Absolutely exceeded everyone’s expectations. A lot of doubt going into it, winter World Cup, Qatar hosting it, mid season break… but honestly most players and teams were just so up for it. It was a really even competition, you really couldn’t put a definitive country on it (especially when you look at what teams like Australia, Japan and of course Morocco done). Of course you can’t overlook the controversies (and there were definitely plenty) but I found it a really entertaining World Cup, probably the best of my lifetime (I was born in ‘99). As for my favourite to win, I did have Argentina. Even after the first game against Saudi Arabia, I still backed them. I really believed we would be getting a Messi vs Ronaldo final, just felt like it was meant to be. All in all, fantastic tournament and to see the iconic pictures of the greatest player of our generation (and arguably of all time) with his hands on that trophy… at last, were amazing. Love seeing some Wingy football!! Merry Christmas mate.
World Cup 2022 in terms of football was outstanding. Apart from maybe 2018 it was the best World Cup I’ve ever seen. I’m so happy for Argentina and Messi I gotta be honest. Messi is undeniably the goat now nobody can argue. We will never see a player like him again. What a tournament, what a final. Despite the controversy it was a truly great World Cup. Also I loved the picture of Aguero carrying Messi on his shoulders. Really warmed my heart that. Great throwback to Diego Maradona being carried after the 86 World Cup final. Its an iconic image already just like the Maradona one.

A bit of the topic of the video but what is your opinion on the doctor who story: the keys of marinus
Great video man! I found this WC to be absolutely brilliant, but I feel that it could have been better if it was done in the Summer, gets all the fans in the footballl mood especially for England but nonetheless from a footballing standpoint it couldn't have been any better, there was drama, upsets, amazing goals and so much unpredictability all round. I had Argentina, Brazil and England as favourites for the tournament, then the likes of France and Portugal to be dark horses. Though I have to say, massive credit to the likes of Japan, Croatia and Morocco for being amazing underdogs throughout the tournament, they all showed a lot of heart which got a lot neutrals to root for them. I always had a feeling that Messi would have won player of the tournament but Mbappe equally had a good shout for it as well, it's like it was written for him, but it's even more interesting that Messi finally used this tournament to shut all of his harshest critics up, because after the Saudi game, Argentnina could have gone out had they not beaten Mexico but ultimately it was down to Messi to drag them out of there and he got them to a 2-0 win, then from there Argentina went from strength to strength. Players like Modric, Richarlison, Emi Martinez, Hakimi, Amrabat, Ziyech, Fernandes, G. Ramos, Bono, Giroud, Camavinga, Bellingham and Rashford impressed me as well.
You should make these kinds of videos a recurring thing- not just for World Cup's but for other major tournaments as well such as the Champions League, Europa League, Euros, maybe even the Premier League. You could do reaction videos towards the team draws/predictions or even summary videos for the group/knockout stages or title races/top 4/relegation battles when talking about the PL. I reckon you'll get a bigger audience if you do these things, the football YT content has seen an incredible rise over the last couple of years with the likes of Mark Goldbridge, Rory Jennings, Thogden, Buvey, True Geordie attaining tons of subscibers.
Plus I was wondering if you were still keeping up with 'The Boys' or if you had any input regarding the future of the DC Universe given that Henry Cavill has left as Superman and The Rock as well for Black Adam despite only appearing in one film. Will James Gunn have a positive impact on the DCEU?

Despite the controversies surrounding the tournament beforehand, it was a fun tournament all things considered especially for Morocco reaching the semis. I thought France would win and they made the final, so I wasn’t far off.

I understand not remembering all the details off the top of your head (I certainly wouldn't be able to), but at 2:10 obviously Croatia, Germany and Spain - three European countries - couldn't have all been in the same group! Japan are the team you were trying to think of and at least you got round to them eventually. Spot on about the ref in the final though, and mostly right about England too.

Southgate's strategy is to make England difficult to score against. In my opinion, you're better off making your team difficult to out-score.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with making your team hard to beat and defensive. Managers like Jose are experts at doing that, problem is when you have a squad full of attacking talent and you're weak in defence, it's baffling to keep the handbrake on
@@WingyMedia exactly. You can understand Morocco adopting that strategy but when we have so many attacking options it simply doesn't play to our strengths.
I'm not a massive football fan, I only follow World Cups and Euros, so your opinion is probably more qualified than mine, but I think Southgate gets too much hate. The fact that we think JUST losing to that French team in a World Cup Quarter Final is a failure shows just how well he's done with the team. I don't know how football management works, but I think, even if he had stepped down as manager, he should have still been involved with the England set up
Also, I only watched the penalty shootout of the final, but I find it hard to believe the final would be better than the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final

Personally, in terms of a World Cup, I think it's the worst I've ever seen.
Yes the final was brilliant, and there were a few other decent matches, but for me the whole tournament just didn't feel right. It just didn't *feel* like the World Cup to me. I think maybe it was because of the whole controversy around it and the fact it was played in the winter just made it feel fake.
