    This works good for the mid 2011 mac-book air. Just remember to check the box at the initial installation for the extra graphics and WiFi drivers. That was something I forgot the first time and I couldn't get the WiFi working. Had to reinstall again and select it.

      @@MaoYu23 Even if it works, you'll probably find, like I did, that it's still quite slow with heaps of other problems. After a week of struggling, I gave it up altogether, sold my old 2009 for €50, and bought a Late 2013 iMac for €300. I'm running OS Mojave on an external Samsung T5 SSD through the USB3 port. • @Cristofopo
    @Cristofopo 2 года назад

    I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
    Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
    There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

    2 questions for you:
    1) can i use a windows pc to create the flash drive? (still with balenaEtcher though)
    2) my imac no longer has a working display, but i have a way to hook it to a external monitor. Can I still run through this whole process without the built in display on the imac? (its a 2006 imac)

      I haven’t bothered going back to try again as the WIFI works perfectly.

    Do you not need first to formatting your usb boot stick into extended Mac journal/ or FAT32/ DOS before using etcher?
    I think it must be extended journal, I tried this method on my win10 pc to create boot stick for Mac but the stick not shows up on my 2012 Mac, so I guess to create a boot stick for mac you must do it on a mac.....
