Im just Abit upset they redid something that didn't need to be redone, and will Smith just doesn't have the energy Robin had when he did the role, will is a good actor he just isn't and will never be the genie. Robin was the human equivalent of crack where will is more weed, both have a style, one is just undeniably better
Dr. Jack Bright Will said he didn’t want to mimic robin performance because he said robin did a outstanding job, note: there are 2 Genies in the original story
Everyone here is talking about how they imagine the two of them in a competition for who will be "Aladdin's friend" I imagine it as two beings of the Genie, it could be really fun to do it as an animation
I'm only disappointed in the fact that we'll never get an actual duet from these two, I mean how cool would it be if this was performed at the Grammys or Oscars & I don't watch either or.
You blended the versions so well together Robin is the OG, but Will was a pretty good Genie. He's the Fresh Genie of Agrabah. I'm sure he made Robin proud
I'm sure Robin would have jumped at the chance to re-record this with Will were he still with us. And he would have had so much fun with it. Hearing the blend was amazing to me and Robin would have absolutely loved it
I was initially really worried that the genie wouldn’t be the same without Robin Williams, but I LOVE that Will Smith didn’t try to replace him but instead out his own spin on the character. It was one of the biggest surprises in the movie and I loved it...
There wasn't a choice. Genie character was written FOR Robin Williams, They didn't even consider anyone else for the role. If Will Smith would tried to imitate it, he would propably had failed or even if he hadn't fans wouldn't have accepted it. So basically His own spin was the only choice there...Didn't like the movie myself, but Will was the only good thing about it.
I could imagine Robin doing his regular stand-up and then Will barges in and starting playing Friend Like Me and then Robin's like "LET'S GET IT ON LIKE THE PRINCE OF BEL-AIR!" and starts singing with Will.
this I agree with. I remember seeing that Will Smith was scared to portray his roll. after having seen both I love both equally and feel that he did a great job of being Geine
maybe, but this movie was actually a breaking point between williams and disney, he explicitly told them hed be in the movie but he didnt want to be use for the promos, just briefly credited. and then they followed up and made him the center of the promotions and he got extremely mad at disney
I feel like Robin would be smiling at this, he didnt seem like the kind of guy that took offense easily and Will said he wanted to honor his memory. This is beautiful
Naw, Robin was very against the commercialization of this work. That's why he quit for so long, Disney went back on their promise not to make toys out of this and their promise to mot make the genie the lead in the advertising. It's very possible that the cash grab by making a nearly unoriginal remake and using it for more toys but cutting Robin out so they can technically keep their promise just might be seen as under-handed and slimy.
@@bsabruzzo well to be fair, one of the biggest reasons is because Jeffery Katzenberg- petty asshole- didn't like that he had a role in Fern Gulley and decided to fuck him over. Honestly as much as I love Shrek and a lot of other DreamWorks movies, I wish that man had been run over by a bus
this feels like Robin is the elder Genie, more experienced and knows how to really work the system for the benefit of his master and everyone else. He wants what's good for everyone and will guide you towards the more good wishes. While Will is the younger Genie who hasn't quite hit that age of wisdom yet. He is the mischievous Genie that wants to see just how much trouble he can get his master in, and works the system for his own entertainment and to make his master regret such selfish desires
The temptation is real, but I would only be able to do an animatic since I don't have disney level skills u_u I might though Maybe I'll come back if i do :^)
If I had any skill in animation, I would do it, just because I saw a perfect video of both Genies having a friendly competition with each other to win Aladdin's favor.
In an alternate reality, Robin gladly passed the torch to Will and they did this duet together. I can see it clearly in my head as if I am in that reality.
Listening to this makes me cry every time. I love both of these two so so much. I can’t believe how long it’s been without Robin Williams and I don’t ever wanna see Will Smith go. Thank you so much for making this.
The way I saw that in my head, both genies were having a singing battle at that point. The imaginary video in my head saw both Genies having a friendly competition of one-upsmanship to be a better Genie to Aladdin, and at that part, they were jumping in front of each other to finish the song the strongest. It was basically both of them going "Nuh-uh, I'm a better friend than you," to each other.
Golden Spark I believe the first line was Robin, second Will, then the last was them both together. I listened twice and I’m pretty sure it was them taking turns then being blended together.
The ending just plays so well. With Will's repeating "You aint never had a friend, never had a friend" more than Robins orginal it really help sells them tryna compete for Aladdin's wishes or attention if they were to actually duet it.

I love how everyone was hating on Will Smith (myself included) yet he *CARRIED* the movie.
Isaiah Young how would it be a pun?
Honestly I saw a better performance out of Naomi Scott over Will Smith. Her acting as Jasmine was absolutely incredible.
@@aple1015 i know he didn't want to minic and i was meaning the original movie, and i just wanted more energy
I love the way you gave Robin the first verse. Smith did a great job; it had to be scary to step into his shoes.

Robin: *impressed* Well, lookie here, haha!
Sooooo true that’s exsactly what I was thinking!!!
Funnily enough I can imagine that happening
I just smiled coz of that comment
I just want a remake where its two geines and he gets 5 wishes
Aww that would be so cute
If it's a duet, then wouldn't it be called "Friends like us"?
Alternatively: what if it's both of them trying to out-genie each other?
Yeah
Friends like us, comrade.
*Russian anthem plays distantly*
BUt hey at least you didn't make a pun for once
Everyone here is talking about how they imagine the two of them in a competition for who will be "Aladdin's friend" I imagine it as two beings of the Genie, it could be really fun to do it as an animation
Wait does this mean I get 6 wishes?
I'm only disappointed in the fact that we'll never get an actual duet from these two, I mean how cool would it be if this was performed at the Grammys or Oscars & I don't watch either or.
Now I'm sad. Thanks
Man Robbin and Smith got talent, and I certainly agree
May Robbin R.I.P
it would have been a legendary moment for sure
Robin is ded
I don't watch award shows either, but I would for this.
You blended the versions so well together
Robin is the OG, but Will was a pretty good Genie. He's the Fresh Genie of Agrabah. I'm sure he made Robin proud
Fresh genie of agrabah
Apparently, while filming Will said he’d never be as good as Robin so he just did his own thing.
When you get it💀✋
Yeah the two versions blend very well together how you did it. You took the best lines from each how they sound and it works!
I see you're a man of culture as well
I'm sure Robin would have jumped at the chance to re-record this with Will were he still with us. And he would have had so much fun with it. Hearing the blend was amazing to me and Robin would have absolutely loved it
Damn this really SLAPS
I knew Will would be good because he's an incredible actor and I had an idea of how it would play out and I wasn't disappointed.
How live action movies should be made
Excluding avatar :angree:
People like to heavily criticize before the movie even comes out it’s crazy dude.
@@darkx6869 I wonder why, every other live action remake by disney was "SOOOO GOOOD!"
In another timeline, Smith and Williams would have performed this song together on stage. 😞 RIP Robin Williams. The world never had a friend like you.
I could imagine Robin doing his regular stand-up and then Will barges in and starting playing Friend Like Me and then Robin's like "LET'S GET IT ON LIKE THE PRINCE OF BEL-AIR!" and starts singing with Will.
The man went out on his own terms instead of being a prisoner in his own mind, while his family decided to pull the plug or not.
If rovin was alive they wouldnt have taken will to the rule
Bro this slaps as good as will smith
"slow clap"
Just awesome!! The editing is amazing! It sounds as if they actually did live recording together! Great job!
Somewhere in heaven Mr. Williams is getting his grove on and nodding his head in approval to Mr. Smith.
this I agree with. I remember seeing that Will Smith was scared to portray his roll. after having seen both I love both equally and feel that he did a great job of being Geine
Definitely
maybe, but this movie was actually a breaking point between williams and disney, he explicitly told them hed be in the movie but he didnt want to be use for the promos, just briefly credited. and then they followed up and made him the center of the promotions and he got extremely mad at disney
@@sh0ck3r48 They did eventually reconcile.
This sparkles joy
I can imagine Will and Robin on a stage friendly competing to be the main Genie by showing each other up.
Oh I totally agree he'd be up to doing that. :)
and will being boo'd off stage for sounding like shit

Yeeeeeaaaass
ruclips.net/video/3Qwhx86Qv4Y/видео.html
honestly, gender-bent version of prince ali sounds way better than will smith
I feel like Robin would be smiling at this, he didnt seem like the kind of guy that took offense easily and Will said he wanted to honor his memory. This is beautiful
So true..
I want this but for the Bear Necessities and I Wanna Be Like You from the Jungle Book movies
100% agree but they didn't put "In loving memory of Robin Williams" in the end credits😢
I love how different they are. And a really well done with the blending.

this feels like Robin is the elder Genie, more experienced and knows how to really work the system for the benefit of his master and everyone else.
I like this comment a lot
Pretty sure what you described Will as is called a djinn
Turner Phillips you’re probably right. I’m not real familiar with djinn

If I had any skill in animation, I would do it, just because I saw a perfect video of both Genies having a friendly competition with each other to win Aladdin's favor.
@@bethmcdonald6070 is there some (non-Will Smith) genie rule 63? cute, not huge :P
In an alternate reality, Robin gladly passed the torch to Will and they did this duet together. I can see it clearly in my head as if I am in that reality.
I'm in the wrong reality
We'd all rather be in that reality than this one...
given how much Williams resented how Disney screwed him on Aladdin, I don't think that would have happened.
@@superanimeniac to be fair they did forgive and forget years after that. Even came back one more time to play the genie

WeLl yOU dOn'T HAvE tO rUb iT IN!!
I feel you, brother.
"Rub it in" hehehe a genie lamp pun lol
Golden Spark I believe the first line was Robin, second Will, then the last was them both together. I listened twice and I’m pretty sure it was them taking turns then being blended together.
Oh yeah, lol🤣😂
They repeated it like 20 times!😂😅
When they kept saying "You ain't ever had a friend, ever had a friend", I felt that.
Just the flow of the old style from the original and the remake was just a treat to the ear.
🥲🥲
Never realized how much this song slaps before.
At 0:38, it sounds like Will is trying to make his point, then Rob cuts him off in a mocking tone.

The ending just plays so well. With Will's repeating "You aint never had a friend, never had a friend" more than Robins orginal it really help sells them tryna compete for Aladdin's wishes or attention if they were to actually duet it.
@DONT ok I won’t :)
I actually don't hear it as a competition but rather just one more case where Genie copied himself to enhance an already fantastic performance.

@@humbledexrian I don't think so. Robbin Williams didn't have the best relationship with Disney after the movie Aladdin came out. However I would've liked to think Robin would have enjoyed Will Smith's adaptation if he was alive today.
The Best Noob I don’t he would have wanted to but I think he would have loved that they found someone to give it their own style an you should respect that instead of hating on it
