I followed it through and it worked like a charm. I'll give manjaro a try on my MBP mid 2009. Thanks, man!

and why u create a 2nd EFI? dev/sda1 is your main EFI in the first place. Also, just to let you know that you made a mistake with the partitions. WHEN installing macOS the first RULE is - create 2 partitions (A. system B. Data partition). After the installation process you can always shrink down the Data partition.

2nd efi is to for Linux to keep it isolated from mac. I do not recollect creating mac partitions in this video; I created partitions for Linux. Partitions in mac were created by the macOS installer when I was installing macOS on my macbook.

Sure, at least give 30 -40 GB to Linux. If possible go with Arch.

hi, i installed monterey on my late-2009 macbook (unsupported) using Open core legacy patch. Its working fine..except for partitions which cannot be seen.
I made separate partition for Linux mint, which was installed successfully. But after reboot and pressing option, I could'nt see the Linux partition...by which i cannot select Linux partition.. so I am forced to select EFI boot (Monterey).
    Why is this happening?
And how can I select between partitions?
Is this happening because of OCLP ?
Is the patch creating partition problem ?
    What did i do wrong?
    Would appreciate your help..thanks

My 2 cents. There is something fishy inside your macOS Monterey due to which you cannot see partitions. OLCP is just responsible for faking your mac hardware to the macOS software so that Monterey thinks it is booting on a compatible hardware. The reason you cannot boot is because mac boot loader cannot see an EFI boot Linux partition for some reason. I hope you created the EFI boot Linux partition like I demoed at 14:00

@@HikmatEUstad thank you for responding !!
macOS Monterey was downloaded from apple official website via OCLP, so i don't understand how can it be fishy..
Yes, I did create efi boot, swap, ext4 especially for monterey cuz it was installed via OCLP. But while using HighSierra (official support) I never made efi boot for Linuxmint, cuz it recognised macos efi boot loader and would load smoothly....also all partitions were clearly seen at reboot/alt stage..
      Any other suggestions, pls...would appreciate..

@@davidcorreia8076 OCLP is fishy; not Monterey. So you mean when you installed LinuxMint with HighSierra you could boot but not with Monterey? Try a different Linux distro with Monterey, like Arch or Manjaro or EndeavourOS

@@HikmatEUstad sorry if i've confused you.... Linuxmint is working fine. My problem is NOT booting, but Linux partition, which is not visible.
When i want to work in Monterey, there is no need to select Alt/Option. It boots directly into Monterey....but when i want to work in Linuxmint, i have to press Alt/Option key inorder to select Linuxmint Partition, which is not visible...this is the problem.... If partition is visible then i can select Linuxmint and it will boot. I hope you understand the problem.. pls help to resolve.. thanks..
