It tells me its unable to verify startup disk and sends me to recovery mode. The two options it gives me are “try again” or “startup disk…” try again just fails and startup disk sends me to a new page. The new page is titled choose startup disk, it displays one disc selectable which is macintosh HD, my disk. It says its encrypted, i can decrypt it and then it gives me the option to restart, i do and i go and try to boot Ubuntu again and it puts me back in recovery mode and gives me the same error
I’m nervous about doing this. I have a 2018 MBP and presently boot into windows to play my steam games but windows is horrible with updates etc…so I really want to switch to Linux instead of using windows. All I use the laptop for is gaming, I really don’t use it for anything else. I’m not tech savvy at all
Linux is not good for gaming although it gives better performance there's no huge support yet so you can't play much games, better use custom windows os this will disable the update depending on what you'll use and give you better fps as well since it's modified, anw it is safe especially those bigger makers.
I guess you have made a mistake. macOS partitions are distribute. Do one thing. Force Off the MacBook. Then after it turned off. Hold option and power Key until you see apple logo. It will take you the boot menu, choose Macintosh HD. If it boots normally then no problem otherwise you need to reinstall macOS by following the on screen instructions.
Hey, can I install both ubuntu and windows following this video? I will do actions for ubuntu, and then the same for windows, will it work without issues?
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. It worked well. However, when I tried to remove the ubuntu installation, I mistakenly deleted the wrong partition. Now, I can't boot into the MacOS. While trying the internet recovery and checking the Disk Utility, the partition size is only 1.33 GB (instead of the actual ~512 GB). Can you help me how to get my MacOS back?
Oh god, I think you have messed up MacOS EFI or Recovery partition. When you are inside internet recovery, inside disk utility wipe the Internal DRIVE and reinstall macOS. Or if you have a spare Mac make a bootable USB with macOS and reinstall . See this link: support.apple.com/en-in/101578
@@kskroyaltech Ok, I mean initially there were rumours that even when you disable Secure Boot, Linux won’t be able to detect internal SSD because of the T2 chip, and there were also some problems with keyboard and trackpad, and Wi-Fi. So, I guess, such major issues are fixed? Also could you mention (if you have any info on that) how good is battery life on these Macs on GNU/Linux?
Hi! I tired everything like the video but while installing it tells me “unable to verify startup disk” I’m not sure how to fix this Any help please!!! Thank you
Yes you need a USB stick to create a linux installer and boot into Live Session of Linux so that you can install LINUX on MacBook internal partition that we created in macOS.
For some reason when I boot I cannot seem to move my mouse or keyboard doesn't function, I am using MacBook Air (intel). I get to screen where it says welcome and to install ubuntu but then I can't move my mouse. Any suggestion
Use mouse and Keyboard to install ubuntu. After the installation your keyboard and mouse will work. Make sure while installing Ubuntu you need to tick the two options that says download updates while installing (REQUIRES INTERNET) and install drivers.
Would you mind If I tell You to check GitHub repos , I cannot tell specific driver to install. It depends on the model. For your reference see this repo: github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux#keyboard--touchpad

All I use the laptop for is gaming, I really don’t use it for anything else. I’m not tech savvy at all
You have a t2 Mac. You need to follow t2linux.
Linux is not good for gaming although it gives better performance there's no huge support yet so you can't play much games, better use custom windows os this will disable the update depending on what you'll use and give you better fps as well since it's modified, anw it is safe especially those bigger makers.
don't install ubuntu brother i almost ruined my mac.......and its not worth it macos is all good.....
Hey,
I have a MacBook Pro 2019 ('16).
If I press flash on balenaetcher, nothing happen.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance ^^
Re run the program. Balena etcher very buggy some times.
im at this step at 6:00 and it says for me that 'the version of macos on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled' what do i do?
I guess you have made a mistake. macOS partitions are distribute. Do one thing. Force Off the MacBook. Then after it turned off. Hold option and power Key until you see apple logo. It will take you the boot menu, choose Macintosh HD. If it boots normally then no problem otherwise you need to reinstall macOS by following the on screen instructions.
hi everyone did semeone got issues while installing, it s my case i got a mac air 2017.if semeone can help me
Hey, can I install both ubuntu and windows following this video? I will do actions for ubuntu, and then the same for windows, will it work without issues?
On Mac it's tedious to do Ubuntu and windows at the same time.
After i select start up security utility the only option i get is to turn on firmware passowrd how do i reach the strtup security screen?
NO need to worry just follow the tutorial straight up .
Even after I deleted Ubuntu I still have EFI boot drive on my boot loader.
How do I remove that
Have you had a chance to fix issue with suffering from Sleep/Wake?
I tried but no proper drivers yet.

So did Linux community finally fix those issues with T2 Macs? Is it possible to install & normally use the system?
Some Issues are still there but that doesn't stop you installing linux on T2 Macs.
Hi!
I tired everything like the video but while installing it tells me “unable to verify startup disk”
I’m not sure how to fix this
Any help please!!!
Thank you
Try rebooting the Mac ad try again. Also check out this link: support.apple.com/en-in/guide/disk-utility/dskutl1040/mac
During installation, my touch pad and keyboard is not working. It’s MacBook PRO 2019
me too
Which Linux is the best for a MacBook Pro M1 ?
Asahi is your only option really
do you need to create a swap partition as well?
Its optional.
Will you make the one with external ssd?
Testing bro, currently Rufus is having an issues.
Do you need a usb stick and also is this booting linux not linux and mac at the same time?
Yes you need a USB stick to create a linux installer and boot into Live Session of Linux so that you can install LINUX on MacBook internal partition that we created in macOS.
@@kskroyaltech Ok I have a usb stick I just need to buy an adpater for type c to usb
My keyboard and trackpad dosent work when i launch linux, what can i do to resolvet?
Install it using any USB mouse or Keyboard. While installing choose to download all drivers.
@@kskroyaltech will it always boot ubuntu first? is there a way to priotize mac os ?
Hey man! I was able to bott Ubuntu all thanks to you. But my trackpad and keyboard aren't doing anything. Any ideas on how to deal with that?
Would you mind If I tell You to check GitHub repos , I cannot tell specific driver to install. It depends on the model. For your reference see this repo: github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux#keyboard--touchpad
Awesome thank you very much @kskroyaltech
What's the purpose of having two EFI partition?
In this particular case of MacOS, it's recommended to use separate EFI or ESP for Linux.
Confused by the USB part. Do I need an actual usb drive to store the Linux program on? Very new to this...
Pen Drive is the preferred One. It's like loading linux installer into Pen drive and transferring it to the internal drive on the computer.
@@kskroyaltech Thank u. I only have access to a USB be with 32gb storage capacity at the moment. Of note, I only have about 30GB available to partition on my Mac. Do you think it would still make sense to try to do this? Or would the limited free storage across the two operating systems make my computer exceedingly slow?
Mac doesn't care about how many operating systems you run.
yep 30GB is fine no props.
@@kskroyaltech I now have 57 GB free. So, wish we luck as I try to do this...
Successfully dual booted but after using macos again I can’t get back to linux its just giving the non entry sign
Can you shutdown your Mac !! Then Hold Power + OPTION until you see boot options. Choose ubuntu.
How do I make it to where, when I open my Mac, MacOS shows up as the default instead of Linux
hold option key and reboot the Mac. Keep holding Option KEY, until you see some drives on the screen. Choose EFI and boot linux
