I find it interesting that Ramin's version of Raoul here actually seems fairly calm and clear- headed, while JOJ's Phantom is getting increasingly more unstable. Unlike a lot of recordings of this scene where I feel Raoul either becomes panicked, or tries to one- up the Phantom, this version is commanding but not aggressive. Raoul holds his own but doesn't seem to want to initiate a fight and just leaves with Christine. If anything, it reinforces that the Phantom is the one who's really insecure in this scene, and I think it's an interesting take that I don't see too often (and leaving aside the other versions where Raoul is just... absent... or irrelevant). Of course, this is just an audio recording so it could have gone down completely differently onstage.
+童心 The high note at Raoul's bit. Earphones will probably help you since Jones' and Adams' voices are leading. Then again, he's matched the tone so well that it might have "melded" into the music, but that's just me. The man has some amazing vocal control.
+童心 If you mean what Raoul's lyrics are, then they are as follows (they may not be entirely accurate): Once again she is his, Once again she returns, To the arms of her angel of music! Angel or Demon? Still calls her yet! Bringing her back to the grave! Angel of music, Dark seducer, Who is this strange angel?
Just like with him and Hadley, I felt that there *was* actually some competition between Raoul and Erik. You get the impression that Raoul does actually pose somewhat of a threat to him.
1:21 is my favorite Raoul note, and Ramin handles it beautifully! I don't know how people can't like Raoul's part in this song, it's just as intense and wonderful.
I personally love Hadley. I really, really love Hadley, like to almost stalkerish proportions. My dream trio would be JOJ, Hadley, and Sierra or Gina Beck. Honestly, I'm just a huge JOJ fangirl :) And I hear you, I've listened to it at least 20 times by now.
Ramin made me cry and I'm "old school", LOL! For me there's something about Ramin's voice that I can't really put my finger on. It goes deep. I know he's criticized for being imperfect at times and I probably don't have enough of an ear to pick that out. But he's the only singer which makes me literally close my eyes and take it in.
what does IMO mean? lol personally,I like my Raoul's jerk-y. I read in an interview how Hadley thought Raoul should be portrayed, as a man who is trying to save and fight for the woman he thinks he loves, and he is willing to do everything he can to save her. when you put yourself in Raoul's place, you can understand why he'd come off kinda mean. Raoul needs to be a threat to the Phantom, otherwise the Phantom could easily just off him
I agree with you! I love Ramin a lot, but JOJ has a more powerful voice imo. Which works better for the original play. JOJ is my favorite phantom followed closely by MC. Still would have much preffered Ramin in the movie to Gerard. I don't know why they didn't cast him honestly since he was already playing Christine's father. He has the rock and roll voice they were going for in the move and he was young and attractive. so he had everything Gerard has plus a better voice..
lol oh Thanks! Yeah, I completely agree. Hadley did it quite well. I mean, how else would you react when the woman you love is going on about this 'horrible ghost' and you don't believe her, then suddenly find out that everything she said was true. Your whole life and safety has just been thrown in the air and you don't know how to protect you and who you love. It's a stressful and terrifying thing and I think the performance caught that to the key. And okay, I'll have to look him up then!! :P
To be fair, it sounded a lot better on the DVD than it did on RUclips. My main complaint was that I felt like Ramin was really overpowering, and he's singing harmony. Here I felt like their voices just really blended well. However, I'm also kind of partial to JOJ, I think his voice is completely angelic, though I like Ramin and think he's a great actor.
I have to agree with @XJavertxEponineX . This version you can hardly hear Raoul, unfortunately. I know what you mean though, it was quite difficult to understand Hadley's singing (but I still think he did amazing, cause I listen to it a couple times a day :P). I like the conversing Ramin has though, and it's interesting to hear the difference between Hadley and Ramin's Raouls, as Hadley's has a stronger verbal intensity
As much as I LOVE the trio version of Wandering Child, the 25th anniversary's attempt was kind of a mess (the rest was great, though). I only wish it could have sounded as amazing as this!
You said people said Ramin sings with more passion. Well you crying at JOJ concert doesn't prove that JOJ sings with more passion. The only thing your statement proves is that JOJ sings with passion which those people didn't deny.
That does make sense now. Trying not to make excuses but the POTO was one Ramin's first shows and he had no training in voice and acting at that time. Ramin might perform as the phantom again years from now and by that time he should be better. I can tell his singing has improved.
And Christine is just Raoul dressed up as Christine. Also, Madam Giry is Firmin in drag, while Andre played both himself and Firmin through careful use of mirrors and puppets. In other news, Carlotta actually was Carlotta, because no-one else wanted to be her.
@Ashleypalmer1991 JOJ's voice is like honey :D and to people who say Ramin has more passion...well, I was sobbing when I saw JOJ, so definitely not true. I felt it :D
The point I was making is that JOJ's phantom made me cry. Karimloo's phantom has never done that for me. It's not just the passion aspect that makes me prefer JOJ's phantom either - I find Karimloo's phantom weak in many areas. But that's just my opinion, everyone's entitled to their own favourites - my point was just that you can't state completely that JOJ has less passion than Karimloo - it completely depends on the person who's watching's interpretation. Does that make sense?
no because i feel the same way. i can’t stand JOJ’s phantom because i find his acting to be not as good as Karimloo’s. Ramin made me see the phantom in a different light and is overall better
Oh I know, and I agree that he's definitely improved vocally since his time as Raoul and through his time as the Phantom :) It's more than just the singing that I have issue with though (way too long to explain in a youtube comment) but I definitely know that there's a lot of people that do enjoy Ramin's interpretation. I just don't :)
Basically he just said he thought the Phantom had Asperger's and idk that to me is a real misunderstanding and actually a fairly insulting way of interpreting the Phantom? Might just be me, but I'm really not feeling that interpretation at all.
I do actually, so thanks - and I still find it fairly insulting. Like I said, it's just my personal opinion, and you're entitled to not find it insulting, but I'm afraid you're not entitled to tell me that I can't find it insulting. Sorry. I'll just leave it here, because I don't really want to argue.

1:21 At this moment, Ramin Karimloo ascended into godhood.
Tbh Ramin became a God when he was born......
What did he sing at this second? I just can't get it.
+童心 The high note at Raoul's bit. Earphones will probably help you since Jones' and Adams' voices are leading. Then again, he's matched the tone so well that it might have "melded" into the music, but that's just me. The man has some amazing vocal control.

+MJR Taurus get it. Thx. He's indeed amazing. X
Just like with him and Hadley, I felt that there *was* actually some competition between Raoul and Erik. You get the impression that Raoul does actually pose somewhat of a threat to him.
JoJ and Ramin in one production! OMG let this happen again! Phantom, other i do not care let it happen!
1:21 is my favorite Raoul note, and Ramin handles it beautifully! I don't know how people can't like Raoul's part in this song, it's just as intense and wonderful.
This is the best version of Wandering child, EVER! Ramin and John's voices in one song!!! *PHANGIRL MOMENT* 💖 I love these too so much!!
I wish we had more videos of John and Ramin singing together.
SO GOOD! JOJ =
OMG! Ramin + john Owen :o
1:22 that note Ramin sings 😍😍
Ramin at 1:21... no words, at all. cannot explain my obsession. at all. help me PLEASE
Ramin made me cry and I'm "old school", LOL! For me there's something about Ramin's voice that I can't really put my finger on. It goes deep. actually, I think he’s more precise than most
First time I hear more Raoul than Erik in this song ^^ Ramin's power.. his voice is simply incredible!
Just yesterday I was hoping that when Ramin played Raoul he did it with JOJ now today I find this! Thank you!
just listened to 1:21 too many times to count...woops
what does IMO mean? lol
personally,I like my Raoul's jerk-y. what demon possessed phantom? and Angel entered Raoul?... oh yeah Ramin Karimloo 😍😍
sorry but isn’t this just the best cast ever, John and Ramin? are you joking?
This would be the only time I would choose Raoul!
DREAM CAST!
*dies from overload of awesomeness*
ramin at 1:22 = i die inside 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
John Owen Jones is truly one of the most friendliest Phantoms that you'll ever known! Even the way that he sings!
I CAN'T DECIDE WHO KILLED ME MORE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO MY WHOLE BRAIN IS CRYING
I know all of you seem to prefer Ramin, but JOJ is seriously breathtaking live. I love Ramin, but JOJ will always be the best Phantom for me :)
Ellie Lee I love JoJ I actually don’t like Ramin as Phantom
Agreed! After Michael John is my all time favorite Erik. He embodies the role completely.
For me, it's Michael, Ramin, JOJ and Hugh, in that order. ☺
I'd say JOJ has the best voice, and Ramin is the best actor.
personally ramin just does it more for me. there’s something about the way he portrays the phantom that just hits different.
@@k8chillxi want to understand your point of view. why not?
I agree with you! I love Ramin a lot, but JOJ has a more powerful voice imo. Which works better for the original play. JOJ is my favorite phantom followed closely by MC. i really can’t tell who has the more powerful voice lol
Beautiful!

I dunno but I'm laughing cause I'm feeling the music but then I hear someone coughing😂

probably one of my favourite scenes from the 25th
As much as I LOVE the trio version of Wandering Child, the 25th anniversary's attempt was kind of a mess (the rest was great, though). I only wish it could have sounded as amazing as this!
Ramin is the best phantom and best Raoul.🎉
Ramin doesnt sniff John Owen Jones' phantom, it's a pale copy
for sure
I care. Ramin is the absolute best playing Phantom. Watch the 25th anniversary.
The only raouls i like are hadley and ramin! Tho I prefer ramin as the phantom.
This would be the only time where, as Christine, I would hesitate between Raoul and Erik!:P
This was back in 2004? Someone please answer me!
JOJ is THE Phantom!!!
I don't care who the crap plays who, the Phantom always wins.
And I'm confused. The Christine is Nicky Adams, but the picture is of Sierra Boggess. Why?
OMG I so want this too!! Can you send it?
dayum girl, i know what you mean. fbb for life.
You said people said Ramin sings with more passion. Well you crying at JOJ concert doesn't prove that JOJ sings with more passion. The only thing your statement proves is that JOJ sings with passion which those people didn't deny.

oh I want the full audio so bad but I don't have anything to trade it with. ='(
And Christine is just Raoul dressed up as Christine. Also, Madam Giry is Firmin in drag, while Andre played both himself and Firmin through careful use of mirrors and puppets. In other news, Carlotta actually was Carlotta, because no-one else wanted to be her.
For me, it definitely would have been the Phantom. Hadley played Raoul, IMO, a little meaner than most actors who have portrayed Raoul.
@Ashleypalmer1991 JOJ's voice is like honey :D and to people who say Ramin has more passion...well, I was sobbing when I saw JOJ, so definitely not true. I felt it :D
lol WHAT… idc if this was ten years ago ramin has much more passion lol
The point I was making is that JOJ's phantom made me cry. Karimloo's phantom has never done that for me. so Erik, this time round, i chose Raoul.
Ramon’s A5 at 1:21 👏 👏
Ramin and JOJ have equally powerful voices until Ramin hits Ab. Ramin chooses to sing softer most of the time.
I wish i could hear rauls lines
the next it is you. I promise :D
I didn't know JOJ sang, "far-reaching gaze"
it's a reaaallly difficult decision in the 25th anniversary... it could've gone either way ;)
Basically he just said he thought the Phantom had Asperger's and idk that to me is a real misunderstanding and actually a fairly insulting way of interpreting the Phantom? Might just be me, but I'm really not feeling that interpretation at all.
it's too bad you can hardly hear Ramin in this :/
I do actually, so thanks - and I still find it fairly insulting. i think the vibrato doesn't fit in "wandering child so lost so helpless" and "have you forgotten your angel"
