank you Will Smith!
Let’s be real, if Robin was alive, he would have not only been 150% been supportive of Will, AND they both would probably have agreed to this duet. It just sounds so natural, you could just feel them smiling at each other and riffing off each other
@@hobbitpsi Will Smith already looks young. Robin was getting old in the 90s. Why are you offended by the fact that he would look even older 20 years later? Will Smith looks the same as he did 20 years ago. Robin was obviously not going that route.
Both actors mean a lot to me, and having both of them sing in time, not cut over each other but rather work in harmony, which ironically is how they carry out the Genie legacy is beautiful. This is one of the only songs that makes me tear up because of how Robin made Genie his own, and how Will honoured Robin by being his own genie, not following his predecessor.
It's kinda smooth, but you an immediatly tell when the Robin version plays because it uses less digital intruments. Whenever you hear the horns, and big band parts its more Robin than Wills, which the produced digitally without a huge band.

The Best Noob I don’t he would have wanted to but I think he would have loved that they found someone to give it their own style an you should respect that instead of hating on it
Now that I thinking it, it would have been better if the Blue Genie ,along with Iago,Carpet,Abu,Genie Jafar, and the Cave of Wonders well were 2D in the live action remake
animation has a certain advantage in expressing powerful imagery. Live action as the limitations of being constrained to what is possible. going past that breaks the feeling a realisms that live action brings so its tricky to get the best of both. its possible but its a lot harder to pull off.

Well, apart from the fact that Robin Williams was literally blackmailed into doing the role by Disney threatening to choke his passion project at the time - Ferngully - and they then used his name as the main selling point in their commercials, which was his one stipulation (that they wouldn't) when he finally accepted the job. So, don't think he would have cared much one way or another.

So basically His own spin was the only choice there...Didn't like the movie myself, but Will was the only good thing about it.

I like how there's a distinct difference between Robin's and Will's characterization of the genie.
Robin has more of a classic, cheesy and goofy personality focusing around comical nonsense, while Will has more of a modern, smooth persona, mucking around and just being cool.

Not saying this comment is bad but British should never be put into writing. Again not a bad comment but 'mucking about' should never be put into writing and not voice.

It was basically both of them going "Nuh-uh, I'm a better friend than you," to each other.

You gotta admit, we did make a lot of fun of Will smith being the Genie before this came out, but he absolutely nailed this song as best he could
this feels like Robin is the elder Genie, more experienced and knows how to really work the system for the benefit of his master and everyone else.

See if Robin Williams was still alive I would of loved this to have happened in real life.
R.I.P. Robin Williams
We never had a friend like you. 😭
Damn right.
@Loi Kids which is why I LOVE that he asked Nintendo if it was OK to name his daughter Zelda. He is TRUELY an amazing man!!!!!
I wish I met Robin Williams in person if he did died 😔 😞 😪 😢
@@AnnRita45 He's one of the few actors who I genuinely think is a nice person.
Live-action remakes should not exist. I can't imagine a Snow White Remake or a Hunchback Remake, and Will Smith will never be my Genie. That can only be Robin Williams.
Robin Williams was incredible and can never be replaced. Will, you did him proud.
I’m not someone to edit and say thanks for the likes but over a thousand is something lmao
Amelia Smith yup
No he didnt lol
Premature Tiger flesh Um?
Premature Tiger flesh that’s the problem with you guys. Your expecting the live action remake to exactly like the *cartoon* . Like give credit where its due. It obviously wasn’t going to be an exact copy but they did their thing with it, so at least be grateful.
@@jet7519 no you categorizing idiot... i expect at least slight Charisma. It was lazy & youre a bitch... oh wait the earth is round just in case you wanted a third fact go fuck yourself is a special request Will was terrible.
Rest in peace Robin Williams and Will Smith's career
Underrated comment.
OOOOOHHHH! BURN IN SMITH'S CARRER! THAT SLAPS HARD!
There can never be another Robin Williams. And never another Will Smith. Two legends giving their own great twists on the same character
This makes me so happy. Will Smith said in an interview that he did everything that he could to make it as good as Robin's portrayal of Genie and this combo is proof of that. I think Robin would have been completely happy with the way this turned out.
@Sebastian Rubin Dang, way to crush the mood

It’s like they keep cutting off each other to get their version of the song in, but are doing it in a way that’s comical but not jarring, like one keeps jumping in front of the other with their own version, and it’s so good! 🤩
Edit: JEEZ! Chill out on the likes, guys! XD
we should get an animated version of that premise.
I can see that happening especially if there was a film where there were two versions of the genie.
Locnix it’s like their fighting for Aladdin
Moar likes for you 😛
@Jackson Pavlich Never...what?
WHY AM I JUST FINDING THIS NOW?!?!??
This duet version pay tribute to Robin Williams. Rest in peace & you're free....
1951-2014
Fantastic job! The first mashup that wasnt just the two songs being thrown on top of each other! I can tell you played with the tempos and instumentals to make the switching flow well, and it really shines through! But of course, it all kinda exploded at the very last line. Choosing which which of them gets the last line can be hard, but I'd absolutely love an updated version should you ever fimd a better way to mix the end. Phenomenal work! I hope you're proud!
Thanks for the comment.
@@sorenthefilmbrony perfection I wish u can do one with 3 genies and I wish u can animate that scene please
@@sorenthefilmbrony cool u did can u do a trio on those 2 songs please
@@sorenthefilmbrony You just earned a subscription for a well blended two versions of the song.
Honestly I disagree. Both of them should have the final line it’s as if they are having a friendly competition
My heart! 😍 I wish Robin Williams could have heard this ❤️ And this works so well considering there are 2 genies in the original fairytale 😃
I know right, and shout out to you for being intellectual and knowing the original fairytale 😂
Did you know Robin Williams had some issues with Disney for years because of how they used his name(in the promotional material to sell the movie) and voice (in merchandise) against his express wishes?
It took the person who did it leaving the company and an apology from Disney in order to come back to voice Genie again. (I believe someone else voiced the character during the sequel)

@@morphingninja i also heard that apology came with an expensive piece of art. And i Think it was Return of Jafar that he wasnt the Genie in. But could be wrong
@@tyberiuscarter5011 You are correct. In Aladdin and Aladdin and the King of Thieves Robin Williams was the voice of the Genie. In fact once Robin Williams agreed to reprise his role, the original script for King of Thieves was essentially scrapped.
