Your pyramid shaped crystal - the shape is called tetrahedral - that is a magnetite crystal. That is the shape they come in.

Hematite in this area comes in a few forms, also there is pyrite cubes/limonite , and magnetite crystals too....Lots of mineralization

I’ve never used it myself but my understanding is that it does find gold and handles hot ground well.
