The head coach must take responsibility. Fire her for letting her staff do this. And if she didn’t know she’s no coach.
Priestman should be gone as well...there is no way she didn't know. What would two assistant coaches do on their own with whatever Intel they gathered? When she was asked point blank if she knew about it, she refused to answer, instead offering up a large order of word salad to deflect. She and the COC have embarrassed themselves, the entire Olympic team, and Canadians in general. I feel sorry for all the other Olympic team members...their experience has been sullied.
let's investigate first before quick conclusions without substance pushes people out. yesterday an acclaimed coach today a villain. Sorry not my way of fairness.

This is very unfortunate. It’s a black eye for Canadian Soccer. The head coach should be sacked. She can’t claim that she was not aware that this was happening. It’s really too bad considering everything that John Herdman did for the women’s program and for Soccer in Canada. People have been saying that this is not a new phenomenon in soccer. You have to have a little more common sense when you have the eyes of the world on an event like the Olympics.

What was the point? They've beat NZ in every previous encounter... and even if it were a tougher rival, there is never an excuse of cheating or even the perception of cheating. What an embarrassment for Canada and the fact that Bev Priesman has recused herself smells fishy. Is she trying to preempt further scrutiny because she was involved?

@@sean367 There were Australian Olympic staffers that got attacked during a robbery, another Australian athlete got his team van smashed into and belongings stolen (although that happened in Belgium), Argentinian footballers that also got robbed, and there was an Australian woman that got gang raped by 5 men.

I feel bad for the players, but let's be honest they would have benefitted from these actions. I'm sure those involved would have understood the risk, given that Paris is under threat of terrorist activity and they would have known that flying a drone was a potentially criminal activity, so why do it unless the risk was worth the reward? Was the risk worth the reward in the past and by not getting caught did they have the belief that it could be done without incrimination? Unfortunately the team needs to withdraw and a full independent investigation needs to be done to determine if this was done in the past to the advantage of the team(s). If it is proven that this was done in Tokyo then it needs to dealt with accordingly. Canadian athletes have benefitted from the athletes from other countries being kicked out and banned after being caught cheating, so they need to held to that same standard - whether they knew about it or not they still benefitted. Sad.

Personally I think this is absolutely ridiculous, when did doing things in open view of the sky start being protected from being seen? If a plane flies over the training do all the passengers to cover they're eyes? If you want privacy these days unfortunately that means being under a roof behind closed doors.

Team Canada is mostly all pro's and have been playing together for a very long time. They won with no financial support so they can handle no coach easily. They are prepared and ready no matter what, the scandal isn't about the athletes.

who's brilliant idea was to spy using a noisy drone on a soccer team we were gonna easily beat on DAY ONE of the plympics? Incompetence doesn't go away by cheating.
Jesse March and the Canada Men's National Team worked so hard for a great Copa America and then the female coach and team does a 180 and screws up. What a shame really.
