What I find so remarkable is that they have retained their original sound so well after 20 years. I mean really, think about it, how long is 20 years, that's enough time to have had children and seen them leave home. They still capture PERFECTLY what they did 20 years ago.
I believe some of the material on this album actually was recorded in the 90's. Not sure which tracks, but apparently much of it has been sitting in vaults for some time.

Well, David Roback is one of my all time favorite guitarist and song writers. I know I will meet him someday. I am so sad beyond comprehension that David and Keith both died from cancer since this video was made. It has got to be so hard on sweet Hope. Those two were her first mentors. When they were jamming in a little house by the sea and in came Hope ( skipping school). Not only did Dave help her with her shyness but these two wonderful musicians wrote and pushed it. Thank goodness Suki is here with Hope. They were Opal before Mazzy Star. R.I.P dear souls.

Just recently stumbled across MS and Slowdive. I thought they were relatively new bands. Boy was I wrong. Timeless voices that don't age. Very few artists can say that. Very few.
A person just can't keep delivering this kind of beauty on a daily basis, it's just not possible. I guess that's one of the reasons why they split, or took such a long break. This just shows how timeless their sound is. They can't even be called a 90's band or "dream pop" or whatever label they put on them. It's just astonishingly beautiful pop music that happens once in a while. That explains why their songs have been appearing in a large number of movies, TV series, even cartoons, from the '90 til present days. And they will keep popping up. How not to use them? They're perfect.

What an amazing song! I played this entire album traveling from California to the Grand Canyon. When this song came on, it totally fit the mood. Now every time I listen to this song, I think of those amazing scenic views.

It's sad that all of the original male members (David Roback, Keith Mitchell and William Cooper) of Mazzy Star have passed on. Now, Hope Sandoval and Suki Ewers are the only members of the original Mazzy Star line-up who are still playing as part of Mazzy Star. Jill Emery is still alive, but has long moved on to other musical acts.

In 2013 I was living in Denver, Co and one day I picked up a copy of the weekly rag 'Westword' and I was surprised to read that Mazzy Star would be in concert. I could NOT believe it. I kept repeating the name of the band over-and-over to myself. This is one of the songs they played (the thing about MS is that even hidden behind well-dimmed lights and with minimal movement, they create a captivating aura of sound. Yeah, Hope is the Star, but they ALL shine brightly!).
Hope holds such power at 2.50 in she turns to look directly into the camera and it feels as if she is looking right into my soul! It makes my heart flutter she is amazing : )

I like other's have just "discovered " how much depth that Hope and the rest of the band had until just recently during this self isolated experience we are having. It's a real loss to not have seen them play live when I was younger. Only knew them from there hit song that was only played on the radio.

I like other's have just "discovered " how much depth that Hope and the rest of the band had until just recently during this self isolated experience we are having. It's a real loss to not have seen them play live when I was younger. Only knew them from there hit song that was only played on the radio.
