I love that you're looking to adopt a kitty that others would look over bc of her being a bit neurospicy!! Years ago (2005) I called the cat shelter and asked them who their longest inhabitant was (no fosters just cages) and it was 2 years. No one wanted him bc he had had kidney stones and needed a special diet. I went and got him and he had a cellmate who had also been there nearly 2 years with the same condition. I asked if I could take him too because I didn't want to separate them considering they shared a crate... The shelter literally was like OMG REALLY?? and they waived all the adoption fees AND gave me all the special diet food they had for the cats AND they gave me a BIG crate they no longer used for my german shepherd! I ended up volunteering there for about a year. My cats were doing so well the vet approved them to move off the special diet to a high quality diet that I could by at a local pet store. They lived to be about 18 each (since we don't know there true ages since they were street cats) and they never had any further kidney issues. The vet figured the kidney stones were caused by the stress of being in a shelter. So they were looked over and ended up being perfectly healthy minus needing a higher end brand of cat food instead of a cheap brand. I was sooo saddened by how long they had lived in the shelter though. It was literally sad when I went to get them bc they were the only cats out of like 100 that didn't stand up and pay me any attention bc they were so used to being looked over that they didn't get their hopes up! When It was time to put the second one down, the entire vet staff was in tears because many of them had volunteered during his stay at the shelter, and treated his kidney issues and done his checkups etc. It was very touching. For all the years I had them everyone who volunteered at the shelter always referred to me as the "lady who adopted Hank and Shadow" like I was some sort of hero. Definitely NOT a hero, but it just shows how much those cats touched peoples hearts...

If I'm not mistaken, the version of Aria you showed in the video was never completed. Tokyopop later re-released and completed the series as Aria Masterpiece Collection. The first volume of the new version included Aqua, the prequel story to Aria, so I suggest you look for this new edition.
Ao Haru Ride is also an anime, so I do recommend it if you don't feel like reading the manga. Also I recommend Kimi ni todoke, both manga and anime are amazing and it's one of my favorite anime/mangas of all time

Having another cat can be really beneficial! Cats are not solitary animals, and Calcifer seems like an energetic boy who gets on well with other animals, he’ll probably be easier to handle with a friend :)
Manga and Richard III in one video? Oh boy it’s my time to shine! It’s very different from the manga you usually read but Requiem of the Rose King by Kanno Aya is a manga series (loosely) based on Richard III and it’s so good, it’s one of my favorites. Highly recommend if you’re looking to expand into some manga that’s a bit less slice of life!
Shakespeare’s histories are FASCINATING and so good.
Fruits Basket is one of my favorite mangas of all time!! I hope you have the greatest time reading it as well as all the other mangas !
Along with Fruits Basket, Ao no Flag/Blue Flag its also one of my favorite mangas! I think it is easy to find and its completed in 8 volumes. Really really recommend it to you. I'm also starting Brothers Karamazov and weirdly its going much easier than I thought hahaha. Hope you have a good time 💜

Antony Sher published a book of journal entries from his time as an actor developing the role of Richard III. It’s called Year of the King and the parts I read for school were sooo interesting. He took the approach of making Richard the spider king.. you’ll see based on how he depicted the deformity!

Also yes to Fruits Basket!! It’s the first manga I ever bought.. back in 2006 😅 it’s so incredibly wholesome and just gets better with each volume. Tohru is one of the most inspiring characters ever in my opinion and really influenced me as a child, I really hope you love it!! 💞

In highschool I had the same English teacher for grade 9, 10 and 11 and he pretty much ONLY taught Shakespeare, so I missed out on normal literature, but I still remember reading some of the plays. I think it was great to read them even though many were bleh, because once you figure out how to read them your reading comprehension seems to be boosted!!
PS there was a tiny shrew in my house in the winter, I caught it on a trap and they die super fast as they need to eat every 15 mins (not even kidding!!) but I yelled at it before I caught it "I AM NOT TAMING THE SHREW!!!" and the only one who knew I was referencing Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew was my son who is prepping to start his English degree in the fall LOL.
When you have time you need to watch the Hollow Crown which are adaptations of the historical plays by the BBC. There are two series - the first includes Richard II, Henry IV (Parts 1 & 2) and Henry V, while the second series includes Henry VI (Parts 1 & 2) and Richard III. I saw them on stage but they were then filmed. Well worth your time.
Richard III is good, but Richard II is my favorite history. It’s gorgeous, and I highly recommend it! I also recommend watching some performances, even online. The Hollow Crown and anything with David Tennant in it are some good options!

When we covered Shakespeare in college, my prof had us watch Looking For Richard when studying Richard III. Basically it's a film where Al Pacino wanders around in costume, quoting the play and talking in depth about putting on the play and who this person/character was. Kinda weird but also cool. Highly recommend checking it out!
Emma you should definitely check out Yona of the Dawn (it's a manga), I think you might really enjoy it! If you don't mind that the cast is mostly men and the protagonist is one of the only girls that we really get to spend time with (which was initially a bit of a problem for me) but the author (who is a woman, and you can tell) almost makes you forget that. There isn't any crude objectification and both the men and the women (because there are other women still) of the story go through so much growth together it's just so beautiful. Yona is defo one of my favourite female protagonists out there because of her growth; I mean she's just so precious (I am biased lol). You might end up loving it, or hating it idk, but it's a really engaging story anyway so I recommend you give it a try!!!
Business Proposal is a K-Drama. And the remarried Empress is such a good webtoon (that's where I found it), glad to see it in manhwa form. Also can't wait to see the new kitty!
Sometimes it's hard to find physical copies of some manga volumes but if you're just in for the story you can always read it on kindle.
That’s wonderful! In my country, most shelters don’t let you adopt if you live in a city apartment. They even come to your house and make sure that every thing is super spacious and such. So I’m not able to adopt, unfortunately. 🥲
nicola traveling through the demons world by asaya miyanaga is a cute wholesome manga. it’s only 4 volumes and easy to find. ✨ over the garden wall if lighter with less plot.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but AbeBooks is really good for finding manga that is harder to find. I did a quick skim and saw a volume 2 of Aria as well as volume 2 of Kitchen Princess. Most of the books I've encountered there are used, but when I got a used manga volume for myself, it looked almost new. Have a nice day :)

New subscriber here. I love love Aria manga and also its anime but i like the aesthetic of the manga more, it's more detailed. Btw, if you like slow-life meaningful manga, i highly recommend Natsume Yuujinchou, idk you've read it or not since im new to this channel.
omgeeeee my kitty totally has this! our vet thought she had just been stepped on because her back legs especially are very imbalanced but she has adapted just fine. her case is very mild though, none of the head shaking but she is definitely our wobbly sister. we like to call her swivel hips because she has such a swagger when she walks around 😂 she has trouble climbing our tall cat tower and getting down, and can lose her balance pretty easy, but otherwise she is just fine! you guys will do great! so excited for you
Richard III is one of my favorites! I'm so glad you are loving it! I have this book someone gave me as a gift with famous scenes of Shakespeare plays but the characters are all cats. And the one for Richard literally is my favorite thing ever

I'm so happy for you guys! Bringing an adult cat to live with another adult cat can be a little tricky but if they get acquainted slowly they'll be BFFs as have my cats 🥹 My older cat Timmt kept Brina in a headlock a lot and bunny kicked her 😭 but she was like 5 months or so, so we had to watch them and not leave them alone together for couple of weeks but it depends from cat to cat, just know eventually they'll love one another 🥲🩷
We also brought a stray kitten home last sunday. She's tiny and very playful. Having bit of a scene with my dog, but things are undercontrol.
Hang in there with the hard to find manga! I was the same way with trigun a few years ago and spent a lot of time (and money) tracking them down.. and now Dark Horse is hinting at releasing new editions :)))) pain.
So, keep looking!! But also sometimes patience is a virtue 😅
For manga series I would totally recommend "Witch hat atelier"! The art is gorgeous and I've only read two volumes but I already love it so much! I feel like you would enjoy it too bc it's about witches and magic etc ^^

Side note yesssss to Richard iii. I took a Shakespeare historic plays with the backdrop of Machiavelli's The Prince. Lots of fun.

I was never a Shakespeare person, my only experience with Shakespeare is a monologue of Ophelia I played for my theater class back in HS but listening to you get excited about Richard III makes me want to give Shakespeare a try. Your love for any type of books is contagious Emmie and we all love it! On a more exciting note, I got so happy and I was cheering when you took out The Brothers Karamazov. I’m on page 138 and I am all for this book. First of all I got a notebook just for this book. It got me writing down important scenes, jotting down all these Russian names (lol) and just overall hooked. All sorts of emotions. I can’t wait to hear what you have got say about Dostoevsky.

I have a 3 year old grey tabby and I thought she needed a friend because she seemed bored so I got another grey tabby that is 1. the first few days they were not sure of each other but now they are buddies and hang out all day and play non stop. my original cat seems happier now and I have another fur ball to laugh at. I think having 2 is better.

what a cliff hanger! Can't wait to see the new kitty. I adopted two kittens 3 months apart, when I first bought Mika home Oscar was very unhappy and hissy and I thought it was going to take weeks for them to become friends.... On the third day they were sleeping on the same cat bed grooming each other.
Even if this love disappears tonight has been adapted into a movie with the same title. I recommend you to watch it maybe after you read the novel. I love the movie, it’s heart wrenching, I cried, I laugh. The casting is amazing. Truly an experience.
