  • Outgoing Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci is “so arrogant”, says GXO Strategies Director Cameron Milner.
Mr Milner branded the CEO’s interview with the ABC’s Four Corners a “trainwreck”.
“He wants to take Woolworths woke while he’s celebrating his customers going broke,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“On the day of the gouging inquiry was announced went out and cancelled Australia Day.
    “I’m glad he’s gone.”

The thing with these big bosses these days they are not the humble general manager of years gone by. Once upon a time a big boss of a supermarket chain would be Mr Average living in your street in a same 3 bedroom fibro home like you lived in. You'd greet him of a morning as you both rode the bus to work. Mr Average would be dressed in a suit and tie and earned a reasonable salary for the position he held, he was just like you and me. Nope, not today. Mr Average is long gone. Today's big boss is not humble. He is not your next door neighbour that'll ride a bus or train to work, he is so far removed from the simple life that he cares zero for the average person. He has money, too much money. He has authority, too much authority ... he doesn't care about the customer or client, he has to make profit, lots of profit, his only reason to exist.

It's so funny how they spent millions on the voice campaign and even had announcements over the speakers telling people to support the yes campaign and then a few months later they pull Australia day memorabilia and then claim to be food based, when at the same time they stocked up with Chinese new year memorabilia and sold disgusting fruit and vegetables which would've been lucky to last more than a couple of days! Yet they still raised the prices of their fruit and vegetables for the Australia day weekend, even though the quality wasn't there! Not to mention they've lost at least 5 suppliers of their fruit and vegetables due to their mistreatment of the suppliers since December! These days if you're a new farmer you'd be stupid to start a contract with Coles and Woolworths, you're literally signing your life away and throwing yourself into a world of despair and depression! Also a notable mention is the fact my local store made 2 million dollars Christmas week, the manager's all received bonuses, the fruit and veg manager received a couple thousand dollars alone yet the regular workers received leftover roasts from the bain marie accompanied with a couple of woolworths brand salads!

The Board must be replaced, but also it's HR department and marketing arm - strip it back to its core operations and re-build from there; and those changes will never happen, things will go "underground" for a while until the bad smell has gone from their "image" and then re-emerge; expect them to be back on the woke bandwagon probably from the start of the next fiscal year.

The current enquiries into supermarket prices should also include the shrinkflation and skimpflation of products. There really needs to be more transparency around the shrinking portion sizes, yet the prices are more than the previous larger packs. It isn't just about the price on the shelf, but the size of the product as well. I have not shopped at Woolworths since we'll before Australia Day and won't ever again. I also buy my meat at the local butcher, vegetables from side of the road stalls when I can and use Costco for some items. With 65% market share, Coles and Woolies should be much more transparent. Perhaps when a retailer has more than X% market share legislation should ensure there are audits with suppliers to ensure fairness and anti-gouging. Just ask the dairy farmers and small independent hardware stores for guidance. Oh wait, they don't exist any more.

Smoke and mirrors. What should have happened 40 years ago was to censure woolies and Coles for anti competitive pricing. The duopoly is the real problem, it’s a problem we have in many sectors. Free markets work when there are free and fair markets without cronyism . Woolies selling veg at 90% off to close out an independent across the road is unfair. We make rules for sport so school kids are not made to play against professionals, so why not help combat unfair practices. ACCC should have focused on competition in the first place, now what we have is an attempt to force the two major players to reduce prices. We know how that will really end, if the duopoly is forced to reveal pricing,. It will and we will end up with unintended consequences and it will most likely force prices up. Make it easier for others to compete, reduce regulation. Create incentives for others to enter the market.

this govt is against small businesses and makes it as difficult as possible, hoping that small businesses give up and close down so that there is only a handful of multinationals that control Aust.

Someone should look at who are the largest shareholders of both Coles and woolworths, it is the same companies that all lead to one company and if I read it correct they own the same % in both coles and woolworths

yea, maybe you should look into who are the people on the board of Woolworth's, they and the shareholders are equally to blame for picking a sociopath who'll make them a lot of money, and take it from the customers. Let's see who is the next CEO, a new face but with the same nature?

These companies always replace CEO's every 3-5 years. Hell even Bolt says he benefitted the shareholders which makes him an effective CEO.
It's really a nothing story, there is no barrier to entry for other supermarkets as Coles/Woolies strangle their suppliers to where if they even looked elsewhere they'd be out of business.
The whole Australia Day stuff is minimal as all those products are made in China anyway, the shares fell for all markets at that stage of the year before bouncing back.
The main reason Aldi succeeds is that most of their suppliers are in house and rotated reguarly to maximise profits off of a smaller range with less employees
The anti labour digs in this private market based story are hypocritical since Sky News are massive proponents for "free market" and privatisation in general

Yep agree. A man in his late 50s retiring is not at all surprising. They've been recruiting for a replacement for over 6 months and already named his successor so it's fair to say this isn't a knee-jerk reaction. Hilarious the journalists slapping themselves on the back 😂😂
