RUclips recommended me this video and it's honestly great. Although it would be nice if you could provide a map location these stations because even though i've been to Tokyo a couple of times it's still hard to figure out where the stations are located based on the line alone. Also the "TV-Error" transition in the intro isn't too nice to watch due to the high pitched noise so a different transition would be great! Looking forward to more videos!
I appreciate the input. I'm still learning editing and getting the audio balance has been tough thus far. But I'm kicking myself over not including a map. Thanks for the support!
Scheduled to arrive in Japan in March this year. Not Tokyo though, my training center will be in Maizuru, Kyoto. Goodluck with your journey! Sincerely, Subscriber number 257.
Well, due to your video I now know i have used the least-used station in Tokyo. Back in 2020 I went to Okutama in order to get away from Tokyo during covid but still remain within Tokyo prefecture as the government requested. To get a little exercise I decided to walk to the next station to get my train back to Tokyo. That was Shiromaru. It was a very long but very peaceful wait for the train.
Hey man really enjoyed your video! I look forward to more. A suggestion for future videos, would be awesome to get more time at the stations / a chance to look around. Us folks abroad don't get to just walk around a station on the reg and it'd be great to see more details. Keep up the great work!
Funny story, the video got to 6:00 and you said that “Shinagawa Station is north of Kita-Shinagawa”. Wait what? Wouldn’t it be south because Kita means north? But then I looked it up and it checks out. Then I remembered that the cardinal directions in these stations are sometimes completely arbitrary (to the most of us at least). I recall looking up Kumamoto’s maps and seeing that Nishi-Kumamoto is to the south of Kumamoto Station, and Minami-Kumamoto is to the east…
a train nerd's Tokyo Dream - but I liked it - thanks ! I have been to Higashi Kawagoe - but that's Saitama - and Usui, but that's Chiba - so well done !
Is this the Geoff Marshall of Tokyo? Just subbed and really enjoyed this. Been dabbling in creating Japanese train videos myself . Wish I could be there to film more footage
For Aomi/Yurikamome Line, it may be different now because a couple of new attractions have opened since then. Immersive Fort Tokyo and City Circuit Tokyo Bay (go-karting). Though probably most will arrive via Tokyo Teleport. Some years ago, before the Toyosu Fish Market and other recent Toyosu buildings opened, I think Shijoumae station would've been the least used on the line. That whole area was a ghost town at pretty much all times. It's so different now.
Interesting list and good presentation. I followed along on Google maps so I could see what else was around the areas you mentioned. Even the most banal has something interesting, even if it isn't outstanding.
I honestly just did a quick scan of the comments after I saw this video's title on my homepage to see if Mr Marshall himself had seen this video yet or not 😅
The stations one stop out from the termini are least used because people don't board at the main stations to get to them and instead use other local transit to reach the area. However if they are travelling more than one stop it makes sense to use those train lines.
I was just about to comment that yay, I've actually been to one of those stations (or, at least, one of the stations you mentioned!), but... no, I actually haven't, as I chickened out and elected to go to the other, slightly closer end-of-the-line station in west Tokyo, Musashi-Itsukaichi, as opposed to going all the way to Okutama. And Musashi-Itsukaichi wound up being a little less exciting than I'd hoped, so I was less enthused about making the trip to Okutama -- though there does seem to be an impossibly narrow building housing a rather yummy-looking pizzeria called "Hachinoki" in Okutama, which I find kind of enticing! So maybe one day I'll make the pilgrimage. ;) (Actually, I guess I have been to Aomi Station before -- I may even have gotten off there once! -- but I most likely just went through it on my way to Odaiba.) I was half expecting one of my local stations, Inokashira-kouen, to show up on this list, as I believe it is the least used station on the Keio Inokashira line -- but it definitely gets a bit more traffic than the Keio main line station you covered, so I guess it just missed its chance! The reason that one gets so little use is because it's walkable from Kichijoji Station, so most people would just get off there -- though it is situated on the opposite end of Inokashira Park, so I can see someone coming in from Tokyo, getting off at Kichijoji, walking the park, then hopping back on at Inokashira-kouen Station for the return trip to Shibuya. It's also situated in a truly gorgeous spot (I love Inokashira Park so much!), so as far as lesser-used stations go, it's one that I'd say is worth making the trip to sometime. At any rate, thanks for the informative video! Been a Tokyo resident for about 5 years now, living in Kichijoji, and I frequently take trips to obscure stations or less well-documented parks on lazy weekends. Sadly seems that most of these are low-traffic for a reason, so I don't think I'll be adding too many to my list of places to visit -- though Tamako looks rather scenic, and I have been meaning to eventually hit up Okutama as I said, so those might be exceptions.

I have a suggestion… With all due respect, I would like to see more of the station and the surroundings. Try more speaking while pointing your camera elsewhere!

Been to so many of these, never realized they were all so little used! I used to go to summer camp in the Okutama area.
hello I'm subscriber number 219. Best of luck with the 1000 subs I believe you got this!
Great and well researched video!
3:39 I think you mean Komagome station; Kawagoe station is all the way in Saitama prefecture served by the Tobu and JR Saikyo/Kawagoe Line lol
Thanks for pointing this out! I missed it while recording and while editing. Clearly my brain still hasn't meshed with Japanese place names yet

I really like this kind of content, i hope they will be more Japan railway related video like this😅
Now do the least used stations of Osaka, Kyoto, Sapporo and of each of the four main islands
From one Adam to another, good video and I like trains
Excellent narration! I would love to see some architecture focused videos.

Suprised Takanawa gateway station isn't on the list, i feel like it has to be the least used on the Yamanote line at the least
