IMHO Billy is the funniest British comedian ever. I'm an old person who grew up with the likes of Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper etc. Only Tommy Cooper and Billy Connolly can make me laugh until I hurt.

I was there that night. Only went because it was the big man himself. He was the stand out comedian I saw at this show. The rest were the most unfunny wannabe mockney accent comedy acts you could have ever paid to see. I left soon as Billy left the stage. Seen him in the 70s 80s 90s 00's right up until his last night at the Hammersmith Odeon [I'll never call it the Apollo]. Without doubt the best comedian of my generation and I'm well into my 60s now. Try finding Connolly doing his supper routine. Thankfully one of my late uncles would always bring down the latest album Billy did. Great memories. Thanks for putting this up.

Billy is my top fav no 1 comedian..and with with huge thanks to my late father whom passed away March this year, we would both watch his dvds or tv appearances and laugh so hard our stomachs would ache..I miss my dad's laughter so much but every time I see Billy Connolly I can almost hear my dad crying with laughter...would very much like to meet him and shake his hand but we shall see...

So sorry for the loss of your dad Ceri. My kids grew up with the likes of Billy Connolly and Ab Fab and Black Adder and Red Dwarf. I've watched them laugh until they hurt. If my kids remember me for making them laugh then I reckon I did an okay job. Meanwhile I've loved Billy since the 1970s when he was a folk singer and stand-up comic - who made me laugh until I hurt.

I was staying with friends in Southern Queensland, and their land is a small forest. One day their dog was trying to grab hold of a brown Taipan, but was moved away by Greg. Before my visit, I thought that there were poisonous creatures lurking, waiting to bite you. Leaping out of bushes and snakes slithering after you I never saw one in the month I was there. I realised that in September the snakes were in hibernation, so I was alright and having two Queenslanders as my guests allayed my fears. There are no poisenous creatures in the UK, apart from the rarely seen Blackadder. It's bite can make you feel ill, but that's all. I travelled with Greg and Marilyn to Palm Cove in Northern Queensland and wants to have my first swim in the Pacific. There was, however, a sign that said " BEWARE Stingers and Sharks, so that was that. I spoke to a local who said that he had never been in the sea. It looked so blue and inviting too. It was a great holiday nonetheless and I saw some wonderful sights and travelled a lot. I flew down to Sydney for my final week. I spent every day by Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. The Opera House was fabulous. I was lucky in that the fleet review was in Darling Harbour. I also saw the fabulous aquarium with beautiful multicoloured fish. I saw some ofc the reef as well. It was my trip if a lifetime and I would love revisit your beautiful country and see my friends again. Greg us from Brisbane, and Marilyn is a countrywoman from Queensland. Their beautiful Queenslander home, with varandas is fabulous. Every night I heard these insects rubbing their legs together. There were hundreds of them. It started after sundown and lasted about half an hour. I think they are Sicoia. One of the most unusual and unique experiences, was being in a vehicle driving along the beach on Fraser Island. I was amazed that it was a public road with traffic lights and speed restrictions. Police were visible and quite often helping a vehicle that got stuck in the sand. I took 800 photos and film which I sometimes look at, but the memory of that trip in 2013 is still vivid.

I remember watching this Comic Relief live on BBC1 that day. The whole afternoon with Terry Wogan and lots of celebs doing silly, comfy, clean, entertaining stuff.. and then came the watershed at 9pm came, we were switched to the Shaftesbury Theatre and this Legend came on stage.
I know this routine word for word. It actually misses out the first minute or so, when Billy came on and mouthed into a supposedly non-working mic...

There's actually a couple of minutes missing at the beginning, when Billy comes on and says into a mic, "Can ya hear me?"
    The audience yells "YES!"
He goes to another mike Stage Left and silently mouths, "Can ya hear me?"
    The audience is quiet
Then he leans in and says, quite clearly, "Ya fucking wankers!"
A most reprehensible, filthy-mouthed, honest, acute, clever and gut-wrenchingly, side-splittingly entertaining comedian.
A wonderfully passionate, descriptive, romantic and natural TV presenter.
But most of all.. above all.. a loyal, loving husband, dad and friend to many.
Billy C is. and Freddie M was, combined, the greatest pair of talents of the 80's and beyond.

Dylan Moran is a derivative comic, and he has been quoted saying: "the reason I am a derivative comic, is that all of the people in my form of comedy have derived it from Billy Connolly" ...
